20. B Prerriman.
19. Will Hill (he has the talent and ability to be much higher)
18. Dennis Pitta (if not injured would be much higher)
17. EMonroe (hoping he grows into top ten but not yet)
16. JZuttah (Zuttah really solidified a very weak spot for us)
15. CUpshaw (he splits time or would be much higher)
14. LWebb..(Webb has top 10 potential when healthy)
13. JForsett...(journeyman turned star/// lets see if he can repeat)
12. Timmy Jernigan (with Ngata in Det...Timmy can be the next def star for ravens)
11. BWIlliams (one of the most under rated run stoppers in the NFL)
10. RWagner...(one of the top RTs in the league)
9. SSS.... (he faded a little down the stretch but still a difference maker)
8. Jimmy Smith(one of the top CBs in league has to stay healthy)
7. KO.. (becoming one of the top Gs in the NFL)
6. Suggs...(still the face of the team)
5. Dumervil (He is a dominant force-under rated)
4. DSmith (most under rated player in the league)
3. CJ & Tucker (TIE) Tucker top 3 Kickers in NFL / CJ showed ability to be the top MLB in the league
2. Yanda...(Best G in the league and sets the tone on offense)
1. Joe Flacco (the one player we cannot lose)
This is where I was saying that a veteran signing would have made a little more sense. Reggie Wayne.... say ... if some of the younger guys are going to loss some reps why not to a proven guy like Reggie Wayne? Nelson is not only an unproven player but an unproven WR. Bringing in a veteran like Wayne is not guaranteeing that he will make the roster but raising the level of competition in camp for sure. Only difference is that Wayne will not contribute on ST where that would need to be NElsons niche. IDK... I think an old crafty veteran like Wayne would have brought more to camp then say Nelson but non the less... I hope Nelson proves me wrong! GOod luck guy.. here is your chance!
QB- FLacco, Schaub
RB- Forsett, LT, Buck
FB- Juice
WR- SSS, Perriman, Marlon, Kamar, Camp, Waller
TE- Gilmore-Maxx-Boyle
T- Wagner-Monroe-Hurst
G- Yanda-KO-Urschel-Myers
C- Zuttah- Jensen
DL- Williams, Timmy- Davis- Canty- Urban-KLM-Guy-Tyson
OLB-Suggs-Dumerville- Upshaw-Zsmith
ILB-CJ, Daryl, ABrown, Zorr
CB - Jimmy-Webb-Arrington-Vaughn-Walker- Melvn-ASA
SS- Hill-Elam
FS- Lewis
ST- Tucker, Koch-Cox
PS Fitz- DCarter- NPerry- JButler- Dondre Welsley- Jacobs-ALdrick Robinson
(I think that Waller beats out Butler... butler has the ability just has not found consistency and Waller has a higher ceiling. I think that with Elam playing better and having the ability to play at both FS and SS we carry one less S (especially knowing that Brooks will be coming off of the PUP list in week 7). The biggest question mark for me is does DTyson progress enough to keep him... he showed a lot of progress last year,.,,, when Pitta and Brooks are ready to return I think we see a DL and or Jensen step down to clear the roster space! Jensen could be a PS player with Urschel showing the ability to play Center also but that depends on how fast Robert Myers develops! DOndre Welsley could be a wild card.... he has the ability to be that UFA guy this year!
10 new players who could really impact 2015: 10. KLM... two years of preparation (if he can stay healthy that is like adding a very high draft pick with NFL exp). KLM could be very exciting. 9. Urban... his size and range can give him a chance to make some plays for us! 8. ZDarius Smith... love his potential and with Suggs and Dum mentoring you... it will be hard for him not to make some plays. 7. NIck Boyle... with Pitta on the PUP list... he will have a chance to make his mark. 6 Kyle Arrington... he can bring a veteran presence with big game experience to a position that desperately needed that last year. 5. Maxx... Has the chance to make some big plays as he will be targeted early and often 4. Kendrick Lewis... Should solidify a position that we struggled at last year / which in turn will even make our pass rush better! 3. Carl Davis... Davis will become more and more of a factor as this season wears on. I think Davis will really impact the interior defense and help to add a physical presence in Ngatas absence. 2. Perriman... will add speed and size... tough combo at any level. He will have many opportunities and his skill set really compliments JOES 1. Marc Trestman... We cannot underestimate the impact trestman can have on this offense. Trestman has an offense similar to Kubiacks but more aggressive and I think this will help to not only produce bigger plays but to improve Joes consistency. There are 10 virtual newcomers (9 1 coach) to a 53 man roster... that went pretty deep last season. With the addition of this type of talent... we really should expect another deep run into the postseason (and if these guys mature fast a possible superbowl is not out of the question)!
Rookies played a very large role last year...
CJ... making the probowl, Jernigan becoming a factor, Brooks playing more and more until his injury, Urschel giving us some key PT and stepping up admirably, Crocket seeing more PT as the season went on, LT showing a great deal of potential and contributing in the offense, Camp had some moments and Hurst really stepped up and surprised. Urban.... had his season cut short... this year... I do not believe that rookies (across the board) will have the same opportunities but the top several could really impact this season. Perriman... has the opportunity to do on the offensive side what CJ did on the defensive side last year. Maxx... will have his opportunities to perform but rather then big numbers in a crowded position... I am hoping he gives us a ton of big plays... key first downs / TD grabs /ETc. Carl Davis... will contribute early and often. Tray Walker is in a now crowded DBackfield and hoping he contributes more a year or two from now. ZSmith... will have opportunites like PMcPhee did but with Suggs,Dum and Upshaw at the same position... he will have to make the most of his. RMyers.... is not going to get to see much action (barring injury) with Yanda,KO anad Urschel all in front of him... his opportunity will also be limited. Buck Allen.. will have some opportunities as well but again he will need to make the most of his bc with Forset and LT setting in front of him... he may not see much... Nick Boyle may be the surprise pick! He will get his chance bc Pitta will start the season on the PUP list. Waller will also have to battle it out in a very crowded position... He brings a different dimension to our offense so he will be interesting. Leon Brown, DeAndre Carter, Nick Perry and DeOndre Wesley all round out a very strong rookie class but a class with less opportunity then 2014... (still have very high expectations even beyond spots 1-2-3)
THe real questions is.... at the end of the season... who will have paid more per yard! THe Ravens or the Vikings... I am guessing we win that one in a landslide! Great Job Ozzie!
We don't need Forsett to carry the load like the Vikings would need from Peterson. IF JF can be solid again... we have so many weapons and can be so balanced this year that we will give defenses fits... THe Vikings need Peterson to be 70-80 % of the offense... glad we are not in that position!
IF SMith can develop into a legit pass rusher... we could be scary . Our LB's corps is set for years.... with CJ and ABrown waiting his turn... Upshaw setting an edge and Smith .... Jernigan upfront with KLM /Urban... BWilliams stuffing the middle and pushing the pocket! OUr front 7 is deep and talented.... Now (Suggs and Dum) and in the future! But Smith needs to show that he can be that guy!
1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Peyton Manning
4. Drew Brees
This is tier 1 (Most of that top 4 can be interchangeable but all four can carry their teams to victory week in and week out) All four are their offense
Tier 2
5. Andrew Luck (he may be ready to step up to tier 1)
6 Ben Rothlisberger
7. Russell Wilson
8. Phillip Rivers
9. Joe Flacco
(All can win games for you but all have the potential to lose a game for their team as well). (Andrew Luck may be ready to take the step up into tier 1)?
Tier 3.
10. Matt Ryan
10t Eli Manning
11. Tony Romo
12. Cam Newton
13. Jay Cutler
14. Alex SMith
15. Matt Stafford
Tier 3 (they can all win and lead / have all the tools but haven't found the consistency that the top guys have)
15T Ryan Tannehill (curious to see how he performs this year with some weapons)
16. Teddy Bridgewater (maybe too early to say)
17. Sam Bradford
18. Nic Folwles
19. Colin Kapernick (with all of his ability and weapons more is expected)
20. RG3
21. Andy Dalton (same as Kapernick)
These guys have had weapons and can make plays but seem to not be able to stay healthy or not be able to limit mistakes enough to win and win consistently. Everyone from 15-21 has some job security but a bad season could leave most of them in doubt)
Final Tier (either too early to say or too inconsistent due to injuries etc)
22. Carr
23. Blake Bortles
24. Marcus Mariotta
25. Jamis WInston
26. Ryan Mallet
27. Johnny Manziel
28. EJ Manuel
Just too early to tell on these guys but they are on the clock! Some will have more opportunity then others but all are big investments and expectations are high / they need to perform.
I think that Campanaro is the leader for ST duties (but he has to stay healthy) Fitz has shown some promise and I like the though of him back there for two reasons 1. He has the ability to make people miss 2. It could give us a chance to keep him on the team. He is talented enough that we could lose him to a competitor but with Forsett, LT and Buck in front on him... not sure how much regular action he will see. I think keeping him around for another year allows him to develop and we can see what his true potential is! Don't like the idea of ASA in the return game!
I think that the WR's shake out as such. 1. SSS 2. BPerriman 3. Marlon 4. Kamar 5. Camp 6. Dandre Carter (I think Camp makes the teams for his ST contributions). I think Carter's athleticism and play making ability moves him into that final WR spot. I think Waller is placed on the PS and we look to develop him for next season or if there is an injury. (Butler, Worthy, and Robinson end up gone) I do think there is a chance we bring in a veteran (not named reggie wayne) if we don't like the ST situation or if we don't like the way Marlon/Kamar/ etc perform... but that will be a camp time addition! Probably after the 1st round of cuts! It will be a heated battle at WR again this year but I think the stakes are a little higher as many of them are not rookies anymore!
bringing in a Reggie does not guarantee that he make the team... We don't need to have the roster down to 53 by the start of camp! We bring him in and evaluate wether or not some of these new guys are ready to surpass what Reggie (or others could bring to the table). If they are great... you let Reggie go before season starts and if not... we know that these unproven players are not ready to take that next step! When you can get a veteran with the ability of a Reggie Wayne for dirt cheap... it is worth considering- If for nothing else but to help bring some young guys along! Finally as far as taking reps from the young guys.... I don't believe that is true. We know what SSS brings to the table and with his age we want to limit his reps in camp anyways. We are looking at 1. BPerriman 2. Kamar 3. Marlon 4. Camp 5. Butler 6. Waller legit WR's I know there are a few others but last year (DeAndre Carter, Aldrick Robinson, and Cam WOrthy) That is 13 WR's in camp that is about average around the league! Lets be honest... I think that Kamar and Marlon have the potential to take the next step... Camp will make his mark on ST and Waller / Carter / Worthy and Robinson... all are pretty unproven... I am not saying that cant do the job but I want them to earn it! Beating out a veteran like Reggie Wayne will legitimize anything that Marlon, Kamar or the others accomplish! This will go a long way to building confidence in them (From JOE)and the rest of the team. If they cannot beat out a 37 year old hobbled WR then I would like to know during camp... not in season when we need to be able to count on them!
Wouldn't mind having an additional veteran at WR. SSS is 36 and an injury to him could seriously impact our offensive production. Perriman is a rookie... and it may take him some time to get fully up to speed. (also an injury there would really hurt us). Marlon and Kamar (even Camp) show a great deal of potential but nothing proven (yet)! Waller is more of a project and while we hope he becomes a big red zone threat... an injury to any of our top two guys would be very concerning. IDK if Reggie Wayne is the answer or not (at 37 and banged up) but it would be nice to have a little insurance there (IDK who is on the market... Ace Sanders, Santonio Holmes and Wes Welker don't excite me at this stage of their careers and are probably not as solid as what we have)... So no need to jump but it the right vet becomes available... would be nice insurance policy!
One last one that has to be feeling pressure is new OC Trestman! It will be difficult to re-produce the success that Kubiack had and yet that is the standard that he will be compared to... (maybe even worse bc Kubiack is now in Denver with a very offensive minded team)! So how far do the comparisons go? I think that there will be a ton of pressure on Trestman! Mediocracy is no longer acceptable in BMORE! (not with the talent that we have)
I also think Forsett has to be feeling some pressure... Can he match what he did last year... under a new OC and with two young and hungry backs behind him in LT and Buck? The conditions for him to succeed are there (one of the best OL's in the NFL) but it will be very difficult for him to re-produce what he did last season... and that could make him look like a one hit wonder! He has to be feeling the pressure as well!
I agree that ASA, CAMP, Elam, and Monroe are facing some pressure but I don't think 2 of the 4 are going anywhere (Elam and Monroe) even if they under perform... so pressure is somewhat negated! There are several that I think have to be feeling real pressure (of possibly being cut). 1. Jah Reid (not sure how he has not been cut yet) 2. DeAngelo Tyson...he is a solid player but we are deep in the interior... what may help him is his versatility)... 3. Aurthur Brown... if he cant get on the field... he remains a threat to be let go... I think he may have the most pressure on him bc expectations were very high for him (along with Elam). 4. KLM... (he needs to stay healthy this year or he will be gone). 5. AMcClellan...not sure what his nitch is at this point and with ZOrr playing well and contributing on ST... I think McClellan is on the bottom of the depth charts inside or outside???? 6. I do think that Monroe will feel pressure to perform but if he does not -he will not be cut so his pressure is only on a reaching his potential situation... 7. Urban (like KLM's situation) he needs to perform and that means staying healthy 8. They didn't mention Kendrick Lewis... but he is coming in as the man for the job but he has to feel that heat of two young and talented S behind him (Elam and Brooks- who the Ravens want to succeed). 9. Timmy Jernigan and BWilliams... again zero chance of getting cut but all eyes will be on them to see how they replace Ngata.... 10. Kamar and Marlon. (I think that those two will be in an intense battle for that # 3 WR spot.... the loser means lost reps and lost chances meaning less PT and less $$$$$ down the road. (Waller will add to this competition) but these two are in maybe the most intense battle of camp!
Any time we beat the sqeelers is great but beating them in the post season... it doesn't get much better then that (you have to win a super bowl to beat that)
risenconquer... take that $16million is over 4 years. That is 4 million a year minus his 55% for taxes or 2.2 a year. Minus his agents 4-5% and we are talking 1.8 per. I read that he walked away from in the ball park of $1 million in endorsements in BMORE.... that means he still left for around 8ooK per year.... still significant -I agree and over 4 years that is 3.2million (but that is if he plays out his contract). This year his base pay is the same! He is 31... do you think he will be worth the same at 35? I think there is a good chance that Haloti is released bf he can see all 3.2 of that difference!
Truth is.... Kapernick seems to be a choker.... He (they) may put up big numbers but they wont win when it counts... I would rather have Joe-Perriman-etc. and maybe not have the fantasy football numbers but be willing to sacrifice that stuff for winning! Plus.... I do think without the other Harbs and the way they ran him out ... they could be setting on a collapse this year (even with all the talent they have)!
I really do think with the sqeelers.... it is about stopping the run first and then getting pressure on Bigjen. If we stop the run HasBen will make a mistake (as he always does) and give us the game...he is too much of a glory hound at this point to beat us consistently.... Ben wants the glory and therefore makes mistakes by forcing bad plays -trying to be the hero... Make them one dimensional and then put pressure on him. His goal to get on ESPN will eventually cost them the game again vs us!
The thing is.... we don't need Perriman to put up Calvin Johnson like numbers.... we have one of the best running games in the NFL.... a very good TE corps, another leading WR in SSS and a lot of solid role playing WR's who will contribute...plus RB's who will be a factor out of the backfield. If Perriman gives us a deep threat we are balanced enough to exploit defenses in many ways.... if we get 700 yards and 7 or 8 TD's out of him... he will be more valuable to us then Torrey will be to SF (if he produces 1000 yds and 8-9 TDs). In other words... they need Torrey to light it up... we need Perriman to be solid! (I like our situation better).
The one I am most wanting to see - is how RMyers develops and if he can show some promise. We may lose one of our guards (hope not) and if we do... we will need RMyers to step up. Urschel can step in rightaway it is looking like but Urschel has been great insurance as a backup and proved capable to step in and play... we will need Rmyers (or someone) to ensure depth. Hopefully Myers can be that guy... camp will be very interesting this year at several positions!
Yea maybe.... but Ngata still left for what amounts to not much (after taxes, and agents fees) and that says a lot about where his heart was (or wasn't). Not surprised either way... Hope the best for him but really excited to see how Bwilliams and TJernigan step it up and replace him!
With that OL in Pittsburgh.... I will be surprised if Ben finishes the season this year. I know that they have a ton of weapons and they do.... and the have changed the offense under Todd Haley to try to protect Ben by getting the ball out of his hands quickly but that OL is subpar at best.... and in our division not being protected could be disastorous -especially this year. Our front 7 may be the best in the league. The Browns actually have a very talented young front 7 who play with an attitude. The Bengals.... have an all star cast In their front 7. IDK... just saying... the sqeelers have made big investments in the weapons but nothing in the way of protecting ben.... I see ben lighting it up in some games and getting lit up in a lot more! Long season for meatheadburger!

Will Suggs final few years impact his legacy. Ray Lewis's did.... so Suggs is right... it depends on what we do with them. IF Suggs final few look anything like what Rays did... I know how it will impact Suggs (especially now that he is considered the leader on that Defense)!
