DTs coming out of college typically do not have a high level of proficiency in terms of two-gap techniques. Thus, the bigger guy does better just on space eating ability alone. This is probably why Davis is getting those snaps. But playing great two-gap technique is more than just learning the feel and body movements, it's also developing the core strength to stay leveraged and fight through the blocks. I'd question the Ravens coaching and strength program if a talented guy like Jernigan doesn't make the successful transition. He has the potential and niche ability, just doesn't seems to know how to refine it.
