Best to take as much time as the healing needs, but despite what they say, I believe you CAN come back stronger from that injury, so long as you don't let the surgeons mess it up. I went without surgery, no boot, just basically walking it off, long walk. A little better each day with still a long ways to go. He could be playing again at some point in 2017, but game one is probably not wise. During the down time he could work on staying loose and regaining the muscular balance that you lose doing conventional training, and come back feeling like he's 25 again. Age is just a number that means little.
