  1. Haha, yeah I'll agree with you guys and pass on Orange Is the New Black. I'm sure its a fine show in its own right, but the old lady parts revelation on here and the fact that the premise and setting do not interest me at all as a 29 year old male and I'll just let it be as well. I've been meaning to check out Luther since I'm a fan of Idris Elba. I assume you would reccommend it based on your comments?
  2. If the price was right I would love to see him as a Raven. However, I really doubt it happens for just that reason.
  3. South Park is a really good example of how a good cartoon doesn't have to be well animated. The first season especially looked pretty terrible but at the time it was unique enough in its style and content that it became successful. Some 15+ years later, its episodes are a lot nicer looking due to them using computers for it now but retains its own style. The subject material is hit or miss to me anymore (which is to be expected when it has ran as long as it has) but the show's popularity has only increased each season it seems. I enjoy "poorly" animated shows like Squidbillies and some of Adult Swim's other stuff. I guess the point is, if its a good enough show in and of itself it will find an audience regardless of perspective animation quality, especially if the show itself can poke fun at its own qualities as some of these do.
  4. Just curious, but to those with gripes about poor animation, what qualifies as "good" animation and "bad" animation in your perspectives? I only ask because I grew up watching "bad" animation in the early 90s (i.e. Ren & Stimpy, etc) and while I can see where someone could have that perspective, mine was always, even as a kid, that it was "unique" animation and not "bad" animation. And I think that's the whole point, to come up with something different. Why do you think all of the Looney Toon knockoffs airing today in 2014 are nowhere near as popular as the originals? On the flipside, I do understand that "bad" animation as you all have put it is the new cool thing and as a result it isn't "unique" as I put it anymore. Just curious on your thoughts on good/bad because its an entirely subjective concept.
  5. The couple episodes I've watched were awesome but I always forgot about it coming on Monday nights (i think it was originally Mondays). On thr subject of cartoons, Axe Cop is hilarious if you can remember while watching that the basis of the "stories" are coming directly from a 5 year old's imagination, with his older brother making it into a "mature" cartoon.
  6. As far as Netflix goes, a couple I've been enjoying lately since more or less writing them off without watching when they came out are Prison Break and Supernatural. Not sure why I panned Prison Break as I'm really enjoying it but with Supernatural my thought process was "two good looking dudes, on the CW, advertising vampires and werewolves, gotta be some Twilight-like garbage." Its actually a decent show with some great brotherly interactions between Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki and a great variety of confrontations in it. I've only watched a season and a half of it but not bad, with only (to the point I'm at) two vampire-centric and one werewolf-centric episodes. Lots of demons, ghosts, and other monsters from various folklores. I still prefer Prison Break of the two.As far as shows I already enjoyed that are on Netflix, here are some of my favorites you probably already have at least heard of: (Comedy) It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Psych Arrested Development Parks and Recreation Robot Chicken The Venture Brothers Trailer Park Boys My Name Is Earl (Dramas) Chuck (which is comedic a lot as well) Wilfred (also comical) Burn Notice Fringe House Damages The aforementioned Prison Break and Supernatural Hatfields and McCoys is a very cool, well done miniseries I only wish Justified was on Netflix so I could reccommed it as well.
  7. Been really enjoying Toro Y Moi's 2013 album "Anything in Return" lately. Great "chillwave" indie album. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm patiently awaiting the new album "From Parts Unknown" from the rocking party animals in Every Time I Die that comes out in July.
  8. Yeah Billy Bob as Malvo is great. Malvo has to be one of if not the most interesting character on tv at the moment because I have zero clue what his motivations and endgame are. Im sure that Malvo and Lester will meet again soon too since Malvo is the one who instilled this dark pseudo-bravado we're seeing in Lester the last couple of episodes where the Lester of the first episode wouldn't dream of doing what he is up to now. Billy Bob is the best but really I've been impressed by most of the actors on the show. Allison Tolman (Deputy Molly Solverson), Martin Freeman (Lester Nygard), Oliver Platt (Stavros), have all been consistently good. Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my favorite comedy so Ive been impressed by Glenn Howerton in a more dramatic role as Don Chumpf as well, although Don's complete ignorance to Malvo has made him somewhat comedic here as well.My favorite shows, as I mentioned with Justified in this thread, are the ones with flushed out characters, even the smaller characters, and Fargo does a great job with this. Just look at the hitmen Numbers and Wrench, they gave them this great dynamic between the two of them just by making Wrench a DEAF hitman, haha. As a result you geta couple of great scenes of them arguing via subtitled sign language, haha.
  9. I agree, Raylan wouldn't be Raylan without Boyd and as I said Walton Goggins' portrayal of Boyd is just as cool as Olyphant's Givens. It is gonna be an extremely long wait but it will be worth it because this final season is gonna be like the pilot episode, Raylan vs Boyd. No other way the series could end if you ask me...can't wait.
  10. There is amazingly little love for Justified EVERYWHERE from what I see. I've been watching it since the pilot aired and I was hooked. I admittedly only watched because I have a man crush on Timothy Olyphant and knew little about Elmore Leonard's works apart from some movie adaptations. It is the best drama on tv in my opinion. Every character is so well written and acted, it has a substantial amount of depth, even for just the characters who show up for a few episodes or less. Plus lets just face it, Raylan Givens is the coolest character on tv if you ask me (Walton Goggins as Raylan's "frienemy" gives him a run at that coolness himself) Anyone who has seen Olyphant as him ahas to put him in their top 5 in that regard. The season that just finished was admittedly my least favorite though I still enjoyed it. Fortunately they set up the final season extremely well and I'll be counting down the days until it boots back up in January.
  11. I missed the first episode, thought it was gonna be a month or so after the season finale of one of my other favorites Justified in the same FX time slot but it started immediately the next week. But after catching up on what I missed, it is a great show, especially as a fan of the movie. Writing is top notch and the acting is just as good. Last week was a crazy, action filled ending for sure with a couple of characters meeting their fates.
  12. "WAH WAH WAH, I could draft better than the Ravens! WAH WAH WAH!"

  13. Since we were able to get Brooks, the 4th or 5th best safety in the draft, I actually love the way our first 4 picks went down. Regardless of what the popular opinion is, secondary help either at free safety or nickel corner was a much bigger need than right tackle at this point in what everyone is acknowledging is now largely a pass dominant league, so I'm glad we were able to straddle the BPA/need line enough to fill one of those two spots with a solid prospect. Mosley and Jernigan will help improve the run defense while Mosley can do some middle of the field coverage well and Jernigan can help bring the heat on QBs. People hating on the Gillmore pick? Before the draft, all I heard here was "we need a blocking tight end" and now when we draft a guy who is a solid blocker already with tons of room to improve there, everyone hates it? Give me a break. He needs to improve as a route runner but he already has good hands too, he won't be a 20 yd catch guy as he simply doesn't have the speed but could really help in moving the chains and providing a big target in the red zone. I find it extremely hypocritical that some fans were on here vehemently defending the Mosley pick a couple of nights ago but are upset with the Gillmore pick. As far as right tackle goes, I have said it before. Had he not struggled at left tackle his senior season at Wisconsin, Rick Wagner would have been a 2nd round, at worst 3rd round pick last year. He is already over the rookie o-lineman hump I have mentioned several times that they almost all have year one in adjusting to the speed of the league. He is already a nasty run blocker and that is more the right tackle's forte unless your QB is left handed which isn't a problem in Baltimore. Someone posted on one thread last night, can't recall who, that they talked to Rick in person very recently and he told them "no one is taking that spot from me" and convinced them we may already have the right guy for the job. And even if it isn't Rick, I'm sure as the idea has already been thrown around that Eric Winston would certainly be a doable signing post draft if necessary and I'm sure he would be interested because we aren't going to find a "starting caliber right tackle" in this draft Eisenberg, there's usually only half a dozen or so of those guys tops across the o-line in each class anyway as far as their rookie season goes. Not to mention with a newer simplified blocking scheme, we already have 4 very good linemen filling our other 4 line positions. When you have those guys already, the 5th guy doesn't need to be some superstar, just a solid, competent player and I think Wagner (or Winston if that become a route we take) can easily fill that role.
  14. I actually agree with every thing you said and certainly don't doubt the Mosely pick as I said back on page 3, but you lost me with the casual chip in of the "signed that safety from st.louis" like thats the solution there when YOU can't even be bothered to type his name. A lot of draftniks thought St. Louis would pick Clinton-Dix because they need safety help but Stewart off of their scrap heap because Spagnouko coached him is a really the answer on our team? Occassionally that works but...I dont buybit here. And as much as I like Omar Brown, he would have been in the defensive rotation the last two years if he had truly shown what he does in preseason in practice and real games. My opinion has slightly changed now that two other safeties flew off the board as well but I still like Mosley a lot. I think its understandable that many of us aren't mad or upset with the Mosley pick, I know I like it, it just becomes a little disappointing when Ward and Buccannon are picked well before we have another selection and knowing the issues this team currently has at the position.
  15. Hopefully we can still get Terrence Brooks from Florida State, he's the only safety left I think is trustworthy of truly contributing his first season.
  16. I'll echo what has mostly been said. I like Mosley a lot but was disappointed in the pick with Clinton-Dix and Pryor still there or even one of the corners like Dennard still there. I just don't see a clear-cut role for Mosley on the team at the moment and that's probably what disappoints me the most with Daryl Smith coming off the best season of his career and with having traded up for Arthur Brown last year and the faith Harbs and the staff have put in Brown. Mosley is a clear upgrade over McClellan and Bynes but those guys are already reliable backups with spot starts under their belt and wouldn't be terrible options with an injury. I can't say I feel the same about Omar Brown, Chykie Brown, and Asa Jackson even though I like the potential they have. It is what it is and I trust the pick and welcome C.J. with open arms, at least we should set at both inside linebacker spots for the next decade if he and Brown turn out the way we all hope. Now if only we could still get Jimmie Ward tomorrow, not holding my breath on that though with the way he has already been talked up tonight, he could go tonight too...
  17. Again I will preface this by saying I like the trade for Zuttah but everyone keeps quoting my posts in this thread because I'm not all over the Zuttah bandwagon and I'm not bashing Gradkowski. And Im not singling you out here fly, i just keep seeing everyone oo-ing and ahh-ing at Zuttah having not surrendered a sack in two seasons. You guys do realize how skewed this statistic is for centers in general right? In both forms of base defenses used in the NFL, the onus is on the defensive ends (4-3) and outside linebackers (3-4) to bring the heat, aka outside pressure. Any added pressure a team can get with their three and five technique guys or mike/jack 'backers (3-4) or interior DTs/outside linebackers (4-3) is usually a bonus as they have other primary roles over that. I do realize there are some beastly pass rushers who don't fit those roles (Geno Atkins comes to mind) but the point is, you've got to be a pretty god awful center to be surrendering more than a couple of sacks or so a season. As maligned as Gradkowski was for the self-admitted bad season he had, he was credited with surrendering 2.5 sacks. My best buddy is a Cowboys fan so I've watched plenty of their games the past 5+seasons and they had an equally, if not worse 16 game center in Phil Costa in '11. His sacks given up that year?: 2 (on a semi-related note he was ecstatic about the Travis Frederick pick because of Costa since he was mentioned in this thread). In comparison, our own all-pro Marshal Yanda was credited with 4 surrendered sacks last year. Why more than "worst lineman on the planet according to some Ravens' fans" Gradkowski? Because the further from the center of the line you get, the more consistent pressure an o-lineman will see on every passing down. Why do you think offensive tackles, particularly left tackles for right handed QBs get paid the most money of offensive linemen? Because stopping the brunt of the pressure from aforementioned 3-4 outside 'backers and 4-3 defensive ends are on them. The point is, I love the potential of our new line (at least one draft pick pending Im sure and possibly a training camp cut pending) but I'm not going to go ga-ga over a sacks surrendered stat for centers for similar reasons many of you are not fond of Football Outsiders, PFF, etc.
  18. As I already said, I like this trade but I'm in a wait and see mode to see who earns the 3 starting spots up for grabs before gushing over the guy. You do realize the game you mentioned as an example was against the Atlanta Falcons' 31st ranked run defense right? Rainey's only other 100+ yard rushing game came against the 28th ranked Buffalo Bills' run defense. I have high hopes for Zuttah and our line too but not a particularly good example. Its sort of like how Rice had the terrible year he had but put up over 100 yards against a terrible Bears' run defense...
  19. I like this trade and his age, experience, and versatility is a boon for a staff that preaches that final trait in every question asked about its offensive line. That said, I'm surprised so many of you think this is our new savior, in ProFootballFocus' words, Zuttah has been "consistently average" the duration of his career and had already been mentioned as a potential cap casualty with the Bucs since the beginning of the offseason. This will improve the competition in the interior of our line and I wouldn't be surprised if he wound up winning a starting spot on the line but its not a shoo-in either.
  20. Ok, what is up with this whole "Ice Up, Son" saying from him? Never been a fan of "catchphrases" or whatever you'd like to call them myself (even Sizzle's lines in the past) but you guys are going to wear it out before OTAs even start.
  21. 3 years? Seriously? So much for developing any young talent (not named Torrey) on the field for a real long term investment...
  22. Well seing as I befuddled him with my use of the word when you quoted him quoting me, I'd say no. Its all good, you and I are capable of being OBjective which is the key here.
  23. Funny how the definition of #1 receiver is completely subjective to each franchise and moreso to fans...
  24. Sweet, now we are set with our top 3 wideouts, just need to bring in some more young talent in the draft. I wasn't anticipating this any time soon as I figured he would test the market some more. Wonder what the specifics are...
  25. He wasnt going to retire anyway so your logic is as moot as mine. Your comment leads me to believe that you're as sick of hearing about his "unstoppable" offense as well so lets just enjoy the blowout together
