  1. I just hope that we decide to sit tight and draft at #6. It's repeatedly said that we are never in this situation so we should take advantage to being here and take the player that we feel will have a high percentage of being a difference maker from day 1. We have constantly been drafting very low, which is a great thing as far as we do not have bad seasons all that often but we ususlly have to make deals to move up to get a player we covet. This year we don't have to do that and we have a good chance to get a Stud (their words). I say stay put.

Cool... feel pretty confident that's not a segment of the market the NFL cares about. The typical NFL fan that the NFL caters to and attracts isn't the fan who is only watching one game a week on ESPN. The Ravens also aren't making much money off said fan either.

And if we circle all the way back, the people on these boards in particular (people who clearly have internet, lots of free time, and probably watch every game... though sometimes I question if they've ever even watched one) who complain about the lack of prime time games don't have any of these issues. So again, I'd ask... why do these people want it?

I doubt the kind of people who are complaining about lack of prime time games on an internet fanboard are the kind of people who are doing so because they're concerned about other people not being able to see the games. They're doing it for some personal benefit only, of which I'm asking specifically what that personal benefit is?

I don't see practically any benefits to the team itself, which SHOULD be what fans care about.

It's got to benefit the team in some manner if the Head Coach and the Owner have been asking for one.

I mean its 2016... we're kind of past that point. Online streaming of games, NFL Sunday ticket, tens of thousands of bars showing games, etc. We're kind of past the point of the NFL or its fans having an exposure issue and not being able to see the games they want.

In particular, note that Monday night games are shown on ESPN, a network that either requires an internet connection or some sort of cable/satellite package to watch generally. Its not ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, etc.

If fans outside of Baltimore have an issue with watching Ravens games, I don't think a Monday Night home game every few years is really going to make them happy. They're either finding a way to watch the game like tens of thousands of fans do, or they're not watching it at all. Those aren't the kinds of fans the NFL is concerning itself with.

I'm not going to argue the point however even government assisted living has cable included, so a ESPN game would be good. Lots of people don't have computers still (believe it or not) and they follow sports by reading about it. Government phone aren't iPhones so I think you get the point. There are still many people that would love to see a prime time game that they wouldn't usually get to see.

I mean maybe. I'm not convinced he's that upset about not playing on Monday.. I think he's more or less saying that IF he has to play on Monday, he'd prefer at home (which 32 NFL teams would say the same thing).

Its a tough sell (and frankly, makes no sense) why a team would actually want to play on Monday night. The only way that's beneficial is if you have a bye week immediately after the game.

It's exposure. Ravens have a huge following and Prime time games gives fans a chance to see a Ravens game. The Ravens are generally never televised on Sundays except in Maryland. To see a game they have to have the "Ticket" which is way overpriced and most people cannot afford it. Sunday at 1pm might be o.k with you but what about all the fans outside of Baltimore?

OK, but why do we even want one? Where's the gain?

Sometimes I think fans want primetime games just so that they can say they had one, without getting any actual benefit out of it.

I'd go out on a limb and say the team probably doesn't want it, and as a fan I don't want it.

You give me 16 1pm games on Sunday and I'll be as happy as ever.

Never understood the desire for a MNF game, home or away.

The Team does want one. Harbaugh was very vocal about it last year as was Bischotti.

I'm not McJacket, but here you go.  Select the pre/post option to see the difference in dead money and cap savings.

If they were to cut him it would benefit to do it after June 1st.

Thanks!! Very helpful. Only a hit of 2.2 mil in dead money after June 1st, but a cap savings of 5 mil. I don't think there is any hard decision here. Unless there is a team that would give us a draft pick which I doubt.

Yeah, and thats when i said your one example was hardly worth remembering...because it really isnt.

so like i said: what's 7 years ago got to do with now, especially in light of the rest of his career?
What you're taking about is akin to firing firing Steve Jobs because he stole a candy bar from a gas station when he was 8.

All kidding and arguing aside; I love Sizzle. Always have. I think it would not be uncommon for someone to Wonder if what happened 7 years ago with the season he had and the weight issue, could it happen again? because:

He is coming off another injury and he is older.

    Coming off a 5-11 season

All his close friends are gone

Contemplating just how much longer he is going to play

NOT that he IS going to do anything different than the last 7 years. He made a promise that he would never do it again and he has kept that promise to date.

Just saying that for someone to WONDER about it is natural.

Have you honestly seen a year where Suggs didn't bring his all? Or wasn't the most dominant player on the field wearing Purple and Black? Suggs is a battle tested warrior. Be grateful for how long he has played and that he is still on this team. We need more guys like Sizzle.

Actually, yes. I love Suggs but I do remember him coming in waaay overweight and it took until a few games in to get close to sacks. That was big news a few years ago. If he has been rehabbing like crazy and conditioning  then there should not be a problem. It's funny how we hear about Flacco and Steve Smith's rehab and how far along they are but nothing on Suggs? Just saying.

I'd be extra cautious with Ryan Clady. When a team basically gives up on their starting LT, it's usually a huge red flag. The broncos coaching staff and FO knows exactly what they can expect of Clady. Apparently it's not enough to want him back... Okung is a good LT, but nearly not so great that his arrival would be a legit reason to get rid of a LT the team deems as good enough to keep otherwise...

Agree, especially since Clady actually offered to restructure to stay, and they still said no. Big red flag.

I'm assuming Trent Dilfer is not on the list because he didn't start. No matter. Steve Mcnair? Now I'm wondering. Why is Troy Smith even on this list? (never really started maybe a handful of games in his entire career).Chris Redman (same boat).

Tony Banks had Flacco type of numbers. Switching our philosophy at or during our playoff runs works well for us. Switching our offensive philosophy has proven to work well for us. ex. (Cam for Caldwell) (Banks for Dilfer)

Jeff blake played one season for us on the back end of his career. A replacement to Elvis I believe. Because Grbac liked to throw picks. Scott Mitchell was also a one year man in 1999. Who only played in 2 games.

Vinny Testaverde was really good here, I'm not sure why he is on this list to be honest. Statistically he has the best single season at the QB position in Ravens history. He just fumbled to much.

Eric Zier played in 16 games in three seasons with the Ravens and 28 games for his entire NFL career.

I love that you like Flacco. But there is hardly anyone that you can compare him to. All we have had is Plug and play QB's because we built our team around our defense. This doesn't mean he is very good. There just isn't enough QB's in our limited history to compare him to. To be brutally honest, he's really just an average Qb that is lucky to be on this team. Not the other way around.

O.K How many Playoff games have ALL those others won? How many Superbowls? Case dismissed. All the "he did pretty good for us" doesn't mean a thing. I'm not a Flacco lover, I am stating fact. Is he a big stat guy? No. Has he won playoff games 6 of 8 years? yes Superbowl? You betcha and he was the MVP. I'll give you Romo, Stafford, M.Ryan etc. They have won Nothing. I will take Flacco and all his winning.
