  1. Perriman is way too early to call a bust. The guys hasn't even stepped foot on an NFL field yet... how can we say if he is a bust or not... no one has seen him play. A career is not one season.... lets wait and see on this on... I do think they are right in saying the real problem is the lack of a back up plan. THey placed a lot of hope in a 36year old WR and a rookie! The 36 year old has held up his end of the bargain but with out back ups... it only took one injury to derail us! That's not okay..... in today's NFL.
  2. Love Torrey and Q... hope the best for them. I wish we coulda kept one or both but that is todays NFL.... maybe Kapernick will continue to suck... Torrey's numbers will drop and we can get him back cheaply opposite Perriman!
  3. I don't blame this on Sharece Wright but I do question why we have him playing cover 1 vs their # 1 WR's (Boldin and TOrrey) and on many occasions with NO help over the top???? What??? were we looking for a scape goat? WHat could we have been thinking. Here is a guy (while I think better then he played) who has less then 1 week of preparation and we place him on an island vs Q and Torrey (like he is D Reevis) or something? What kind of Play calling is that? WHat could we have been thinking? THat is simply unexcusable and even after Sharece got burned for a TD... we did it too him 4 more times? Not only did we make a bad decision but we never adjusted after we got beat on a bad decision. IDK how anyone watches this stuff and doesn't walk away thinking that Pees is clueless?????? Unbeleiveable!
  4. law215.... it is not just D Stewart playing great under a new DC either. James Ihedigbo looks like a probowler in Detroit's defense. Two Safeties that weren't good enough here... who look great there! The adverse is true also... Will Hill looked like one of the top Safeties in the league before coming here... and has only shown glimpses of that and a lot of inconsistency since coming here? Why???? KLewis looked great in Houston and has come here and is not cutting it???? WHY? Heck the list doesn't stop there either... and the sample is getting too large to ignore. Killer instinct is such a vague answer... how do we get a killer instinct? Why haven't we had it (if its just a matter of getting it) how can we be sure to have more of it moving forward? Whos fault is it that this key ingredient has been absent? and who is responsible and how are we holding them accountable. Law215... I agree with you! We just are not hearing the real issues but we are seeing the results of not wanting to acknowledge the real issue and not holding the DC responsible!
  5. pees is so full of it. "consistency is all they need" well my question is why have they not played consistent???? if (according to pees) they have the ability to play well sometime (just not 60 minutes) my question again is why? This means it cannot be an ability issue then... obviously the ability is there.... why cant we get it there for 4 quarters???? Consistency.... who is responsible for lack of consistency?????????? Pees SMH!
  6. I loved Mostert at Purdue. I thought he looked great in the pre-season with the eagles... This kid is very raw with little FB experience but a ton of raw potential. He can fly by the way... track star speed and great agility. I like the pick up and I am curious what he can do in our system. Whats the deal with LT though???/
  7. I have no problem with bitzing and I like the fact that we are a blitzing team. (although that has not been Pees MO) but I hope we remain aggressive but Typically when you blitz you press the WR's, play bump in run or move to a short zone. Holding the WR's up long enough to allow the pass rush to get to the QB. If not.... there is little sense in blitzing. When you play 7 yards off of the WR's and blitz the QB releases the ball quickly or hit the hot routes... When we don't put our players in an advantageous position we get taken advantage of.... time and time and time again. I hope we blitz and stay consistent there. we have the athletes and the versatility... but "IF" we are going to do that then we need to put them in a position to be successful with it! Pees!
  8. I wish we could have had both on the team. Toughness, leadership, and clutch...playmakers. We cannot get enough of these two types of players... fell lucky to have had them both wear the purple and black!
  9. We have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. We have a franchise QB and a pro-bowl RB. WE have a very good OL with depth (if we can secure either Yanda or KO or both). We have some good young TE's. We have a very talented and young DL (need some help at DE but Urban should be back next season). We have a great LB corp (and we will re-sign Upshaw). We have Jimmy, Webb, Will, and KLewis with a developing TBrooks and Elam back next year. We need to add some talent at the WR and CB position but the nucleus to a very good team already exists. Do we need some help? YES... do we have enough talent to allow us some freedom - if we want to make some moves? Yes. DO I think we need to make major moves? NO (only one and that is at the DC position). I Really believe that if we add a good WR or two and one more talented Corner... we are as talented as anyone in the league... now we need to put our players in a position for success. (something our defensive coaches have not been doing)... and showing regression and full out deterioration. Our needs... (DC, WR, CB) in that order!
  10. risenconqueer.... there are no pom poms ...there is just reality. Like I said... on DL... BWilliams is a probowl caliber DL. at LB.. Elvis, Cj and Dsmith are probowl caliber LBS and at DB Jimmy Smth was just lauded as one of the top 5 CBs in the game just last season... that is pro bowl caliber talent at every level of the defense. DL / LB / DB ... there are no POM POMS just reality... stop being blind and believing Pees excuses. Nobody is good enough to perform in this system.
  11. CJ is a baller and he will re-bound. But even his performance is indicative of the fact that our defense often looks confused out there and out of sync. When the defensive scheme make CJ look bad with his enormous talent -what chance do the rest of our guys have?
  12. Givens was more of a decoy then anything at this point and the Browns knew that. He didn't have time to learn the system and be much of a factor vs the Browns - I expect him to be more involved moving forward and starting this week!
  13. You know what is funny... only 8 of our defensive players had non -negative scores (grades) for this week. 4 of them (or 50 % of them were DB's). In other words the DB (including LWebb and Arrington did what their job assignments required them to) and yet to any on-looker we can tell they had a horrible game letting Josh McCown pass for 450 plus yards to sup-par WR's. To sum this up.... if they did there job well and they still gave up that much... it is more about the poor defensive scheme and play calling then it was about our DB's lack of talent this week!
  14. Everyone keeps saying that we have a lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball and that is simply not true. STOP buying into Pees excuses and lies. Nobody is good enough for a coach that isn't cutting it. We have probowl caliber talent at every level of the defense. DL. Brandon Williams is a probowl interior DL. and CDavis is one of the top rookies in the league. TJernigan has probowl talent when he learns to be NFL consistent. LGuy is a solid DL and while maybe not pro bowl level...he is certainly not without talent. OLB. We have Elvis who is a pro bowl LB. We have Upshaw and while he is not pro bowl bc he doesn't put up flashy numbers there are not many in the league better at playing the run... meeting the ball carrier at the point of attack and setting an edge. Just a few years ago... everyone praised Jarrett Johnson for doing that same thing. ILB both CJ and DSmith are pro bowl caliber LBs and I believe that you would be hard pressed to find a better ILB tandem in the NFL then that. CB. Jimmy Smith has pro bowl caliber talent. (when used to his strength). In fact just last season most pundits were calling him one of the top 5 shut down CB's in the NFL. Webb at one time played at that level and we see inconsistent streaks of this talent in his game still but he has grown very inconsistent in a system that does not play to his strengths). Will Hill was a very short time ago being called one of the best Safeties in football. K lewis while maybe not pro bowl caliber looked close to it last year in Houston. He is certainly not without talent. Kyle Arrington was a highly coveted FA CB just at the start of this season... (in fact probably one of the top FA CB's on the market)... and while nobody expected him to come in and be DReevis... he is certainly not without talent. That alone is a great deal of talent on this D and most DC's would kill to have that kind of talent to work with! Stop believing Dean Pees lies. He has had an excuse since he got here. They were too old, We lost too much the next year (when all of those old players retired). THe next season we were re-building and last season we had too many injuries. This season we have no talent? A lot of excuses for not achieving! Stop believing those lies and allowing Pees to place blame elsewhere! There is a great deal of talent on this defense but they are all under achieving and all look very un-prepared come game time. Worse yet... they consistently collapse when the game is on the line and consistently look confused out there (especially from half time on - when other coaches have made adjustments). Who is responsible for that? (On most other teams it is the DC)? IDK why Pees keeps getting a free pass. We have talent don't believe that lie anymore! The only place we don't have pro bowl caliber talent is at the DC position!
  15. WOW Melvin was waived????? Really???? Why the regression with Melvin also?
  16. Ross played well. I have no problem with giving him more opportunity back there! Keep it up JR!
  17. IDK.... I get that a lot of the high picks are producing but why not? Ozzie and company have done their due diligence before making draft picks. We can believe that. Take Elam for example... we utilized a resource (an ex-coaching connection between fla gators and Bravens) and we had an insiders assurance on Elam before we drafted him. He came here and under Pags started every game and played solid. Maybe not spectacular but very solid and in a tough position for a rookie. Pags leaves and Pees comes in and all of a sudden Elam cant play and is a bust. Heck McPhee had a great rookie year the same season with 7.5 sacks under Pags... the next year Pees comes in and McPhee is a non-factor. TCody...just the yea before looked in shape and ready to make his mark (under Pags) even made the game winning play vs the Chiefs in the playoffs to propel us in the post season... Pees comes in and the next season Cody is a bust. Chykie Brown showed a lot of promise as a big physical press CB under Pags... Pees comes in the next season and has Chykie playing opposite his strengths and what we drafted him for and has him playing (like all of our CBs) 5 yards off the WR and Chykie is a bust and quickly cut. LWebb looked like one of the top CBs in the NFL under PAGS (and I know he has had some injuries) but he is a physical CB... who we drafted for that reason. Pees comes in and tries to turn him into DSanders and make him a finesse cover guy (not what we drafted him for) and we wonder why Webb looks so inconsistent now. JSmith.... has been said to be one of the top 5 CB's in the NFL. We drafted him for his size and physicality. (We don't allow him to utilize it) and are trying to turn him into Deon and he looks lost in our defensive scheme? He hasn't looked top 50 much less top 5 (and I know he has had some injuries) But we are not playing our guys to their strengths... we are trying to force the proverbial square peg into the round hole! 15 draft picks over the last 5 years on defense. We have went out and brought in FA's like CCanty, DSmith, Will Hill, KLewis, and others to try to give Pees tools to ensure defensive success and he continues to fail. And fail with excuses. THe problem is his predecessors has success with the some of the same players -who are playing worse since Pees arrived. Even bigger problem.. some of the current players (Will Hill, KLewis) have played much better under previous DC's.... and some of our players who left since Pees got here are playing much better for other DC's (JIhedigbo, McPhee, JSimon, BPollard, DStewart, etc). Both Ihedigbo and Darian Stewart are playing very well with their current teams (broncos and lions respecitively) and we said the weren't good enough. It is getting easier to see that no one is good enough to have success in this system because the system is broken. How did we get here. Dean Pees! That's an easy one!
  18. Shareece Wright is a great pick up for us. The kid can play and I am not sure how we landed him but we are lucky to have him. It wouldn't surprise me if he rises quickly to being a significant contributor and a significant player for us! Shocked in a good way! This really is an excellent signing....
  19. 1. Closing out games- we haven't done this well since Pees took over 2. Coaching players better.... our defense has consistently underachieved since Pees took over. 3. Not making stupid penalties... this has been a problem getting progressively worse for our defense. 4. Have the attitude to go win the game.... We haven't felt that our defense could stop anyone consistently since Pees took over. Even by Harbs standards.... Pees has failed in every area that he says is a necessity to win games and Harbs still makes excuses for him? If Harbs has on flaw it is that he is loyal to a fault! Harbs is a great coach but he don't hold his assistant coaches accountable enough and he will never admit that they are not cutting it no matter how bad they perform. (Cam Cameron / Dean Pees). How many games have we lost that those two are primarily responsible for? TOOOO MNANY! Ozzie and Biscotti need to step in and force his hand at some point.... I get it... Harbs wants to protect his friends... I respect that but the FO has to be the bad guys in this one.... it is over due!
  20. I agree with his last statement. They don't need to coach harder... they need to coach better.... the problem is that Pees has shown that he doesn't have he ability to coach better... Now What? The fact that Harbs even made the statement about not getting rid of the coaches ... shows that he knows what the issues really are. If Pees has regressed over the past 3 plus seasons.... and he has.... then how is he going to get better? Is John going to hold his hand and help him do his job? That just distracts that head coach and that is not in the best interest of the team... it is time to move on Harbs... Just like Cam Cameron... I know that you didn't want to but it was for the betterment on the team...>> Time to move on and let Pees go!
  21. I really do think Harbs is a great coach. I thing his one down fall is that he don't hold his assistants accountable enough! When Cam Cameron didn't cut it....it took him too many loses to finally acknowledge this and do something about it (and I think that was forced from the FO). When Gary Moeller struggled...same thing. Now that Dean Pees is struggling.... that axe should have been out a long time ago. Harbs gives his assistants way too much freedom and doesn't hold them accountable unless he is forced to. CMon Biscotti.... time to get rid of Pees!
  22. I don't know if the Ravens season is over or not???? but I know that Dean Pees season with the Ravens should be over!
  23. LT-Joe Thomas said they were blitzing the Safties and doing everything they could to try to stop the run. WHY????? the browns were not running on us...nor did they show anything that would suggest they could consistently. Why when we are getting our eyes passed out by JMCCOWN! Clueless... Dean Pees has been clueless since he got here and the defensive continue to decompose right before our very eyes... I think that is three games this year that we scored 30 or more points in and lost. I think all four of our loses we put up at least 20 points in.... and lost! Our DC is clueless and his has been obvious for some time! We will continue to get worse until Pees is sent packing!
  24. Purple Dawg 96..... I hear what you are saying about the Browns having the same problems as the Ravens did before Joe arrived. But lets not forget that The RAVENS still won a super bowl before Joe got here! We were not just strong in every position but QB... we are so much better then everyone else (AT RB, at TE. on the OL, on the DL, in our LB corps and in our DBackfield) that we were able to win the games highest honor without the typical pilot in a QB... the browns are solid but they aint that! The aint us!
  25. I think the right mix at DB is any combination of the DB's that we have minus Dean Pees!
