  1. Freaking Monroe. I am not saying that he doesn't have a legit injury but I am saying he always has an injury. Legit or not... he has not helped us a whole lot since coming here. I think the writing may be on the wall and we may need to start to prepare for football without Monroe! IDK... hope I am wrong and I hope he heals up fast but I am beginning to wonder if the pressure of living up to expectations is the real injury bug in his case?????
  2. SAMI.... agreed... it was a 7th rounder and we will get the max of comp picks again this season! (with Haloti, Tyrod, Jacoby, Ngata, McPhee, etc).
  3. We cannot get pressure up front without tighter coverage.... so it is a catch 22. We need tight coverage for pressure and we need pressure to help the DB's - there is no disputing that but when the offense runs 3 step drops for 75% of the pass plays (in an effort to negate the pass rush) we need to adjust the scheme and stop giving 10 yard cushions. We need to be able to come up and press the WR's and need to be able to make it difficult for them to get off of the line. If we cannot adjust why would they? Teams will keep throwing the quick passes against us and take what we give them. We have big physical CB's and very athletic S's.... we have the right personal to play press or even bump and run. We need to be able to swallow our pride as Def coaches and abandon a scheme that we got out schemed on! Pees is calling out the DB's but HE set them up to fail by being to arrogant to admit he was being out schemed and he never did adjust. (This has been his MO since he got here) IF the game plan is working we are fine but if not he never adjusts in game... and forget it if they figure out our gameplan and adjust at the half... we will ride it out and hope we can simply hang on for the win. Heck the Super Bowl was a perfect example of that. How many times since Pees was here have we not been able to close a team out (Pats in the playoffs with two 14 point leads). The list goes on... we don't make adjustments and they do and we either win (but make it really interesting) or lose a game that we had every right to win. ITs not the DB's it is Dan Pees!
  4. Its not one game. THis has been a pattern since he has got here. We haven't been physical since he got here! We have great athletes on that side of the ball.... we have talent there but no teams fear our defense since he got here!
  5. The addition of Davis and the return of Melvin makes me feel a little better but they have AJ Green and he will be a force to reckon with. We need to stop the run first! They have two good backs and will try to be balanced. We need to take away the run game and then get to Dalton. We CANNOT sit back and play soft again and let another mediocre QB pick us apart. Put pressure on Dalton and he will turn the ball over. something we have been missing vs the Bengals over the past three encounters! Stop the run! Get to Dalton. Should mean a lot of blitz packages this week. CMon Pees!
  6. Campanaro should be used more. I don't care if it is marlon or kamar losing snaps or maybe a combination but Camp is a weapon and he creates mismatches. We need to get him on the field more. I would also like to see us use more two TE sets. With Gilmore playing well (and MAXX and BOYLE) on the squad... we need to take advantage of the fact the most teams will not have the LB's, S to match up with these guys, plus it will support Hurst in the blocking schemes and give Joe and extra target until Perriman is a go!
  7. Babin is the type of attitude we need to bring some nastiness back to the defense. Especially heading into a 3 game stretch vs AFC North foes. I hope that guys like Babin and Courtney and Timmy can start to establish us as a feared physical unit once again! I am afraid that since Pees came here we are known for having some good athletes on that side of the ball but not too many teams fear our defense anymore. I hope that Babin and company can begin to restore that moniker for us, in spite of Pees soft play calling! Go get Dalton and then Big Jen
  8. The Key to beating the Bengals is simply getting to Andy Dalton. Dalton is not a great QB but he does have great weapons. AJGREEN, MJONES, JHILL, GBEnard, etc... if Dalton has time those guys can make plays for him! If he feels the pressure though... he has shown that he will make the costly mistakes. SO 2 things this week. 1. Get to Dalton 2. Don't miss tackles. They will make plays but no free yardage- if Dalton has to make extra plays to drive them down the field he will make the mistakes. If we don't do those two things.... we will get carved up again by another mediocre QB!
  9. I mean... the talking is done.... the backs are to the wall. If we do not come out swinging -it is time for some overhauling. We have talent, we have depth. Yes we lost Suggs but like he said... we have been there before! Heck last season was a lot more tumultuous and we pulled it together. Get Dean Pees some help (if we refuse to get rid of him) lets hire an assistant DC. (to help keep Dean from playing soft and playing scared all of the time)> the new guy can make the calls, while dean can keep his position and get the credit for it all. It sounds like a win / win for me!
  10. Listen.... the start has been dismal at best and we played awful on offense in week # 1. To make matters worse... we played even worse then that on defense in week # 2 vs a mediocre team at best. However... I have said his all along. IF we win our Division games and our home games.... WE are in the play offs. Take care of business at home and take care of business in our own division... and we are right where we want to be. The problem is I haven't seen much to make me think we can accomplish either task at this point.... but this is one of the best organizations in the NFL. We have talent and one of the best, most consistent coaches in the NFL... Finally we have experience and have overcome adversity before. IF there is a team in the NFL who is suited to right the ship... you can find it here in BMORE... but our backs are to the wall now and it is time to come out swinging. No more bend but don't break DPEES football. We need to attack and stay aggressive... and we need to bring some of these young guys along quickly.
  11. I want to know if Harbs came down hard on Dean Pees???? I know that we missed tackles and I get it that we missed some coverages and didn't communicate well... That falls on the individuals but when multiple individuals all had the same infractions... Then I think it is (or at least looks like) a preparation and a tactical issue... That is the responsibility of the coaching staff... Pees is responsible for that stuff on the defensive side of the ball and this has happened on numerous occasions now. Where is the accountability for Pees???
  12. Good.... I am okay with this move but what about adding a Pass Rusher, a WR and a DC????
  13. THat defensive performance was unacceptable. If it were the only one under Pees... I would simply lick my wounds and move on... but this is not an aberration... this has happened many times before under Pees... He has no answer for QBs who game plan to negate our Pass rush by utilizing 3 step drops and a quick passing game. This has been consistnet. To make matters worse... we have struggled to get off of the field on 3rd downs since he took over, once again resulting in a very lopsided TOP.... Hard to win when the TOP is that far out of line (and this is consistent under Pees). We have invested a lot of draft picks on that side of the ball (CJ, Timmy, Brooks, BWilliams, Elam, ABrown, Jimmy, Webb,) etc... and we have even went out an landed some very big FA to bolster that defense (Elvis, DSmith, WHill, KLewis, Babin, Canty)! Those are high draft picks recently and those are recent big name -highly productive FA additions). If we didn't invest them there we could have added them to the offensive side of the ball but we believe in defense and we believe in shutting teams down. That is why we make the philosophical decisions that we do.... But it does us no good to have all of that talent if we do not know how to implement it! I really believe that with the talent we have- we could bring in any DC and they would do equally as well. Wouldn't it make sense to go our and make an equal investment in a DC with a proven track record. Our defensive investment is completely negated by not making an equal investment in a DC- and DPees is not that guy. Yes... he has some good games but he his entire stint at BMORE has been marked by inconsistency.... in fact the only thing consistent about our D under Pees has been that 1. from week to week it is hard to predict how they will play. and 2. when the game is on the line... we cannot count on our defense to close it out! We have made to big of an investment on that side of the ball for that to be true but it is our reality and will continue to be our reality as long as Pees is our DC!
  14. The Broncos produced 5 TO's, 6 sacks and another defensive TD (probably responsible 24 of their 31 points last night vs the chiefs). So... we need to acknowledge that we played an elite defense.... in doing so. we learned some things about ourselves. 1. We also have an elite defense. 2. We need to get better up front and WR's need to make more plays 3. If we cannot protect Joe... we need to go to more two TE sets (we have the personal for it and this gives us more weapons). 4. Screens and draws have been staples in slowing down the blitz... this is suppose to be Trestmans thing... We have the personal to hurt teams in the screen game (wether it be RB or WR screens). 5. Finally we need to continue to grow.... a close lose to Denver in Denver is not the end of the world... infact... I think in some ways it shows us that with a little growth we can be at the top of the heap!
  15. Prino61.... agreed we have a lot of young talent that you listed (Will, Jimmy, Timmy, Courtney, CJ, Urban, BWilliams and CDavis) but I think we can add to that list. TBrooks has a high ceiling also, Elam and ABrown were both very high picks who could still develop and add to that mix. Its too early to tell about ZSmith but that could be another... Yes we could be a top defense for the next 5 years (But at this point that is expected in BMROE). I would love to see us still add another cover CB and another Pass RUsher... in that time span (unless KLM can develop)
  16. 2 thoughts.... 1. Babin will help us. I am still worried about the pass rush and we will need to generate more pressure up the middle (Timmy, Canty, CJ and DSmith) but pressure is key in a passing league! While I think Babin will help, I really hope Timmy and KLM can take their game to the next level- I guess we can throw Upshaw into that same category). 2. If Monroe is not healthy do we move KO to T and Urschel to G????????????
  17. jacket... You are right.... Odrick is with the Jags... but we have a history of picking up Jags and working with JAX (Forsett, Monroe, DSmith, etc) bc they are building for the future not now! SO that is their incentive. 2. We do have OL depth... Urscel can step right in and play just like he did last year for KO! and we still have Jensen who can play G or C.... 3. We are in all likely hood going to lose KO bc we cannot keep both him and Yanda... Jax would love to have a dominant G to lead the way for TJ Yeldon and protect Blake Bortles (their future). We need a quality pass rusher. We can solve the problem of losing KO for nothing at the end of the year... by addressing our need now... we have the depth... the need and another team who would gain as much as they are giving! I don't want to see KO go either but I would rather us get something for him / rather then lose him and how for a comp draft pick! (which we would get) this would be a clear upgrade and we are not only in a position to do it but the timing may be right!
  18. Trade a draft pick to the Dolphins for Jared Odrick.... Or with Urschel on board does that make KO trade bait (we probably will not beable to sign both him and Yanda at the end of the year and if we don't we just lose him) but if we trade him now... Urschel can step in and play at a high level and we solve 2 problems. 1. Freeing up money next year to sign Yanda and 2. bringing in a quality pass rusher? I love KO but this may be a real option that helps the team now and next year!
  19. We made it ugly.... we made it our game. We strive in adversity.... A game, a season we shine when the cards are stacked against us. Its time to shine!
  20. The upside is...Harbs spent a year getting to know Kubiack and how he wants to operate. That familiarity could prove to be an advantage for us from a preparation standpoint.
  21. THis will be a great test for our re-vamped DBackfield. Will Hill, Kendrick Lewis and Arrington were not available in that debacle vs the Donkeys last year. A healthy Jimmy Smith, and LWebb going into this one makes me feel much better and then you add in the additions who were not part of that (Hill, Lewis, Arrington and RMelvin) and we should obviously fare much better. We still need to be able to move the ball and play some possession ... and we still need to commit to getting pressure on Peyton. (Suggs, Dum, Timmy, Upshaw, ZSmith) can really determine the outcome of this game. If we don't 1. move the chains and 2. Keep pressure on Peyton then we will struggle but if we can do those two things we can give the Donkey's some payback!
  22. JanuaryJ.... I dislike the Cheatriots as much as anyone but they have nothing to do with the headsets. Those are provided by the NFL, kept and maintained by the NFL. The only thing the patriots had to do with this is that they allowed the NFL to plug it in at thier stadium. I am all for calling things what they are but to suggest that billicheck somehow got the NFL to cheat for him is simply ridiculous and sounds out of touch with reality. Does MIke Tomlin think that they have an electrician in the stadium manipulating the voltage to just to the steelers headset. I think that the Patriots have done everything they can to push the envelope in looking for an advantage but at some point the conversation just gets silly. The NFL Monitors the communication even...and can (and have) confirmed that this was an issue for both teams. Bill Cowher and Herm Edwards said that communication issues are not uncommon in bad weather...and that all teams have alternate ways to communicate in the event that something happens. Cowher stated that it is a preparation issue (if it was an issue). This is a lot of crying about nothing for the sqeelers. The real issue is the can not stop Brady and cannot stop Gronk! those are the bottom lines.
  23. Peyton is 9-2 vs Baltimore with a 62% completion pct and 25 TD to 8 INT. THat is owing us. We have sacked him 17 x in those 11 games. In the games that we have sacked him 3 or more times we are 2-1. The Patriots have the best record vs Peyton... they have won 13 of the 20 games where they faced off. Part of it is bc they have a great offense to match up but part of it is bc they have sacked Peyton more then any other team in the league. Peyton never did like physicality and he is old and more fragile then ever. If we get to him - he is not the same QB but we have to get to him... or he can still pick us apart. Dean Pees cannot sit back and play soft against this guy like he did last year! I hope he learned his lesson!
  24. I predict that when you hit Peyton Manning a few times... you can almost see him age instantly. If you don't get to him... he looks like he found the fountain of youth. CMon DPees.... get after this guy and he will show is age... all the geritol in the world wont change that!
  25. We have two reasons to blame for not having our SB celebration at home: 1. the Colorado Rockies suck and 2. So does Peter Angelos!
