Wow, this organization is really going all in. With all the questionable coaching moves and decisions, the mediocre performance that is slowly becoming a new norm for the Ravens, and now the increase in prices, I can really see our team tanking down real nice, if we won't have couple of 12-4 seasons and deep playoff runs in the next couple of seasons. Unfortunately, we are a looong way from being a playoff team. Can't see too much sunshine on the horizon any which way you look at it.

You know they were 1 play and about 1 yard off winning the division right?  How much closer to being a playoff team can you be than that.

We lost to Cincinnati in Week 17. AKA we still lost the division regardless of that game. We are not a playoff team.

So many fans wanted us to lose to get a better draft pick. The Ravens gave them what they wanted. Hope they're happy and can stop complaining about the loss.

  2. I'm not a big Falcons fan but really felt for them. I so did not want Brady and the cheaters winning another SB. I was really hoping to wipe the smirk off of his face but had to settle for just a first half smirkless Brady.

Yes it is very hard to get to a SB and the Ravens have been blessed to win two in such a short period of time.

I do believe we can get there again but need quite a few players to do it. We have a good base but must build on it.

Good luck to our Ravens this coming season!

Pats are a good club, not that I am a fan. However they also have greatly benefited from being in a division where the competition is not great enough to really challenge for the division. IMHO this accounts for 3-4 wins every season, which is also the difference of making the playoffs and not, as well as having home field advantage versus not. My point is, while a good club, they have a lot of outside factors that also play a big role to their success. Any team that can win their division so many years in a row, pretty much uncontested does not play a very competitive division. Competitive implies the skill/talent level is roughly the same (overall). The reality is the Pats division is so far from competitive, and to be a team involved in several rule breaking scandals only adds salt to the wound and sullies the reputation, rightfully so.

Don't get me wrong, I do not like the Pats even a little bit. On the other hand, a team that consistently wins 12 to 13 games a year is beating other teams outside of their division and conference.

Yes they do but a lot of those games are in their house. They can control lots of things in their own back yard. I can't believe they are entirely on the up and up. I do not like cheaters.

the SKIN'S are said they will have to let go either DESHAUN JACKSON or PIERRE CARCONE,I have heard CARCONE is a true baller that blocks really well downfield and has not lost a step.

Pierre Garçon is the type of possession WR the team is looking for. All he has to do is drive few miles on I95, direction Owings Mills. Skins will give a big contract to Cousin so won't be able to sign him. I rather give a contract to Garçon than $8 Mill to Wallace who is not a good team player. The dude creates problem because he is not targeted much.

I don't blame Wallace for wanting the ball. No proof he is not a good teammate. Where did you hear that?

  5. Just imagine having a good QB with the decade of defensive dominance?

Ya it's a fantasy, but realistically if we have a QB who elevates the play of his peers from the 00' season-08' alone, I think we win it all at least 2 extra times. Brady would legit have probably at least 5 rings. 00', 01', 06', 08', 10',11', probably 12'. We had such great defenses and our offense just habitually let us down.

Just remember who the cheater is. Be careful what you wish for. Flacco is a good QB. We are lucky to have him. Playoffs many times since he came into the league and a SB to boot.

  6. Watching Steve Smith football life again and seeing how he and Jake had that chemistry shows how Flacco and Harbaugh wasted such a good weapon. It's sad how so many fans are feed up with the Harbaugh lead ravens that watching them isn't even fun anymore. Steve B. your loyalty to Harbaugh is draining. We know Harbaugh is a good guy, maybe a great friend and positive figure but that doesn't translate to a great head coach.

You don't know anything about SSS or you would know he thought highly of the Ravens AND the coaches. He would never point the finger at anyone because of a lackluster season. Shame on you as a "fan". If it makes you feel better and more "fun" watch the Pats. Maybe you would like watching the cheaters play.

    Problems with the Ravens

    1. Harbs

Hire coordinators that are friends. Does not appear to have influence over play-calling or scheme. Can’t have a head coach that can not influence the game plan. The result is a revolving door of coordinators. Ravens hire former coaches because Harbs can’t teach young coordinators that would be on the staff for a long period of time.

Almost every week he talks about running the football, CBs having bad eyes/technique, being disciplined, vague clichés like ‘play winning football’.

Yet what you see on the field is Joe passing the too much, CB with the eyes in the backfield, stupid penalties, lack of urgency. I don’t think the players or coordinators listen to him or fear him.

You can’t pay everybody, so a coach must develop young players. Ravens rely on old guys to be starters way too much. That's why the can not sustain high level of play the last few season.

If the talent was that bad, they would not be in so many close games. It’s play calling and poor execution. That is the head coaches responsibility to control.

    2. Joe Flacco
I have defended Flacco for years. Many fans stated his contract would handicap the Ravens and they were right.

Because of the contract, FO could not bring in or retain top talent. Flacco can not carry the offense. He needs a run game, o-line, and a receiver like Boldin that’s open even when he is covered. He needs an OC to call the plays and whisper in the head phones when to change the play. He need a QB coach to maintain his mechanics

After 9 years and $120 M, that’s one player with a lot of needs. A guy you paid to be a solution, but is often a problem. His pick yesterday was embarrassing.

    3. OZ/DeCosta. Hortiz
The evaluation from scouts and drafting has been terrible for years. Even OZ stated that much. Ravens have need playmakers on both sides of the balls, yet that continue to draft DT,DE, and ILBs. Drafting receivers that can’t catch.

They need a new scouting department even if it means paying more to steal from another team.

#1 Your outta your mind. Its easy to say this person or whoever is the issue/problem, but what solution do you present as an improvement. Reality says many teams would be very happy to have Harbs for a coach. Every coach makes good and bad decisions for a myriad of reasons.

#2 Flacco did not have the best year. IMHO he was rushing to get back to the field. I know its hindsight now, but even when he first took to the field I was thinking, really? Why they did not play Mallett in the first few games to really let Joe get healthy and get his mechanics back is kinda crazy. I still do not think rushing him back helped out any.
Joe's contract has not handicapped the Ravens as you propose. Its easy to look at the total number he can earn. Try looking at what he actually does earn. Also, again who is a better QB upgrade available?

#3 This is just outright crazy. First your judging recent draft classes off of a season or two? I guess at the first sign of struggles you must think you have failed and flunked.. The Ravens do a great job at drafting many positions and generally draft well in ever round. There is no guarantee a drafted player realizes the potential you see in them, so many factors.

#4: The real issue you never even touched on.
The Ravens have been plucked of many good/great coaches/scouts over the last several years. Why, because they were successful. They have done a good job of trying to replace the losses but eventually you gotta deal with the fact everyone is a bit different and not necessarily at that same level and like players need a bit of development to hit their stride.

Most of these points would benefit from looking more closely at the details instead of surface scans.

Agree with your response. Fans try to pigeonhole a bad season by blaming this one or that one. The Ravens will bounce back. No doubt in my mind. Go Ravens.

  8. looking at 2017- perriman, chris moore, wallace, aiken(ufa) probably gone, camponaro and this guy vince mayle? this group does not strike fear into any defense. no clue how the front office has struggled to draft and develop receivers. im sure they will sign a broken down victor cruz and draft another aaron mallette that will get cut in training camp. happy new year you all!!

Beefing already and this season isn't over yet. Geez just please stop the griping until draft or training camp. Then you can gripe to your heart's content. You kinda remind me of Crusader. Are you related? LOL.

  9. "Reynolds has continued to make progress." COMPARED to who? Hester? Hestor was just another classic decision that coaches had to run into the ground before making a change.

I just don't know fellow fans what the heck is really going on with this RAVENS TEAM anymore. The word STRANGE tops the list.

I think the word strange fits you better. You must have felt really good when we lost last week because then you can boast about all your negative comments as being true. I sincerely hope you do the same with your NFC team. I would really hate to think you have centered all your negativity on the AFC.

  10. Tough- not really. Many of us fans know that we are mediocre for a lot of reasons- and will continue to be that way unless our philosophy, coaches, and or certain players change. Nearly the entire season was rather 'haunt'-worthy, Mr Byrne. Good luck in Cinncy, for what it is worth.

For what it is worth don't watch. There is such a thing as a mediocre fan. You top the list with this comment.

  11. This hurt all over again just reading this. Watching it live and seeing them score all I could do was look down, cant even look at football right now. Nothing will hurt more than that Evans drop and Cundiff miss but this was tough. They should've known where Ben was going on that last throw, should've double teamed him at the line

Woulda shoulda coulda. Inches from a win that no one expected from the lowly Ravens. No one gave us a chance and we almost pulled it off. I am proud of this team. Go Ravens!
