Why keep Pitta even at a reduced salary? Disappointing. He's going to hold this offense up big time because for no fault of his he's unable to generate separation or gain yards after catch. On top of that he's had way too many drops recently. On the contrary, I would've loved to keep Dumervil because now we don't have a D nor do we have an O protecting a QB that is terrible without it.
Don't know who you been watching but dropped passes are not his problem.
8-8? That"s if a couple of teams get lost going to the stadium and don't show up.
there's no point you watching next year then if you already know what's going to happen...
Amen.
Reading these comments makes me think more and more nothing would satisfy some fans. Go Ravens.
The almighty dollar wins again. Ridiculous amount of money. Wish him luck he may well need it.
Good luck to Elvis. I'm sure someone will pick him up.
There is no reason to bring back Torry Smith. We need to get better no regress, Torry Smith would be regressing.
Maybe another team would suit your taste better.
Flacco is killing this team, he's not Elite and top 15 at best. Flacco you need to take a pay cut or the Ravens need to let you go. We are losing to much talent!!!!
Who you gonna put in his place? A second string back up? Think about it. He wins us a SB and you have a problem with his salary?
I hope when DeCosta takes over next year he cleans house. The ravens will try to bandaid this team but in the end 5-11 or 4-12 next year. Team lacks Playmakers and we aren't buying any so this team looks bad next year. I use to be a Flacco supporter but he is killing the team with his cap number.
Flacco is not the problem. He renegotiated last year. Give it a rest.
Really tired of bringing these guys to the top of their position and they go to another team that offers a few dollars more(millions to them is chump change). Look what has happened with Torrey. I'm not sure but I think the difference was $2 million.
too bad our UN-ELITE QB is taking up a majority of cap space on offense,it would be great to grab JEFFERIES and BRANDON MARSHALL,and immediately have 2 PLAYMAKER'S open on every play.
Too bad you just don't see the light. You could do a lot worse in the QB situation. You could be a Browns fan. They would give their eye teeth to have Flacco on their team and I could think of several others as well. Get over the cap issue please. It is what it is.
If the Ravens can get over their domestic violence hypocrisy
Poor choice of words on your part. You don't "get over" domestic violence.
They should have cut his butt last year and keep Brooks another stupid harbaugh idea
Harbs is not a good evaluator of talent, He inherited the majority of the last super bowl teams. maybe he should be drug tested. He's only has one more chance, with Bisciotti. Hello Cleveland.
You are so wrong on all counts. Geez. By the way, who is testing you lol.
Who cares about how much the drugs weigh, THEY ARE ILLEGAL.
I may be on the outside but I absolutely do. If your at home and have an occasional lapse of judgement that's one thing. To go driving around with enough Marjuana to supply the whole club is another thing. And that's me giving him the benignity of doubt.
its like two 16 year olds having unprotected sex vs a20yo and a 22 yo vs a 30 yo having an affair with a 16 year old. Yeah they all fall under the same law but one is forgivable and the other is a much deeper problem.
I regularly say this at work with people when they screw up. I can deal with a smart person that makes an honest mistake because heck we all do. I refuse to deal with an ideot because the minute we deal with one problem he finds himself in another stupid problem then another and he/she then ultimately call themselves "unlucky people" or bad luck magnets. No your just dumb to regularly put yourself in bad situations.
in other words, I can find some sympathy for someone who gets caught driving drunk the first time. Il try to convince myself that it was a lapse of judgement and thank god no one got hurt as long as he makes an effort to not do it again. but I can never forgive someone who drives city to city with a 12 pack of beer in the car. It's like "so you planned to drive intoxicated at high speeds for prolonged periods of time"!! That person should go to jail head first because he's so much more likely to screw up more in the near future.
20 grams is hardly enough to supply the entire club; it's less than an Ounce. The laws are old and outdated. We've got people spending 20-30 years in jail on possession charges when pedophiles and rapists are getting out in 2 years - tell me how much logic is actually being used.
The law is the law regardless of what slant you put on it.
Cap space won't get better until we lose the huge contract we are overpaying our QB. We are a ton of pieces short not to take into consideration the players who will be injured as well and need replaced before the season is over. I have said it before, other great qbs have cut their salary so they can put pieces around them. Flacco has had two huge contracts now and has enough money to keep 10 generations of Flaccos in the moolah. It is time he starts being a team player from putting in the hours, to giving back some money so we can be competitive. If he doesn't then clearly he isn't interested in being a team player and in two years when we can afford to get rid of him, we need to do it.
Yes, when we are winning, then he deserves the money, but we havent had a winning season in 3 years so no way should he be paid the money he is paid, especially since he ranks in the bottom third of the league. Ozzie needs to sit him down and make him understand the score.
You need to understand that he already redid his contract once. He doesn't need to take less. Get over it please. There are other ways to save money and that's not it.
Also why is Pat Moriarty, Ozzie and John given a free pass in how we are pressed against the max cap every year? Forget that, the amount of dead money that keeps getting accumulated? That directly falls on these guys' heads. Dead money only means wasted money period. We have much more than the average share of dead money every year.
How is it that the Patriots who have a SB winning HC/GM do such a great job managing their cap? They have 3 times the cap space we do and yet are contenders year in and year out! Time to turn the focus back on the our front office and coaches. They aren't doing a great job at cap management period.
They cheat!
1. Fan pressure means nothing. Executives that listen to fan opinions end up sitting with the fans instead of being employed. Fans are just a bunch of blowhard talkers. They talk about how outraged they are about a team, yet they still go to games, watch games on TV, and buy merchandise. That's called being a hypocrite.
If this were true there wouldn't be a need for a PR department. I can assure you someone from the ravens organization monitors these boards and reports fan sentiment back to a superior. All corporations and politicians have to keep their constituents happy otherwise they will suffer professionally.
And not all fans are blowhards. For whatever reason, this past season was the one that made me lose all faith in Joe Flacco. It may have something to do with realizing he is going into his 10th season and I continue to hear what others need to do to make him successful. Anyway, I don't have season tickets but usually find a way to attend a few games each year, buy sunday ticket and buy merchandise when the mood strikes. Last season I did none of it. I also used to record 4 daytime games and the night game every sunday. I basically binge watched football for 10 hours every sunday and watched thursday and monday nights. Last season I barely made the effort to watch the Ravens play. I am not some fly by night fan. I was raised in MD, am 40 years old and have watched football so long I can remeber the colts games at memorial. It pains me to say but I am losing interest. I am still interested as is obvious by me being on this board and hopefully next season will be different. It's hard to be interested in a team where the team leader and qb dont seem to be too interested themselves.
Please dont be too harsh on me for saying this. Most fans in my possition just fade away and you never hear why. I am just expressing my opinion. I want to stay a fan but it's getting harder.
I will just express my opinion, You need to be more of a real football fan than just a Ravens fan or a TV fan. So it was an off year.
You seem to have some knowledge of the history and players. Let me try to put this in a different perspective.
You were young but you must remember Dan Marino. Dan had great stats and he even had a perfect season record, but never won a Super Bowl. He had some down years too. He was at one time the highest paid NFL player, he had his worst season the year following and actually lost faith in his team. He went on to write about it and realized that he can only change what was in his power to change.
There are many other QB's you can look at in NFL history, who have struggled as the " on-the field" leader type personalities.
But Joe still holds the NFL Playoff record for first 5 years of QB Carreer.
Joe has been in the playoffs 6 years (winning seasons as well) out of his 9 year career.
He has fought through an injury and many team injuries. I do not think you could find a more committed Raven than Joe Flacco.
I will stay a fan, sure its hard sometimes but having a team and history like the Ravens isn't one of them.
Try being a Saints fan, or Atlanta, or Titans, Jacksonville, Jets, Buffalo, even lately Vikings, Bears, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, are you really ready to trade for that?
Just voicing my opinion. Let it play out and see. If Joe fails, he is not the first one. The Ravens will get another QB in a couple of years.
But if I have any notion of Joe and the Ravens, you haven't seen the last of the playoffs.
I like this comment. Thank you for the positive instead of the negative.
Guys that are old, injured or suspended? What a cast of players we have at TE. Time to just cut most of them. Trade up and try for Howard from Ala. A truely gifted TE. Hoving a cast of old, injured and/or suspended TE is a waste of good cap money.
Ozzie's past 5 drafts have just been bad. Out of 55 drafted players over the past 5 years we get 2 maybe 3 guys who know how to play. Just a very poor record.
Maybe it's time Ozzie called it quits.
Have you lost your mind. Get rid of Ozzie? Get rid of most of our TEs? Better check other teams successes over the years in the draft. I can confidently say we have done just fine.
No reason to keep 6 TE, I was never too fond of getting Watson in the first place and unfortunately he wasn't able to provide for us, think he should go. I love Pitta, but think it's time to let him go also. We should move forward with Gillmore, Waller, Boyle, and Williams.
No way you get rid of a proven in Pitta. There is still plenty in his tank. I really don't know about Watson but he should be given a chance. The two who were suspended should go. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I blame Ozzie for getting rid of all our good players- JJ was only meant to play for us and no one else
Ozzie does his job. I miss Jacoby too but this is the NFL and if you can't produce you don't last long. Jacoby will always be a Raven to me.
It all comes down to salary cap. When Joe produced like an elite qb he was paid like one. Now for two years he has landed in the bottom third of qbs in the league and is still getting paid in the top 5. I know that Flacco is in the drivers seat, but I would remind him, if I was Ozzie, that he can't do it on his own, he had two years to show that and he failed. We don't have the cap space with his numbers to do the things we need to get back into the playoffs. Like many elite qbs before him, Brees, Manning, Brady (to name a few) have all taken that late career pay cut so they can get the talent to make it to the big dance.
If Flacco continues to fail to cooperate, I would get a veteran qb to challenge him and pick up a rookie also. I would also let Flacco know as soon as his dead money gets to where the Ravens can stand it, they will release him. I would start using more wild cat and other qbs in game situations and I would make it obvious to Joe that he is being phased out. If he wants to be a persona non grata while all the time taking up space at the castle, then let him be miserable sitting on the bench, carrying peoples gear or whatever the Ravens can think of to get him to quit if he refuses to take a pay cut.
I have always defended Flacco but he is indefensible at this point with his production and his cap number. It is long overdue that this team start playing hardball with Flacco.
Oh give it a rest. He's coming off of a serious injury.Too many other factors come into being a "elite" QB. He really has not had the kind of receivers as players like Ryan and Manning have had. He just renegotiated his contract a little while ago so don't expect a pay cut from him nor should he have to take one.
Why can't we get that Harbaugh and Reed are like oil and water. Immiscible people with the same end goal. Reed is a free flower in thought and talk, Harbaugh on the other hand is a guy who says what he thinks we need to hear or not. He is guarded, will lie in a heartbeat to serve team needs, etc. Reed wears truth and his heart on his sleeves and is prone to emotions. Most of all, the two can't get along. While Reed is the epitome of a Baltimore Raven, John is on his last leg here if he can't get us to the playoffs. Next year, if we fail to make the playoff again John will be fired and the new coach may ask Reed to come coach for him.
What couch did they sit on while you examined their mind lol. John will not be fired. Reed should never coach in Bmore. It would be awful should he have to be let go. Same with Ray.
I can't believe Hensley cited "domestic violence" as a reason we wouldn't sign Marshall. When can we admit humans make mistakes? Marshall seems way past his immature days and is the guy we should target if released. Garcon is another viable option, but I also like Aiken who makes plays when given the opportunity.
We keep talking about getting more weapons for Flacco. Helping Flacco. What if Flacco isn't that good? Maybe we should be a run first team like the Cowboys. We have already over-invested in Flacco twice and now we want to cater the offseason to Flacco. That isn't a recipe for winning.
PS: My 2012 Flacco jersey will be donated to a fan this year.
If it weren't for Flacco there would not be a SB win! You need to donate his jersey because you obviously don't cherish it.
Gotta have respect for any team that wind 13 to 14 games EVERY YEAR, that seems to host the AFC Title game EVERY YEAR, and seems to be in the Super Bowl EVERY YEAR. Bad news for us Ravens Fans, Next year the Pats will win13 to 14 games, host the AFC Title Game, and go to the Super Bowl........AGAIN.
Weak division first of all. Ravens have a tough division.
To All Patriots Haters; After last night game, you just got to admit that Tom Brady is the best QB that ever played this game, I had the Falcon's at +7, they fell apart after halftime, Great QB's finds a way to pick and pick and pick away little by little until the final buzzer sounds, This is the cleanest game or Super Bowl that I've ever seen the Patriot play, they deserved this..I think Brady and Belichick will be around a few more years although they both have nothing to lose..
I don't hate the Patriots just their cheating ways. To me they are suspect every time they take the field. I can't root for that sorry.
The Patriots are my second favorite team so I was cheering them all the way!!!!
You like cheaters. Good for you.
