"Flacco has proven he can lead a team deep into the playoffs and even to a Super Bowl title when given the right weapons." Absolute key sentence here. Flacco is this year what I have always thought he was, an above average/good QB. As much as people think they are cap/money analysts by criticizing Flacco's salary, that is just the going rate for an above average/good QB who can win games in the right situation. When too many weapons are taken away PARTICULARLY DEEP threats to match Flacco's strength (BIG ARM), it shows his glaring weaknesses. Unfortunately, this year the Ravens just don't have the extra 'it' factor in any phase of the game. There are no Jacoby splash plays on special teams, not enough defensive stops, turnovers, or TD's, and no over the top explosive offensive plays other than wearing out SSS again before the 2nd half of the year. The fact the all the games were so close says to me that they are not terrible (as in never getting blown out). However, those 1 or 2 plays in any of the phase of the game that was there last year are clearly missing and making the Ravens a Bad/Below average team.
Agree with some of your post, however, last year Jacoby Jones really didn't have "splash". He made very questionable if not stupid decisions on bringing the ball out on kick offs and miss handling punts. That is why he is still not here.
Also, without a speedy receiver to take the top off the defense, the opposing defense knows exactly what we want to do and our receivers have a knack of not getting open quickly or even at all.
Like Mom Gene said, this years team requires patience. It will get better, the question is when.
Patience and development will help this team... There is no immediate solution for instant gratifications.
I agree Mom Gene. Aso, why is everyone looking for someone to blame? I thought this was a Team game??
We as an organization are well known for "collecting" draft picks. We usually will not trade to get a player if it cost us a draft pick and I am not just talking about aged veterans, I'm talking about in the draft itself or a player that might have been accused of something etc. The point here is with all the draft picks we accumulate including compensatory picks, we really do not have a lot to show for it. Holding on to 4th, 5th round or even later picks means nothing if the pick is a miss. Looking back over the previous 6 or 7 drafts, alot of those guys we picked aren't even in the league anymore. With players leaving because of free agency all the time thoise picks have to work out and we must find a better way to keep depth at major positions.
We all saw what happened when Smith played press coverage against Amari Cooper (then again with AJ Green). The secondary HAS to play 10 yards off the receivers otherwise, they get beat deep every time. Coaching won't change the fact that Arrington, Daryl Smith & Kendrick Lewis are HORRIBLE in coverage. But yet, you want them to play man to man, press coverage. If that happens, these games aren't even close.
Have to disagree with you on this one. They should not be playing off receivers 10yds on 3rd down and 3 or 4. Watch the film and they do it all the time. Even if it was 3rd and long, they need to be good enough to line up against these receivers and hit them to disrupt the route. All they are doing now is lining up 10yds off and taking off as if every play is real deep. That's why other teams are completing whatever they want across the middle and quick down & outs. I don't know if it is the players or schemes that is the problem but which ever it is, it needs to get fixed.
Shake up coming?it should be, unless the team thinks that if the shake things up then it looks like they have given up on the season. At this point some changes are a must and it would seem to fall mostly on the Defensive side of the ball. Our offence is scoring enough points to win , but our defense is just terrible. I'm not sure if it is Pees, schemes or players. Something has really got to change. If Harbaugh had the guts to fire Cam Cameron late in the season right before playoffs, I wonder what is keeping him from making any moves now?

There are no easy games or definite wins or losses in the AFC North. Toughest division in football for a long time now.
People are saying that Yanda might leave just like Ngata. The difference is Ngata was "one" of the best where Yanda is "The" best. All backed up by performance stats. Teams just do not let "The Best" leave.IMO
so basically they are saying jernigan is another cody. if that happens than ozzie has dropped the ball lately in these drafts
If you say Ozzie dropped the ball, Hoe do you explain Carl Davis? Obviously Ozzie didn't drop the ball in getting depth.
hahahaha any other names BR.com would like to throw out there? Speculation and BS
Why put it on BR.com? Read the article, the information came from LaCanfore and Schefter. They just shared that information . Geez.
For what I have read and heard, Tate not a very good teammate. There is a reason that he left Seattle.IDK
last year it was Corners, this year it is WR......let's hope this ends here. I remember when injuries happened, but much rarer than todays game. I wonder what is the biggest factor, bigger stronger players? Rule changes? or something else? I think if injuries are going to stay at a much higher level then the league should expand the rosters from 53 to 60-65 to allow a greater rotation of personnel, and hopefully fresher players equals less injuries. Or somehow better equipment research to provide better gear. GO RAVENS!
I did read that expanding the roster is a go for 2016 season. They just haven't worked it out yet. Mcjacket would know better than I tho.
Did you see Ngata play last night? He got very little penetration, Wilson ran out the right side and when Ngata went to chase him it didn't even look like the Ngata we are used to seeing. He looked like he was 80. He had one tackle. I think Ozzie made a very wise move and since I have GamePass and can watch the games, the games I have seen Ngata play in, he doesn't look like anything close to the beast he was in Baltimore. I love Ngata and what he did for us, but looks like he was into the RF chicken a little too much here recently.
Every player that leaves us looks like that! lol. Different schemes, coaches, and chemistry. There is no place like B-more. We play like Ravens.
It really does hinge on Monroe, who no doubt must up his game. He needs to show us more than we have seen.
With Suggs slowly but surely going out of the NFL (though hopefully not yet in a while), Brandon Williams is my best candidate to become that "vocal leader" of the D they need so badly. All the other options seem to be of the rather low-key kind (my favourite, BTW...): Daryl Smith, Mosley, Dumervil, Jernigan, Webb... I hope Williams will be on the "keep at any price" list once he hits free agency... It takes quite some talent and performance to make us forget about Ngata.
But one thing's for sure: with Ray Lewis, Reed and Ngata out and Suggs on the back end of his run, we'll need a new Commander - and possibly a younger one. Canty and Daryl Smith aren't gonna stay forever.
Agreed 100 %. Haven't heard it as a reason or excuse yet but as good as the young ones are on our front 7, we do miss Ngata. Teams do not fear running against us without Suggs or Ngata, but in a very short time, they will realize that we have one of the best D-lines for years (Hopefully) to come.
I really do not see Pitta coming back in week 6. Realistically, he may not be back at all. He may want to and the team may want him to, but the Doc's have the last say.
Vincent Jackson.
No how No way to afford him.
Unfortunately, WR corps needs an overhaul. If we're going to trade for another WR, I hope they go after a proven, explosive game-changer who will become the #1 WR after SSS retires. Gives Perriman time to develop as second fiddle. I know it's against the Oz's way of thinking for the most part but with mid-round picks stocked it's time to make that move that will last for 3-5 years at that position. I don't think they will do it. Aiken and Brown: average but just don't see them developing into game changers - no speed or explosiveness at all in their game. We haven't seen it since they arrived and therefore, it doesn't exit. Go RAVENS!
You gotta know that Ozzie has been on the phone for days. Problem is that there are no "proven-explosive game changers" out there that are available and that is probably not going to change until the off season.
Quite honestly a trade will probably be a must. The receivers that we currently have available just take way too long to get open, if they get open at all. Sad but true. Nobody doubts the fact that they can catch, although Marlon Brown does drop a lot of easy catches. the knock on them which if you watch, they just don't get open.
Great Win we still have a life left in the season! I know Ozzie does not read any of the these, but Please Ozzie go out and make the trade with Bears and get Alshon Jeffrey from the Bears. I don't care if you have to give up a first round pick to do it. Get Joe another weapon!
I read that Chicago is not going to get rid of Jeffrey. They are supposed to keep him as a building block. Forte on the other hand is another story. Looks like they are cleaning house, and they get Oakland this week.
On the Bell run its hard to believe that there was not a flag thrown. The offense actually tackled the defensive guy. All the yellow that has been thrown so far and they miss that. SMH
Be careful for what you ask for. I remember I was saying the same thing about #38 Melvin towards the end of the year last year. He hasn't been the same since he gave up the gaming winning TD to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. BUT Davis did make a couple of nice plays and I'm still asking the question "Where did he come from all of a sudden?".
Davis came from Miami. He was out because he had surgery on I think his ACL or MCL.
Let's face it, Harbaugh's attitude is very understandable. He doesn't comment because he is pissed. He is tired of hearing about a guy who has not even stepped on the field yet. He only hears what he is told and realistically he owes us nothing. He is too busy trying to plan for the players that are actually playing, rather than worry about a guy that he has no idea when he is actually going to play. He is just mad and understandably so.
We've lost 3 in a row. Have we lost 3 in a row in a season before? Probably more than once, but one notable time: in our Super Bowl season.
So - is this different just because it came at the beginning of the season? Not really. The difference comes in that we saw at points earlier in that Super Bowl season that we were good enough to win. Watching this team as they are playing now, it is hard to envision that. Also, that losing streak didn't include any team that looked like the Raiders. To see what the defense is allowing to happen is making it really, really hard to imagine a bounce back of the kind required to get us back into this.
But I'm not giving up on them. That doesn't matter, though, if they all decide to give up on themselves. That is what remains to be seen.
I agree with you. We can believe in our team all day long and say that we can still make the playoffs, many of us do think this. However, if the players themselves don't believe and they are unable to shake these losses, it's not going to matter what we think or say.
GO RAVENS!

It goes back to last year and even pre-season this year. Harbaugh even said in interview "I wish just once we could make a stop inside 2 minutes". We have been horrible in that situation.
