  1. I find it so hard to believe the coaches have not tried Brown at several positions during drills & practice these past 2 yrs. I can only conclude he's not talented enough and thus the reason he doesn't dress on game day. All-in-all a sad situation for a player we used 3 draft picks on.
  2. Too early to tell, but I have a feeling.
  3. I think #20 along with #52 are unavailable to future players.
  4. ICYMI, Peter King wrote an article on How to Win Free Agency and cited the Ravens and Ozzie Newsome as how it's done. You can read the article here
  5. Matt, and the rest of the NFL, will know his fate come Sept/Oct; either he will be playing or sitting on the bench. I don't have faith in him improving but I'll let his play dictate his boom or bust status.
  6. I have to disagree with those 2 statements. If one was to look back over the division winners the past 6 yrs (or more), the 2 division titles didn't exactly have the FO & team reigning supreme over Pittsburgh or Cincinnati. So the question is, can we keep pace with our division rivals in the off-season and on the field? AND Big Ben's new contract will be far more affordable to Pittsburgh next year that Joe's is to Baltimore. We will definitely be cap-strapped again next year with the players we have hitting FA & the money we'll need to spend to keep them; Flacco not included.
  7. It is exciting to see all the players moving around the league and teams "improving" while other teams like the Packers, Steelers, & Ravens to name just a few sit on their hands as the big money flows. Eagle fans I'm sure are having mixed emotions with all the moves Chip Kelley has made. Ozzie will come out of his man-cave with his lap top in hand and begin signing value in a week or 3. Roughly 7 weeks until the draft so he has time.
  8. We could use a RB, a TE, a WR, an edge rusher, a CB, and a safety. Other than them....we're golden but I may have neglected a position or 2.
  9. WOW, Browns updated logo sure has me pumped and excited about the change. (he says facetiously) Paul Brown really struck out with the Bengals and Browns color schemes. They are god-awful.
  10. We've beat this horse for so long I'm surprised PETA hasn't filed an injunction against us.
  11. Ravens address the backup QB position every year. For the past 4 yrs TT has been the answer b/c Tom Brady was not available. What else could Ozzie do?
  12. You can go here for all the Raven players contract info. Brian McFarland does a fantastic job with his spreadsheets.
  13. I was thinking this guy name peyton manning may be coming available soon and we could get him for the veteran minimum.
  14. Buffalo was a 6-10 team 3 years running. This year they make the leap to 9-7. Admittedly Belichick and Brady will retire eventually, but Buffalo at 9-7 and no true franchise QB have lots of problems. Rex is a Raven alum so I wish him success with the Bills and we'll see them in 2016.
  15. Rex Ryan going to Buffalo with EJ Manuel/Mark Sanchez (maybe) as his QB. smh Didn't he just leave a Geno Smith/Mike Vick circus? Not that I'm criticizing but Rex must be hoping to be named Patron Saint of Hopeless Causes. Atlanta or San Fran, if they offered, had to be better options. Will the Bills follow the same 5-yr downdraft Rex guided the Jets to? We don't play the Bills until the 2016 season; we'll see then. Still smh, perhaps Rex had no better offer.
  16. You're missing the point. The important thing is he played 10 snaps without getting hurt. That's the kind of CB we need.
  17. Steve B. has voiced support for the London series so the Ravens will be going eventually.
  18. OMG, the game is over, we lost, it's not a perfect world, don't make excuses, get over it, move on.
  19. The guy has good size & speed. NFL draft reports his weakness: "was not a full-time starter. Marginal eyes and anticipation. Does not play to his size in the run game -- catches and stays blocked too long. Selective hitter. Marginal ball skills. Allows too much separation at the break point. Only one career interception. Does not sell out on the blitz." And Bottom Line: A big, press-and-bail corner with a cautious approach to the game and very limited ball production. We shall see.
  20. You can't buy the Lombardi, you have to build to it. Torrey is a solid building block in the Raven offense. He's never going to be "elite" (which is why I was hoping for OBJ) but he'll be worth the money we pay him in his next contract & he wants to be a Raven. We won't get stuck with any outlandish Torrey contract b/c there won't be any, just a valuable Raven.
  21. I did a quick google of udfa contracts but didn't get anything near what you just said. Thanks for the info and signing off on this topic. Have a good one.
  22. Thanks for the ref. Interesting; I'm just saying that come Aug. when most of these UDFAs get cut, the Ravens contractual obligation ends there, it doesn't continue for 3 yrs. So it really costs the organization only the $80k to bring these guys onboard for tryouts.
  23. Sorry, but that makes no sense to give 37 guys that won't make the team a long-term contract. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/05/teams-have-80362-for-udfa-signing-bonuses/
  24. By a 3 year deal, I'm pretty sure you meant a 3 month deal. These UDFAs make next to nothing until they actually make the team.
  25. The current CBA really restricts on field time. It's like all these football players are 20 hr a week part-time workers; very difficult for coaches to evaluate them against other nfl quality talent. The cba doesn't help the hopefuls but protects the vets.
