"as recently as yesterday morning, John, Elway made very clear that, win or lose, Fox would be coming back."
Hmmm....
Sounds exactly like the same load of of malarkey Elway kept repeating about Tebow, right up until he signed Peyton. What a slime ball
Broncos OC Adam Gase is a busy man this weekend. He has interviews scheduled with the Bears, 49ers and Falcons.
Redskins have fired, or to use Jed York's phrase, "mutually" agreed to part ways with Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett.
Seriously?
And this is a guy who is supposedly getting his team ready for a playoff run?
The cockiness of the Broncos never ceases to amaze me. Thank God for Kubiak's "uh, I'm a little too busy this week."
same injury as Romo's.
Pictures from the scene on NFLN. Cam smiling before going on the stretcher. The backboard, C-collar, etc is protocol for any roll-over, doesn't mean anything.
Eyewitnesses report his truck was struck and flipped three or four times, landing on its' side on a bridge - on NFLN right now. He was awake and talking. Injuries won't be confirmed until he gets to the hospital. Happened right in front of the Charlotte Observer building
Cam Newton in car accident.

both legs broken.
Jeez, that's horrible. Senile old lady blew through a red light...
10 days
same ACL, too. Re-injured the repair.
I feel really bad for him, they're putting together a great season.
This is just so wrong. Too funny!!!
OMG!
Thank you for making my day. Some of the most hilarious crap ever!
I might not leave actually until Marchish... Not for the NFL stuff but I might check in once a week to update with my marathon training. If I finish the race needless to say I'll have to brag about it somewhere haha.
Anyway to limit my posts to one a week mods?
sorry, SAM.
You'll just have to learn some self-control all on your own. Remember, every addict starts out saying, "well, just once won't hurt me."
I'm ready for a timeout, thanks. ![]()
Sooo.....
Any news on Greg Hardy yet?
Been watching Longmire (A&E, Monday nights... first 2 seasons on Netflix). It's really good.
Great show. Season 2 is really starting to heat up - lots of storylines coming to a head.
Finally finished True Detective. Absolutely insane. One of the top miniseries I think I've ever watched.
Totally agree. The writing and the acting on that show is phenomenal - McConaughey is simply amazing. Just finished watching it all the way through for the third time, and every time it just gets better.
The main article I read about Flowers getting cut named potential landing spots for him and the Ravens weren't one of them. I think that he would be a long-shot at best. The injury bug would definitely be a factor in determining how we use our remaining cap money.
I agree.
After what happened with Pitta last year, I don't see us spending any of our cap until well into training camp.
Kapiti, New Zealand. Been a big fan since 2000 when I first saw balti smash cinci at PSInet stadium, as it was then called. Was new to the USA and working in Reston VA at the time, no way was I gonna start following the redskins. Balti fans were great, called into a tiny local bar near the stadium on game day and was like bars back here in NZ before rugby games. Felt right at home.
Welcome, Dave!
I am thinking the window is just about closed for Manning and the Broncos. While I have tremendous respect for Elway as a player his front office antics are questionable.
I kind of lost all respect for Elway when he swore up and down Tebow was going to remain on the team and then traded him literally two days later.
It's an interesting contrast, while our fans are upset we haven't addressed the offense, theirs are upset they're not addressing the defense. I mean Cody Latimer? How many WR's do you need? John's like a greedy kid at Christmas, can't resist taking all the shiny toys while his little brother is getting socks.
Actually, now they're saying it was Mosley.
They tried to move up and draft Mosley, but the teams they talked to wanted too much in compensation. Elway said in the interview that "it was not even close" in terms of what they were willing to spend. And of course, the Ravens got Mosley at #17, so it was never a realistic option for them. He didn't say how they rated Shazier, but the guy they were targeting was Mosley.
And then Elway went and made all those trades in the later rounds for negligible picks. Fans not happy over there.
I wonder who they wanted that badly
I think one of the safeties, Clinton-Dix or Pryor.
Fans on their board were also really high on Mosely and hoping he would fall.
Apparently the Broncos were actively trying to trade up to the middle of the first, but weren't willing to pay what teams were asking. I'm sure Ozzie was listening, and probably would have done it if Elway was willing to meet his price.
Yes, that is correct, the extension was signed in 2010. My problem with him is his constant clamoring for money a couple years after signing a contract. It is rather annoying. Nobody put a gun to his head and forced him to put his name on the dotted line.
Yeah, that kind of negotiating your contract in the media was hard enough to tolerate from Ed Reed.
There's a huge difference between "being willing to listen to offers" and actively shopping a player.
This inside source also said (in that same post) that Castillo and Jacoby were as good as gone.
It's not always about the money, as Jacoby, Pitta and Suggs have recently shown. Torrey has said he wants to be here long-term, that this team is like family to him. And he's got leadership intangibles and ties to the community that the organization highly values, I just can't see them giving that up in exchange for an expensive FA, no matter how good.
Makes much more sense to give him one more year to try and up his game, then negotiate a contract. Who knows, maybe that strategy might "backfire" the way it did with Flacco.
Many options, but if Moses is there, I think we have to take him -- and pray that one of the versatile FSU safeties are there in the 3rd.
Have to agree with you, there.
I love Moses - super intelligent (UVa grad - Harvard of the South, right?), well-spoken, versatile (the Ravens love linemen who can play multiple positions), and a leader.
What made Matt Birk so special wasn't his size or physicality, it was his brains. We all saw what happened last year when that was missing, and the inability to grasp the complexities of the ZBS is why McKinnie and Oher are gone, and Gino's been replaced.I'll be in heaven if Moses falls to us.
Rolando seems to be a bit weird. I wonder if he's someone histrionic in personality. He seems to crave attention from his legal outbursts to claiming he's ready to return to retiring to unretiring to retiring again. He doesn't seem to know what he wants. He might have some mental health disorder or some personality disorder. I won't hate on the guy. No need. I wish him the best of luck in life but I'm happy we don't have to deal with the headache he brings.
I've wondered that myself, particularly after the Sun article where Cody callled him a genius, the smartest man he'd ever met. There's such a fine line between brilliance and insanity, which doesn't lend itself to team sports - or life, for that matter.
I just feel sad for him but I am kinda glad the saga has ended. He was evidently a very bright kid, but he seems to have a lot of Ricky Williams without the dope and travel! Oh wait, some of Pacman Jones as well!
you know Ricky used the dope to self-medicate a diagnosed mental illness - until he discovered yoga and meditation. Broke my heart when he retired, he was one of my favorite players.
besides, it's ridiculous to say that Jacoby was out of shape because of DWTS.
He himself said (several times) that the stamina and conditioning needed for the dance competition was way harder than football.
When did he finish his degree? Last week? I doubt it. And how exactly do you know he's busy with raising his kids when he's divorced and living in another state?
Garrett Downing, LFW:
"He returned to Alabama to raise his two sons, and also re-enrolled at the University of Alabama where he is on schedule to finish his degree this year. He reconnected with former college coach Nick Saban and stayed in shape by working out at his old college facility."
finishing a degree (like conditioning) does not happen in a week.
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, if you were there and how you describe the situation actually happened.
I'm just suggesting there might be more to this than what the media's putting out there, and that (as in most situations) the team knows more about this than we do. I trust their judgement, and look forward to watching how this plays out.
If this guy's still the same old headcase, no way Harbs is going to let him near the team.

Pundits on NFLN now discussing how the Broncos seemingly went into that game yesterday without a game plan.
Think it has anything to do with the fact that half their coaches were out interviewing for new jobs over the bye?
