Amoukamora is another J Smith and we can't afford to have two CBs who can't stay on the field.
We might sign Wagner but my guess is we lose all our free agents but we will get 3 comp picks for them next year. My guess is two third rounders and a fourth for Juszczyk.
We should understand what we have in Perriman with all the hype about Ross running 4.22. Perriman did the same carrying almost 30 more pounds. Perriman can be a dominant receiver if we can just keep him on the field and improve his hands.
In my opinion the time to find Flaccos successor was last year. This year there is no doubt we need to grab a qb in the draft and sooner not later. I know it sounds like jumping the gun, but second or third round we need to grab someone who can compete with Flacco. If you look at Flacco since 2012, he isn't even a good starter much less a franchise QB. He needs competition to motivate him to spend the time to get better. What we have is not going to motivate him to do anything.
No way we use a 2nd or 3rd on a Qb. Too many other holes to fill. We can always get a veteran back-up Qb if needed.
We watch most players leave because they are not worth what other teams are offering. What has Torrey done with San Fran for all that money? I'll answer that- nothing. What did Paul Kruger do? nothing. The list goes on and on. Those were very smart decisions by Ozzie, yet all people want to do is bash him. Fans get too attached to some players and not necessarily because of production, and when they leave for absurd amounts of money, it's Ozzie's fault.
41 minutes ago, bioLarzen said:Mangold would certainly make all the sense and be an upgrade (provided he's helathy, of course) - but I'm afraid he belongs to wishfulthinking folder: players casually associated with the Ravens, but almost surely way too expensive for our cap situation - players like Garcon, Jefferson, Pryor, Sheard, Calais Campbell, Connor Barwin etc...
If we wanted him bad enough, there is probably a way to do it.

1. I would not feel like a down grade if any of our TE's had to step into that spot. We are loaded at TE and can get equal or better production for significantly less money!
2. Watson is just simply a much better deal (as a veteran presence) then Pitta. Even if Pitta takes a pay cut... it will probably still be a higher salary then Watson- who is at least equally as talented (I think more)
3. NO YAC.... Pitta gets no yards after the catch and while a sure handed guy who can move the move the chains is highly valued in this league. Pitta simply does not move the chains. Look at his stats. Sure he gets a lot of catches but that is the majority of Joes meaningless check downs. (Look at the failed pass completion stats from yesterdays article). Pitta does not move the chains and cannot turn the small catches into something meaningful anymore. (and frustrates Ravens fans to death by always running routes short of the 1st down).
No YAC renders much of his production meaningless.
4. His presence hinders the progression of our young TE's. Gilmore, Maxx, Waller, and Boyle all seem to simply not be getting the reps they need bc of a veteran presence who ceiling is fairly mediocre.
5. BC the passing game is hindered by Joe's reliance on Pitta. He looks for Pitta so much that he does find the open WR's or give the play time to develop
6. Gilmore, Boyle and probably Maxx are better TE's for our re-vamping the run game (and can still catch and move the chains).
7. Waller and Watson can split the seams and stretch the field and keep both the LBs and S's honest where as Pitta doesn't bring that same threat.
8. Pitta is an injury away from his career being over. (high investment for someone so fragile). Albeit, all players are only a play a way but Pitta has shown a propensity to serious injury and he commands more money then most of TE's put together (other then Watson)
9. I think he would make great trade bait. More so then probably Maxx, Gilmore, Boyle, or Waller (and at least equal to Watson). With as many needs as we have and the depth in this years draft... Pitta could land us a 4th round pick who can be an integral part of our future. (maybe 5th)
10. and this is no small point. Cutting Pitta puts Joe on notice. He seems to have called the shots on Trestman. He seems to have called the shots on retaining Marty. Joe had his way and didn't produce... now it is time for the management to due what is best for the team and tell Joe to stopping worrying about FO decisions and worry about playing QB and producing. This is not about taking care of your buddy or some boys club this is the NFL and with out production you get no say.
Agree. #3, #4, #5 = Nail on head
I think Quadry has a valid question as to why can't we develop young receivers. Is it just a coaching issue? Sounds too simple to be just that. You would think that they could at least learn from the vets that we have had, and we have had some good ones- Mason, Boldin, SSR and so on. I don't understand it either. That is really the only position that we see the slowest development (or none at all)
18 minutes ago, bioLarzen said:It was, indeed, painful to see how often Flacco threw to targets yards short of the yellow line on third downs. TRhis, and his apparent utter reluctance to speed up things in the 2-minute drill periods, casually jogging to the line like there were minutes left, when the clock showed 35 seconds, with one timeout - only to throw a pass short ofd the first down marker, to the middle of the field, leaving no chance for the target to step out of bounds stopping the clock... It genuinely seemed like he couldn't care less if he tried... And I'm not saying it was the case - but it certainly seemed so.
Agree. The "Non Hurry up- Hurry up" kills me everytime. You know it's bad when even the game announcers are saying that there seems to be no urgency.
26 minutes ago, bioLarzen said:If history is any kind of indication, we're almost surely be without all three of these guys - Brandon Williams, Wagner and Juszczyk - next season. Yes, there are always fantastic scenarios in the news whch yould result in retaining our star FA'S - but then it never happens.Guys, if Torrey Smith - whose whole life was about Baltimore and the Ravens, who was loved and respected in Baltimore, and knew he'd be a kley cog if he stayed - could leave Baltimore for San Francisco because of the money, then a Brandon Williams, a Rick Wagner and a Juice certainly will. And that's just the way it is in the NFL. That's their job - it's just natural they'll go wherever they're paid the best.
I don't see any team offering Juszczyk any more than what we would offer.IMO he is in for a rude wake up call.
46 minutes ago, RavensDieHard21 said:Lol that 10 million a year number came from an estimation from some dope on NFL.com.
if Ozzie can get him 5 Yr deal around $38-43 million with half guaranteed, I think he can seal the deal.
Not that laughable considering he has already turned down a offer that we have made, and it was probably around 6 or 7.
2 minutes ago, leziRav said:Ok but are you sure the pass rusher that will drafted will be good? Are you sure that Judon and Z.Smith will be better next year? That is why you need Dum at reduced price in the team. When healthy, he is our best pass rusher after Suggs. He is a proven pass rusher and has only been bad because of injury. Even while injuried, he still has a better sack number than all of our young pass rushers. If he takes a pay cut, he will help the team. If cut he will be good in another team. We need Dum, Webb, Pitta and Wallace at reduced prise. They still have things to give to the team and help develop the young kids in the team.
Don't expect Dumervil to take a pay cut. Many teams with huge cap space will pay him what he wants.
22 minutes ago, omar586 said:we're more likely to sign WAGNER than WILLIAMS,
I don't think so. $10 mil per is what the starting price for Wagner is. If we had to choose 1, Williams would be it. IMO
That Statement has been made on these boards many many time including by myself. People just won't face it. It's easier to keep blaming Ozzie and Harbaugh.
3 hours ago, bioLarzen said:"Have the New England Patriots been so successful over the years because of their continuity? Or have they had continuity because they win so much?"
Continuity is only productive if you have the right guys. We've all seen what "good" insisting on Cam Cameron did to the O back then, and I'm afraid we'll all see what "good" staying with Mornhinweg will do... The Pats were right to stick with their guys because they had the right ones... So, it all starts with identifying the right guy for each position. If that doesn't happen, continuity will, instead of being the seed of continued success, be the root of the downfall of an organization.
I think people are "afraid" because they forget that Marty came in and took over Trestmans offense. People should hold off on the "he sucks" talk until he is given a chance to come in and formulate his own schemes and his brand of offense. Then they can critique him. Just my opinion.
35 minutes ago, RavenRampage said:We have a bunch of options. It'll be interesting to see. Corner, wide receiver, pass rusher, and offensive tackle could all be in play. Honestly, I think pass rusher and offensive tackle may be a better choice for the first round due to the depth at the secondary positions, and receiver isn't as high of a priority.
I have to disagree. We need a corner or 2. When Smith went out injured we all saw what happened.
34 minutes ago, usmccharles said:I don't know if your being serious or not. McCown has torched us for 450 yards, Ben has thrown for 6 TDs on us, Dalton has picked us apart before. If Tyrod went to the Browns, he could do some damage there, they have good weapons and have 2 first round picks. This mentality of bashing the Browns is a little out of order considering how tough they play us. Werent they beating us 21-0 at halftime this year or something... We may not fear a QB, but I bet you we respect them
And don't forget Big Ben who torched us in the 4th Qtr to derail our Playoff hopes, and also the unforgettable 7 Touchdowns that Peyton Manning put up on us.

give the guy a chance.. we have NO CLUE what hes capable of...he will be just fine..
It's the same people who will come on here next off season and say how they told everyone that KC was worth the pick and he just needed time. The same people that came on here and said that C. Upshaw wasn't worth keeping. They didn't seem to know how well he played for us, especially against the run. Now they are on here saying that we should have kept him and it's all Harbaugh's fault . Morningwig is Cam Cameron all over again, soooo tired of wimpy herbaugh hiring his cronies, every fan knows the last Super Bowl we won was RAY's Super Bowl not herbaughs, I hope I am wrong , but without a miracle just can't see past 8-8 again this year.......
Giving Ray too much credit. He didn't even play the whole year. Missed games due to injury. Don't remember him playing offense either. I love the guy but no way does he get ALL the credit.
13 minutes ago, BiggMack91 said:With these coaching changes I don't see any difference from last year. That being said we will have the same problems in 2017 that we did in 2016. Mornhinweg is not a winning coordinator an we will essentially have the same offense we did last year which was ok at best and was very inconsistent from week to week. But the run game was a key missing factor in 2016 an the hiring of Greg Roman is a good first step but will he alone be enough to bring the run game back to baltimore that might be the biggest ? going into the 2017 season, in my opinion I don't think so but anything can happen. As far as the Defense goes its just pitiful to watch Dean play soft zone coverage having the CB 7-12 yards off the line which gave AB all those big plays to knock us out the playoffs and you could say the same when we played the cowboys an they gave Dez 10 yards of space almost everytime he lined up.And as far as the pass rush goes it all ties to the same problem until we have a good secondary that can cover for at least 4-8 seconds we will continue to lack in the pass rushing category. But ultimately nothing will change an we will not hold another Lombardy up until the Harbaugh era is over.
Really?? That is what most people said when we hired him. Who is that? we can't win with this guy because I've never heard of him! Yet the man has come in and won a boatload of games and a Super Bowl. SMH
It's funny that it seems to work out like this a lot. Gilmore has had multiple injuies, hardly played and is coming into a contract year. He will probably ball out and then some team will offer him way too much money and we lose him to free agency. Seem to go that way. Lol
13 hours ago, JamesA119 said:I disagree. We would have still won without Flacco. The fact really is that without pro bowl players around him, Flacco can't even get to the playoffs let alone Super Bowl .
NEVER would have happened. Flacco went on that epic run through the Playoffs and Super Bowl MVP. No Flacco = No Trophy
10 hours ago, usmccharles said:High priced and injury prone? Not a chance/ no thanks.
How has this organization catered to Joe? We have 2 weapons that has been drafted that actually worked out: Torrey and RR. Joe isnt a Brady or a Manning, he does need good weapons. Look at our SB year, we didnt have an elite WR (i dont think we need one) and Joe played lights out. We need a well balanced team, we dont need "elite"
I mentioned Patterson awhile back, i would be happy just making him a return specialist because we really need that explosion
Our FO will never pay him what he wants to just be a returner. Speed or not.

36 minutes ago, J.O.14 said:I'm 100% sure they were 4-0 against our division this year....
Point is that they would not be able to win the division EVERY year as they have done in the east. If they do not win their division every year, they do not get the byes and they do not end up in that many Super Bowls. Yep, I'm hating on them because I can't stand them.
If the Patriots only played in a REAL division like the AFCN.
