  1. They said it on The Fan yesterday injuries aren't the only reason the Ravens are power ranked number 30. They played no better with Joe and we don't need to be reminded about his TD/INT numbers do we? I know Jimmy will be back. Probably Webb. Contracts make them part of the team while Monroe is defacto gone. Again the The Fan said Shareense is ranked number one at corner and Vinnie said both the two franchise corners: Smith and Webb are in the 90's. Nineties!!! Their contracts could buy a Cessna for getting around on the eastern shore to a mansion. What up with that? But I know next spring the stories will be hauled out like the last three that they're set at this and they're ready at that. Well maybe they'll try a little forthright reporting instead of the snow jobs we get.
  2. He might stay but I don't see how unless they drop/release/trade one or more other big contracts like Webb. I think I understand that Pitta is still on the payroll in '16. Would a release to retire type of thing end his current contract? For all the fans who applaud Jimmy' return with his Lisfranc problem both he and Webb have accumulated a bunch of highlight reels chasing receivers into the end zone. How on earth the team is still unable to even get coverage and assignment right is beyond me. Coaching? Maybe. Who hired the secondary coach? Free agents? Is it their problem they aren't good against good teams. Russell Wilson the best QB in history is the story line after three consecutive QBR scores including the Ravens. How could he miss? Open receivers in the end zone. Not on some trick play. And Clausen played well for not being on the team. Geez Joe struggled for months not syncing with receivers. And his stats were basically the same. Lucy there's a lot of explaining to do.
  3. Your worst case scenario was a bad call to run the clock down deep in your own territory with a running play. Take a knee. You had four yards total rush in the half. Where did Trestman and Harbaugh think Buck was going? Major problem was the TV coverage on Sherman after every play in the second half. Or watching Carroll jaw his gums on what every it is he's chewing like a steer in the pasture who doesn't know what's ahead of him. It took two maybe three TD's to uncovered receivers in the end zone for John to finally accept his fate. He should keep his demeanor under control. I have a feeling falling out with him and his attitude went a long way to the disappearance of Rolondo on the field and why he just preferred to walk away from Baltimore and play good ball for Dallas.
  4. Even if u only free up seven to ten million by cutting and releasing four players out of the top ten contracts it lets u maneuver. You can't invest without capital. I don't expect it because I think the financial geniuses who run the team are not football heads. Bean counters make good accountants but they shouldn't force personnel moves.
  5. What was the pass coverage on Baldwin called? In the end zone was that the Keystone Cops? Not another story of how hard they're playing for the coach and how much the secondary has improved. Young guys are playing for their future. If u want to limit bad penalties stop screaming into the refs ear on national TV.
  6. You can write the positive changes but this is not even close to the team that truly bent but didn't break. When the Ravens were up by less than a TD and the offense gave up the ball late in the fourth you knew Haloti, Ed, Ray and Suggs along with efforts by McPhee were going to hold them. They'd end up in the red zone and u still knew they'd hold off a TD. The offense never had to put up big numbers. Joe had to keep them in the game until the defense got a turn over. That was Ravens ball. Maybe that's why the team never really bothered to get Joe the complementary receives and play makers they needed other than their running game to control the clock. They had a great chemical formula. I think they tried to continue that with their picks following the SB. Now I don't know what the Ravens identity is.
  7. I don't see Cary Williams cashing his guaranteed contract anytime soon. Take PR with a grain of salt. I can dream of Bosa fighting next to CJ for a decade. But Joe is going to need a replacement for Monroe. Maybe a cap casualty somewhere but they'll use a pick somewhere. Ramsey and Hargreaves get so much attention but they may not be worth a first rounder for the Ravens. Depends on how u evaluate Webb and Smith. Not many see them returning to prior high level form and Jimmy has a big contract that needs some ironing out. He's way overpaid regardless of how u split the difference.
  8. I hope they take care of business when Wilson starts taking off. Last game he was on the ground - not even on top of an opposing player like the time this happened to the Ravens - he started squirming around and the defender picked him up by his feet and set him down. No body slam. Nothing like that. Right away he let's go and Wilson takes off running for the end zone. Like the Ravens game except everyone saw him on the ground. No dispute like the ref got his whistle stuck in his pocket. You got to clamp down hard on him.
  9. It's easy to blame a guy whose been sitting on the sidelines and has to play with the remains of the season so to speak. Joe could hardly do any better though we expected miracles from him. Second guessing the T. Taylor release the guys contract is three years at 3.5 million with a relatively for the NFL small signing bonus. He never showed us much because they never gave him the opportunity. You know when he came in it was basically a run or an option to a wide out who usually wasn't open. To date this year for Rex and Bills he's 17 TDs and 4 INTs. Get that cap straight puh-leaze.
  10. The only place u get consistent honest answers about the Ravens are from the above crew and the Mid Atlantic Report with Bruce Laird and Mark Viviano. Sure they tell it like it is. They explain it for the rest of us who aren't coaches in the NFL. And they ordinarily don't pull punches and make excuses for the team and the staff. They may be harsh but they still root for the Ravens. Laird had one comment last week before the Dolphins game how he can't understand how a secondary can be so confused out there. Players looking at each other right before the hike wondering who to cover. Players assuming there's a safety behind them when there isn't one. Things like that he said drive him nuts. He blames the assistant coach for the secondary. Maybe he's right.
  11. Tuck is reliable and maybe the contract is on his mind. Maybe he should save his Instagrams and ads for off season. Kickers are known as head cases but we assume his casual personality eliminates that from his game. Regardless through week 12 he was number eight in the league despite his long kick shortcomings. If Craddock is healthy and available in the draft the Ravens could do worse than pick him up in the middle rounds.
  12. I would imagine Gilmore will have a shortened career. Whether it's his playing style or not "a man's got to know his limitations"(Clint Eastwood: Dirty Harry in one of the great 70's movies "Magnum Force"). Just want to add the Clemson crew has a lot of wide receivers, and Gallman is going to be someone u wish u had. Keep an eye on Boulware. I know we don't need a DL but Iowa's Bazata made short shrift of Jake Conklin. I'm not sure Hargreaves was the best corner out there for Fla. Maye had some tackles. Shaq Lawson.
  13. Really like Buck. With RB set and with the Ravens on a streak they still may land in the top five-ten order. Rang has so many great players - by name and hype of course - in and around their current sixth pick spot one shouldn't confuse wins this season with potential picks. No one in this draft is going to make any team SB champs out of the box. They'll still have shots at Ramsey, Conklin,DeForest and an outside shot at Tunsil (assuming they can unload Monroe). OK most sports analysts see this as a bad team and lets put the crying towel on the side over what coulda shoulda been had they stayed healthy. With a record number of close losses which mirrors Peter Kings substance argument over their SB potential it is obvious the league parity is achieved. Whether that devalues your team or mine is another story. Two or maybe three players from the young guys and two starters from the draft and they're rolling.
  14. It's ironic that the franchise went about face on their future after winning the second SB. They told us they'd not make the same mistake and try to keep everyone after the first one. Hope they find a happy medium. Some pundits point out the obvious that while the franchise devours comp picks its selections don't balance things out. In an effort to let a guy retire a Raven they resign a guy who looking at few good remaining years to keep fans happy but who won't be worth the money or equal the value they could have received for a younger player with promise or a lower cap contract. But as far as injuries it's really a wash. So many teams have lost key players. Naturally without Joe they're in deep water over their heads but one could reasonably say that they could have done a little bit more to go out and improve their skill positions without sacrificing a lot. I mean two years running and all that WR promise and secondary moves in the off season leaves one wondering what they're up to. On the positive it will be easier for them to figure out what needs to be done now that fans are emptying out faster than paying up. It's a business and Steve Bisciotti ought to be looking at this one carefully because lost revenue is something he can't possible tolerate. As the Brooklyn Dodgers used to say "wait til' next year'.
  15. Pity they won't take a look at local Brad Craddock like they didn't take Diggs seriously. Sure come in for your pro day and there's the door.
  16. I see Tunsil in the crystal ball in Purple and Black.
  17. First of all get healthy Joe. For weeks it's been "at least Joe is ok". Now that's gone too. They've come full circle. This is actually the beginning of a new era in the Ravens. Saw Palmer for two consecutive passes in an 80 yd drive last night. One for a long third down to advance the chains. The second an absolute bomb to an open man who went untouched for the score. The long one was just like a Joe pass. It took off like it was going out of the stadium. I actually couldn't believe there'd be someone underneath it when it returned to earth's orbit. It was one of Joe's classic throws. And Palmer had a torn ACL last season.
  18. They need to shore up the defense and dump some contracts while limiting the dead money. Stop giving out four year contracts at market prices to average players. Draft guys for the long haul not the quick fix and dump. Synchronize the cap space and the talent to get the most of your investments. It's like the Front Office has a split personality. U got a GM who knows talent when he sees it, but a money management group that nixes things because they aren't able to calculate value only numbers. That inevitably ends up in overpaying for the Monroes and losing a young stud. I'm not suggesting McPhee would ever be a Suggs but imagine if u had someone like him entering his fourth year rookie contract and a guy with double digit years of experience and injuries to boot. And you put your marbles in the older legs with the vintage reputation. It doesn't end up pretty. Learn how to turn over your personnel so that u aren't left in a bind at the mercy of your competitors. Brandon Williams is a good example of doing it right to replace Haloti. Who's there for Suggs? Za'Darius? Brown? Seriously? For Canty? Urban? Waiting for Birk to practically clear out his locker before settling on Gradkowski? Yikes! Talk about u don't know what u got it's just not Perriman who hasn't been used.
  19. Some people never learn coach, cut him.
  20. Agree about going for first down on 4th and 4. These are no longer "would've been a genius call if it worked". Then again Tom Coughlin never told Eli to run the clock down as he passed and passed. I think they ran two plays in less than ten seconds inside the 15, and ran a third before the two minute time out. They might as well have handed Belichick the game. Doesn't Kraft own part of DraftKings? Ummm..........
  21. Joe's numbers not withstanding the offense looked dull. I guess Eugene's return kept Joe off his back while dumping the ball off to receivers with no YAC for the most part. Jimmy made some nice plays. Hargreaves is a lock next year.
  22. I hope Crockett learns how to play without injuring himself. Watched Luck "sacrifice his body" in his last outing and he took some crushing blows for first downs. Now he's out a while. I admit I loved watching Crockett carry defenders across the goal line or for an extra yard. But like in other contact sports there's a thing about learning how to fall. Whatever he needs to learn as a fan I hope he learns it fast. Thanks for the West update. Didn't know what his prob was. Carry over losses in taxes I get. Carry over dead money sounds ridiculous. It's like paper gains. They don't exist until u trade. The NFL contract maze is so much voodoo economics but it's good to impress the home town fans. Anywho........
  23. DE/OLB round one: Back to the Future (Defense first) Left Tackle in the second round. High motor, smarts, athletic steps, team player. WR in the third fill in the blanks in the fourth CB,S,C etc It would make sense if the Ravens finished less than hoped for at this juncture to trade a top 10 for a middling teen and a high second. I'm not sure there are any players who out of the box look like Amari Cooper at any position this year. Paging Khalil Mack.
  24. Besides Cooper no other first round WR from his draft has performed well. Two others are also sidelined. Agholor has been out since week 5 and just returned to practice. White's been on the PUP since 8/30. Parker's receptions - 49 yards. Dorsett at six receptions for 108 yards. Meanwhile he may still be the man Ozzie wanted. Bell is on the IR. Do u throw out the baby with the bath water? No. U hang in and wait. There is no calculation that guarantees success. U just keep trying. And I don't care if they do or don't get the number one pick. They'll fill in their holes and be back stronger than ever. And they actually could still go .500. Harbs keeps the attitude.
  25. They need someone who actually can spot a healthy horse with talent for their expensive QB. They are in a rut when it comes to finding play makers. If they go to the well once more and put off finding a future receiver to join Breshad and someone with a bill of health for corner and safety it will only make the rebuilding process more difficult. They found Brandon they can find what they need they just have to get their act together. The team on the field represents the state of the front office. Ray has left the building.
