I can't wait for the new season of Psych.
I don't know if this has been talked about, but I loved The Expendables 2. But I am also a big Stallone/80's action movie guy. All the cheesy one liners are right up my alley haha. It was action packed and funny as hell at the same time.
Anybody seen The Good Son with Macauley Culkin and Elijah Wood? I saw it last night and I enjoyed it. It's a good thriller and is disturbing but in a good way
And why not?
Don't know if this has been mentioned but Titanic 3D was quite good. Same movie obviously but I thought the 3D worked well.
I so need to see this movie. Looks really funny. I also have Hobo With a Shotgun queued up.
That movie is sickening...
Snake Plissken is now on my list of favorite movie characters. Snake rules!
Anyone ever seen Escape From New York with Kurt Russell? It's another Carpenter flick and it's quite entertaining if you ask me. Young Kurt Russell was a boss haha
You can never be too late for that. I just saw it for the first time like last year. Wasn't too bad.
EDIT: By the way I just watched The Outsiders. Not for the first time. Emiliooooo!
I enjoyed it a lot. I love Carpenter's Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, and Precinct. All Good stuff....I really hated that one dude for shooting the little girl though that was brutal
I may be late by like 30 years haha but I'm about to watch John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13...I'm a big Carpenter fan so I'm expecting good things
I've been watching Edge's Decade of Decadence DVD on Netflix and boy do I miss The Rated R Superstar :/ Edge was my favorite and wrestling isn't the same without him.
I just saw the movie Shutter Island for the first time and I really enjoyed it. It messes with your mind and makes you think. I enjoy movies like that
Anyways I recommend it for anybody that hasn't seen it.
This is why the original Halloween was better than Zombie's version. Nobody could top John Carpenter in his prime.
Though I do like Zombie as a director and wouldn't mind seeing him trying to make something other than horror.
Agreed.....Just watched The Terminator. What a great movie. I like it better than T2
I liked him because he showed humility towards his mom and sister even though he killed Elvis when he was 10 lol. I like his version of Myers. He didn't back down from anyone when he was young.
I think I would like it better as a stand alone horror film, but it's just not what Halloween is supposed to be in my opinion. The thing that made Michael scary originally was that we had no background knowledge of him and had no clue what this Shape was and why it was doing what it was doing. And also, that he was a normal sized human being that just wouldn't stop getting up no matter what. I think giving us a look at Michael's past and making him a 7' tall monster sort of took away from what Michael Myers is supposed to be and what made him scary in the first place.......That's not to say Zombie's view wasn't interesting though. Rob Zombie's H2 on the other hand was flat out atrocious haha. If you haven't seen it then don't haha.
Watched the 2007 remake of Halloween again last night. Great, great movie.
I'd give it a 5. I'm a huge Halloween fan and hated what Zombie did. Turned michael into a 7 foot tall white trash overly violent character and made him look like a mountain man in H2 which sucked SOOOO bad....I don't even count Zombie's remakes as part of Halloween....Also hate how Mike is portrayed as this murderer who was into arts and crafts hahaha. Michael Myers would never sit down and make a mask.
I hate them because they exist. Halloween isn't outdated, that was just a complete cash in I remember seeing part of it and getting upset over it.
Yep. I got pretty heated too haha. If there are gonna be more Halloweens, they need to pick it up after Resurrection, without Zombie, and perhaps bring back Jamie Lee Curtis even though it looked as though she died in Resurrection which I hated.
the only horror genre that I could expect that from is zombies... because it's part of what makes them scary... but as far as a "monster" hunting people, I don't need to see them pull out organs or w/e, Insidious did a very good job imo
Exactly. This is one of the reasons that I hated Rob Zombie's Halloween remakes.
no I didn't know how i felt about it, might as well, it comes on @ night... i'll be working night shift... with next to nothing to do. What days does it come on?
Not a real big scary movie fan, because it's gotten away from alot of scares and just more brutality (gore etc). If i'm paying 8 dollars for a scary movie, I want to be scared/creeped out, not sick.
I agree completely. Scream isn't too over the top in that category. At least not nearly as much as others.
they are, but I saw the most recent scream movie.. it was more of a comedy then anything.
The Scream movies have always been very self aware and sort of humorous. Sorry but people hatin on Scream is sort of like people hating on Joe Flacco for me. I get very defensive haha.
tells you how bad that franchise is doing then
You mean horror in general? Scream and Halloween are two of the most popular ever.
I bought Scream 4 yesterday and watched it for the first time since I saw it in theatres and it reminded me just how much I love these movies. Halloween and Scream are by far the best horror franchises in my opinion, particularly their originals. Can't wait for Scream 5.
I loved Scream 1, this one was lacking big time in my opinion.
By the way, I have a 103" screen in the basement
What was it lacking in your opinion?
In all seriousness, it was a HORRIBLE movie. Cheesy and corny as hell. Barely kept my attention for the full 100 minutes or so!
You obviously are not a big scream fan..whatever I liked it.Maybe you need to see it on a big screen instead of on a computer screen haha

My opinion on Expendables 3:
Â
This post will look awfully familiar to anybody who frequents Orioles Hangout.

This movie is getting a bad rap on the internet, and it also had a leak that allowed thousands of people to download it illegally. However, I saw it last night and loved it. Keep in mind that I may be an Expendables/Stallone fanboy, but I honestly cannot see how some people are calling it terrible. If you love 80's action movies, then you should love this movie. It was bad butt and it was funny as hell at the same time.
Obviously it did have a few problems though. Annunciation was a problem with a couple of lines and it can be hard to understand Stallone sometimes anyways. Statham even makes a joke about this in the movie. Also, this installment is rated PG-13 so it's not as bloody/gory as the first two. There are some unrealistic scenes but that is to be expected in movies like this. The acting from some of the younger cast members is not great, but Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz are professional fighters so you can;t expect too much out of them when they don't have too much acting experience.
I thought the good far outweighed the bad however. Mel Gibson was outstanding as the bad guy. Probably better than Van Damme in Expendables 2 actually. Harrison Ford was a great substitution for Bruce Willis' character. A lot of people questioned Kelsey Grammar's inclusion in the film, but he delivered two of my favorite lines in the movie. Both had me laughing my butt of for next the 10 minutes of the movie. Speaking of laughs, Antonio Banderas was also hilarious. He provided a lot of comic relief but was also pretty bad butt at the same time.
Overall, this movie was very entertaining and anybody who grew up loving Sly, Arnold, Gibson, Snipes, and all these guys should absolutely love this movie. Don't listen to movie critics. See this movie and form your own opinion! I promise you'll be entertained at the very least!
