So when someone mentions Brandon I have to wonder without second guessing Ozzie why hasn't our defense looked quite like this one? The sort of dominance and physicality the Broncos showed with few penalties was not so much amazing as surprising. As the clock dwindled down I kept waiting to see the All Mighty Yellow Flag thrown on Denver to give Brady a reprise. They just kept churning out the plays even after a late drive. That's teamwork. That's coaching. That's desire. Can they repeat against the Panther's? I wouldn't bet on it. But it could be the best swan song Peyton will ever get. When I think about the way the Baltimore defense has looked stats don't mean a thing. When the other QB throws do u feel the end of the world is coming? When Brady threw it wasn't the same dynamics we're so accustomed to. Both QB's must have thrown more ground balls and one hoppers and out of bounds passes than any other combo before. I'd like to see that type of defense back here in Baltimore. But balance wins not one of the other. Of all the names the two that stuck in my head were Brady Roby and Cody Latimer. Big Ten players. Late first and late second round picks. Adrian Branch, Malcolm Brown,Jamie Collins, Hightower, Malcolm Butler, Ty Sambrailo, FA's Evan Mathis, Owen Daniels and Darian Stewart. Contributors. Not just big name playmakers.

To keep or not to keep Givens is another way of asking what is the drafting strategy going forward. The falling off of the draft results over the last seven or eight seasons reflects a change in personnel policy. I don't believe that's Ozzie's input. Things took a bit of a turn whether different voices had more power, or simply the turnover in coaching or scouting diluted the formula. There's also a lack of a strategy in terms of the team identity. To even be discussing Givens like the '16 season depends on him, or on Campo is ridiculous. Treadwell? I can't imagine an easier decision in Florida than the one where everyone said not after last year. And not before we get Perriman on the field in a game getting balls from Joe. The first thing they do is figure out if they can keep KO after Joe's contract is renegotiated. Then they can figure where they get an offensive lineman because Hurst is not the answer. Then they need corner. An OLB for the future even if Za' played well. They're not getting younger out there. A DE. This is all obvious. I just hope Oz gets back to the way he used to run the show and the rest of them settle down.

If Ramsey is gone they can consider trading down as far as the Rams or pick a DE/OLB.

This article sounds like they're not really looking to grab Ramsey were he available and they don't have to take Hargreaves because he's not a six on the mocks so far. Easily can wait for a Mackensie Alexander or maybe Kyle Fuller in the second. Brings up the story about there's no play maker at six so trading back with the Rams while picking up their second round pick has merit. There's any number of pass rushers available at fifteen plus the second round opens up possibilities for a WR or OT or whatever on top of whoever u choose with your number 36 like Alexander who looked good in the playoffs until a game ending injury. Just a thought.

CSN's mock 3 has Lawson who in the championship game played with a minor injury but he's gutsy. But their mock also had Bosa to Cleveland, and before the Ravens they assigned Buckner, Stanley and Ramsey. All the regular early picks on the popularity polls. Meanwhile Walter Football has some insight from unnamed sources that Ramsey is over rated as a cover so as a CB he's not a top pick.With Webb in the backfield with less stress on his physicality I am guessing the contract he has and the view of the head coach will not be voting for a corner. The view from sports pages all season long has been they lack the pass rush with the absence of Suggs. Well he's back but now they suddenly think he may not be up to the task. I think they need a starter. Darn if Shazier didn't get better. I'm glad they'll pick ahead of the Steelers. Those bums almost got to Foxboro but that senior citizen in Denver held it together. According to Hensley Ed wasn't coachable! That's so funny it's a shame to even put that in print. It must have been tough to be overshadowed by the future HOF for a lot of coaches.

They let Darian Stewart go and they pick up Lewis and Arrington. Even on this site let alone RSR the production from Lewis and Arrington has been unsatisfactory. And Stewart is the leader for the Broncos secondary. Someone keeps making the same mistakes on talent.

It's unfortunate they contracted an average starting LT at the market rate for a superior LT. In retrospect had they put KO there when the need opened they could have saved themselves cap space.

Highlight of the Cincy game was DeCastro shoving Burfict into the end zone. Minor interest in seeing x-Ravens John Simon, Jah Reid (starting guard and sometimes shifting to tackle), and Fitzgerald Toussaint throughout the day. I was surprised how easily the Steelers ran on Cincy. While stats can be tossed around and misused to prove an invalid point there have been loads of stories documenting the evidence about the Ravens production this year. Bring in Ken Burns for this show! Anywho not surprisingly the blogs are filled to capacity with memories of the secondary tripping over their heels and three stooging it up trying to bring down AJ Green. Then the presser fulfills my expectations that all is right in the Castle after a late season surge in stats for the defense. That volley is met with reasons not limited to the level of QB they faced - Wilson and Smith notwithstanding. Be that as it may I felt it was a lost cause to prove much and going with the W-L columns was proof positive for Parcells so why quibble. Then staring at me on ESPN smack dab on the Raven%u2019s page are the stats for points for and against for the division. I thought it gave another perspective to the argument that they were inches from going to the playoffs and laying to rest the dreaded injury curse. Two teams in the playoffs have subs at QB. Houston has used four QB's quietly tying the Ravens season record. Back to the stats the Ravens are how shall I say humbled by the numbers for points for and agin'. About 100 points on both ends. They scored about a century fewer points and gave up about a Benjamin's more over the course of the season. That's a 200 point spread. I've heard Ozzie speak of things like how many receivers they want and Joe campaigning for offensive weapons like he's going to work at Lockheed-Martin%u2019s Skunkworks. If they want fans to believe they'll do more than "find" someone in the sixth round they believe has promise akin to sixth rounder Antonio Brown than they need to be forthright and come up with someone whose skills are adequately demonstrated in college by more than a pair of fingers crossed. I can overlook the first round for a pass rusher. But things start to slip fast after the second. BTW I disliked to a greater degree watching three quarters of the Cincy-Steeler's game than I would have enjoyed watching the Ravens trounce them. There was some virtue in Marvin and his cast falling short again. But not much. There's something stinky in Pittsburgh and it's not the smelting of steel.

You cut the bum when it costs u the least - after June 1. You back up your bet first by drafting Ronnie Stanley or Taylor Decker. The downside is if u think your team evaluates an OLB like Floyd or a DE like Buckner or a corner/safety like Ramsey or Alexander even more. Leave it up to the big boys who carry the weight and bring home the millions to figure this out.

A reason for creating the ultra high contract numbers is it inflates the value of the team on paper much the way equity in a corporation does that. Another more important reason is contracts generate interest simply because the numbers themselves are astronomical. The entertainment industry creates its own headlines. If fans thought their players made average wages they might not bother pay hundreds of dollars a year to see them in person, buy their jerseys and generally participate in hero worship. But two tackles who've garnered attention are MSU's Conklin and OSU's Decker who are potential round two picks Contract talk is premature but they made up their minds a long time ago that Jimmy is their man. KO appears gone but IMHO so is Monroe. I'll guess that it may be very hard to hold onto KO even if the stars aligned and Eugene were jettisoned after June 1. As far as I can tell they'd save substantially on dead money, over six million. That would open up possibilities but with all the PR for KO including this video on the page of the pancake he still had a negative PFF. For what it's worth they'd be better off sending KO on his way. From the moment he arrived fans around here predicted overnight Pro Bowler. He's good but with all their needs including the need to be cap space friendly u let him go for a big boy from the Big Ten. Besides Jensen has that same crazy look in his eye that Yanda does. U gotta make room for receivers and corners who become available in FA. They need someone who can play a role for a year or step in right away for Suggs in the first. Too many guys like Hargreaves have come and gone and never really mattered. Wait til the third for a gem corner.
