  1. So.... the Ray Rice case was dismissed? He is still without a team more then a year later for something he was never even convicted of? SMH! obviously did what he did but there are many players in the NFL with worse infractions who have done worse and they didn't serve the same type of penalty! If Tom Brady has a defamation of character lawsuit against the NFL over deflategate.... what will Ray Rice have?

  2. YANDA 79?????? Isnt Yanda like a 5x pro bowler? Is the 78 players in the league that have accomplished more then that? WHen you are voted on as the best at your position 5 x and still are as dominant as Yanda is.... I think 79 is a little bit of a joke! I will almost put money on it that there will be several 1st and 2nd year players that we be voted ahead of YANDA.... One good year doesn't make you one of the best players in the NFL.... it is consistency... doing it year in and year out and that is YANDA and I don't believe that there are too many people in the league doing that better then he is!

  3. Ummmm..... I know that this is the down part of the year but this is a little sensationalizing. We stopped the run just fine last season in the four games that NGATA missed and that was without Carl Davis, KLM, Urban, and Canty. Now we will have those guys in the mix, Timmy will be a year acclimated, BWIlliams will be a season more developed, as will CJ and we will have improved safety support! We stopped the run more then adequately without NGATA for a quarter of the season last year... This year we have so many more weapons at our disposal, I cannot imagine us not being one of the top run defense teams in the NFL this season! If Pees cannot stop the run with that defense, then he is doing something wrong! My prediction is that we will be better at stopping the run this year -then we were last season!

  4. mcjacket23.... While I agree that cap space determines everything in the NFL.... I think that also supports why we keep UPSHAW... KO, YANDA and TUCKER will all be bigger priorities moving forward but they will come at a much bigger cost as a result. And while we have cut some players who did not command big money in the past we have probable cut as many or more big names not willing to work to get under the cap. NGATA, TORREY, BOLDIN,KRUGER, Art Jones, Todd Heap, Ed Reed, Kelly Greg, Derrik Mason, etc. We are a stop the run defense and Upshaw is that guy! When we can find that guy and he comes cheaply... I would find it hard to believe that we would let him go. Meanwhile Yanda, KO are bigger priorities and we may not be able to keep them both.... I think that is why we have Urschel and drafted a G this year! Very similar to how we knew we may lose NGATA and snatched up Timmy Jernigan just in case we couldn't get that big contract under control. You are right in that there are still a lot of moving parts there....injuries, player development, likelihood that we will work out one or several of those contracts before the offseason... but in baltimores system... bigger priority doesn't mean that you will be more likely to be signed (as we have seen year in and year out) it means that if you don't work with us... (Like Webb) you may be packing your bags.... Upshaw has little reason not to work with the Ravens and the Ravens would probably have little reason to not work with Upshaw... I would be very surprised if Courtney is not back after this season!

  5. why let Upshaw go.... he is not going to command big money on the open market... we could re-sign him for cheap and we would have Upshaw and ZSmith waiting in the wings... Dumerville and SUggs aren't getting any younger that's for sure! We could have both of their replacements in house... and it would be similar to having JJ (the run stopper) in Upshaw and Suggs the pass rusher in (ZSmith).... Upshaw is excellent against the run... he is a nasty physical presence which is what we want in our division and he is getting better.... yet under the radar enough that teams wont over pay him like (Art Jones and others that have left us)!

  6. Still like the product that we are putting on the field but I do recognize potential areas that could present a problem. However... I have to give Ozzie credit.... in all of those areas we really only need one or two guys to step up.

    1. RB... if Frosett don't... we have LT and Buck

    2. TE... if Pitta cannot... we have Maxx, Gilmore and Boyle that may

    3. WR...If Steve Smith or Perriman falter... we have Marlon, Kamar, Camp, etc

    4. DL... if Timmy or Canty struggle... we have Davis and Urban, KLM, etc

In all of these areas it appears as if our FO has prepared us for the success regardless of is it comes from the expected sources or not. I really like our roster right now...

  7. Davinater213.... I agree with you I also think that this team is very very talented! but I do think there are a couple of areas that could potentially be a weakness:

1> WR.... if Perriman is not what he is supposed to be or if SSS ages over night... that could really hurt us.

    2. DL (interior)... I believe that we will not feel the loss of NGATA bc Timmy looks like the real deal and I love our draft pick in Davis... but Timmy was injured in limited time last season and will need to stay healthy... while I think Davis will prove to be a steal... that has to be seen. KLM and URBAN need to stay healthy, as does Canty (all of which were not able to last season).

    3. DB's... and while I think we will be much better then last year... both Jimmy and Webby have been injury prone throughout their respective careers, Asa looked not so good in spots and Arrington should be an upgrade but didn't play much last year. Will Hill has to continue to regain form and Kendrik Lewis will need to adjust... while Elam needs to improve and Brooks needs to heal...so still a lot of question marks in our DBackfield.

    4. TE... Is Pitta healthy? Can Maxx Williams be what we expect? What about Boyle or even Gilmore?

I have every reason to believe that we have enough depth that at most positions it will work out but an injury here or there could still be very damaging... especially in our WR corps and on our DL (interior)....

I love the potential but I realize that there are still potential holes and I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie is still working on some of these positions!

  8. THe entire Patriots thing is a farce. I say that for several reasons:

    1. Deflated balls did not give the Pats an unfair advantage in that Colts game. They were up 14-7 at the half. The balls were found to be under inflated and corrected at half time. The entire 2nd half was played with regulation footballs and the Pats thumped the Colts in the 2nd half.... with a final score of 40someting to 7! The colts should have been asking for the balls to be deflated from the looks of things

    2. If the NFL thought that they were wrong.... why did they wait so long to announce the punishment! They say that 90% of the investigation was complete before the superbowl. Yet they wouldn't dare hand out suspensions before the big game and hurt ratings. The bottom line with the NFL under Goddells helm has been money. They were not worried about the integrity of the game of they would have dished out suspensions and punishments long ago. No Goddell is worried about $ and $ only.

Now we as fans are supposed to set back and jump on board and say... yes the NFL got it right? I don't think so... they made a mockery of the entire thing.... like the did with RAY RICE... suspending him for 2 games and then indefinitely, like they have done with the entire DV issue (Ray Macdonald, Hardy and James Harrison all playing but Ray not)! Like the have done with the Josh Gordon fiasco and their inconsistencies throughout. The only thing that motivate Goddell is money and suspending Brady for the first four games (which will probably be appealed and dropped to two) at the beginning of the season is a slap on the wrist compared to if it would have started with the super bowl!

I think the entire thing is a joke and mishandled throughout! Typical Roger Goddell screw up...no wonder the NFL has such serious legal issues and problems... they aren't really chasing ethics.... under goddell they are only chasing economics! That is why ETHICS are so arbitrary in today's NFL!

  9. I would love to see the ravens sign Kyle Arrington. The Pats have a plethora of solid DB's and even losing Reevis, they feel confident that they don't have to over pay CB's bc of what they have behind them. We can get him at a fair market value and we don't need him to be a # 1 or a # 2.... He is a very good # 3 CB and adds very solid depth if either Webb or Jimmy were to miss anytime! I love the idea of signing Arrington.... lets make it happen

  10. Ummmm.... Marshall and Jeffery plus Forte they put up great numbers but the result is not what we wanted.... I am less worried about numbers and more concerned about their contributions to us winning games. If they are doing that the numbers will take care of themselves... if this is all about producing numbers... we will miss the playoffs like the bears did ! We have a ton of weapons and only one ball.... maybe they don't all have 100 yard rec games but they had a key first down on the game winning drive or they had a key block to spring forsett for the game winning TD... that is the mentality we need here!

  11. I can honestly say that we are one of the few teams that are at least 2 deep at every position. There are 3 spots that I would like to see bolstered before the season starts.... when I look at our roster across the board there are only a few injuries that scare me... they are:

    1. WR (if either Steve Smith Sr or Perriman were to miss any time it would scare me)

    2. (If Maxx Williams were to get injured)

    3. (If Jimmy or Webb were to get injured).

So with that being said WR, TE and CB are still our biggest question marks. I think we COULD have people to step up in even those three positions but these 3 have the largest question marks behind the main players! Would love to see us add at least another veteran CB and another veteran WR between now and opening day!

  12. I believe that we found 4-5 future starters in this draft. I think that Perriman and Williams for the one /two but I also think that Davis will end up being a starter for us down the road (with a healthy rotation this season). That makes three. Finally I also think that Robert Meyers could end up being a starter.... (hope he doesn't have to be but realistically) can be the 4th down the road. Finally (I think Z SMith is possible if he continues to develop under Suggs, Elvis and Upshaw? Very possible..... I will also add that UDFA -S- Nick Perry and Trey Depriest OLB- have a great shot at making this team! along with CB-Julian Thomas out of Oklahomma!

  13. WIlfork ask to be released from the PATs... Coming off of an injury and his age should drive his cost down.... No sure if it would be low enough to make him worth pursuing but could you imagine a DL that has Haloti and Wilfork pushing the middle while Suggs and Dummerville rush from the outside. WOW... it would be fun to watch for a year or two!

  14. JO14.... agreed... I know it is early.... and I am super excited to have locked up Suggs, Pitta and Monroe... I do think that are some of the key ingredients to getting back to the super bowl. It hurts to lost Art Jones, Corey and Ihedigbo. I am 100% confident that we will replace them and that Ozzie and Company have a plan in place to do so. I am simply stating that we do have some holes and Oz and co do have some work to do. I cannot wait to see how he goes about this! the route that he takes now... may say alot about the direction we go in the draft!
