What's the ETA on the escalators?
i heard they will be ready for the 2018 season
First one in 2018, second one in 2019 (according to the news on the way home)
Am I the only one who saw Williams seemingly not giving 100% in the New England and Pittsburgh games? (I'll ignore everything from the Cincy game for obvious reasons). Basically I think Williams may be a little over rated, after all, when it mattered most, our defense couldn't stop the run, which is the primary goal of a big interior lineman.
Also, while the article mentions ex-Ravens who got big money paydays after leaving the Ravens, how many EARNED they money at their next team? Certainly not Kruger, Ellerbie, or Smith. I'd say KO has, so that's one in five. Or, from the opposite perspective, the Ravens made the RIGHT call in 4 of 5 cases when we allowed them to walk.
who was the best defensive-lineman he went up against
I don't know ... i"m not going to go down the list of teams and look at who their edge rusher was.
He can only block the guy in front of him. Not sure what else you want him to do.
Steelers Harris gave him a hard time.
Yeah, his first game back from an ankle injury in his rookie year. We all have different views, different backgrounds, but it's pretty hard to argue against %$#&^ comments like that.
he is average at best he got flacco hurried on numerous occasions he is no Ogden he is a consistent Oher and we all know how that turned out he is solid but I wish we would have gotten hargraves CB at 6 but I don't see stanley being a franchise LT hope we finally draft a good CB this year with 1st round pick
Glad Ozzie make the picks and not you!
so your happy with the bums that he picks I'm not can't wait for ozzie to be fired
Most of us are pretty happy with the guys Ozzie picks. We've had some great seasons. And really good guys... I mean afterall, Ozzie did pick Ogden, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, among many others like Chris McAlister, and got guys like Shannon Sharpe, Derrick Mason, Todd Heap... and the list goes on and on.... SMH... I'm just amazed at how people live their lives completely ticked off about everything and everybody now a days.
Some people (BiggMack?) insist on perfection - FROM OTHERS!

Fire Ozzie? You must want us to become more like the Browns.

The best LT in the league (per PFF) is considered "average at best? Dang, its hard to please some people.
Yanda moves to left guard and Stanley plays great in the last 5 weeks. Coincidence?
Yanda moved to left guard because he had a shoulder injury that was affecting his play on the right side.
Stanley got healthy at the right time. I'm not sure Yanda moving had much to do with Stanley's performance otherwise.
It may have helped in ways we don't see. I recall a few years ago in Monroe's first season, and he had rookies next to him because KO was injured. When KO returned, Monroe remarked how KO helped in the o-line communications which helped him overall.
Head Coach John Harbaugh wants to see upgrades at cornerback, pass rusher and offensive line. He also has his eye on a playmaking third running back and possession wide receiver.
I think when doom Suggs Kamalei and Kafusi heal up and team up with matt judon our pass rush will be just fine. I don't see a CB worth a no.16 draft pick so well probably sign some one in FA. I really see us getting either dynamic RB like Cook or a monster prospect WR like corey davis. Im so excited to take a RB or WR in the first round. We need to get some flacco some weapons.
I think your wrong Doom has not done anything in 2 years and would have to take a pay cut to stay and the to rookies we have no clue judon I think will be good suggs played good this year but another year older we need 1 more good young pass rusher
A 6 million dollar contract will be the end of Doom. What has Kamalei Correa done other then be invisible? Kafusi a BIG question. And what happened to that dynamic burner #1 pick Breshad Perriman? I could live with his very average numbers if he was a 5th round pick NOT a #1 pick.
Well, 2 of the players mentioned were rookies; gotta give them another year or two.
We had one of the BEST/BEAST possession receivers who over the last four years has "ONLY" averaged 70 catches a season. Anquan Boldin. Now we need a possession receiver? Traded this WINNER for next to nothing when he was on a flight. Would NOT have gone on the Super Bowl run without him.
Yes, we traded him for very little, which was better than getting NOTHING for him when he would have left via free agency. Agree we would not have gone to the superbowl without him; except the same could be said about Lewis, Suggs, Ngata, KO, Pitta, Rice, and Flacco.
Forgot to add: I think we're fine with running backs, it's the o-line that needs improvement, at both run-blocking and pass protection (or, maybe a new o-line coach?).
1. Our wish list this year seems to be the same as last year.
2. MY wish list: D-line, outside linebacker, CB, inside linebacker, o-line. I would add WR to the list, but our record on drafting WRs has been pretty dismal since, well, forever!
I can see retaining Marty as OC, given that continually changing coordinators IS NOT a recipe for success; however I cringe when I think of Marty's play calling/giving up on the run this past season.
On defense, I just saw too many 4th quarter melt downs under Pees this year as well as years past.
Bottom line, though: "cleaning house" after an 8-8 season in which we were inches away from beating Pittsburgh AT Pittsburgh would have made us more like Cleveland than New England. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm glad the Browns play elsewhere.
If only the Browns were that dumb...
Dude.... You're too funny. Man, The Browns would give up just about anything to have a guy like that on their team.
Just remember the Browns have only one way to go and that's UP.
They do have the first pick which they could turn into more first round picks, with some seconds and thirds sprinkled in. Its a nice spot to be in.
NO. Picking first because you have the worse record in the NFL IS NOT a nice spot to be in.
While I blame the defense more than the offense for missing the playoffs, I (and everyone else) seem to agree that we need to run the ball more. All it takes is - CALL MORE RUNS! I can see passing when the run game isn't working, but in most this year we often didn't give the run game a chance, or worse - the run game was effective but we still went 99% pass in second half (as in the Washington game).
Players have made themselves pretty clear. And I don't believe they want a change if you listen to Pitta and Joe. The only people asking for that change are the fans.
What do the players know? Mike McCoy OC and Rex Ryan DC. The players would have a new motivation. McCoy ran a great offense in Denver. Injuries plagued him in SD. Rex is a motivator. The Ravens need motivation. We looked stale half the time. We were. The last game was a preview of next year.
You seem to have forgotten the 2005 Ravens. The team was 5-11 (I believe), but just as importantly, the coaches (plural) had lost control of the team, both in the locker room and on the field. The defense was totally out of control, and a significant part of the blame goes to Rex Ryan. Rex did good at NY for two years, and has failed the next 5! Sorry, we don't need more of Rex.
Apologies for being long winded.
Now frustration is starting to kick in. I'm almost always an optimist regarding the ravens as I have a lot of faith in our front office, but the status quo wasn't CLOSE to being good enough this year, so lets keep the same?
Sadly, Joe is completely oblivious to his own shortcomings (and the offenses as a whole for that matter)... Its honestly insulting that he thinks the Raven's Flock is THAT stupid to accept such an answer; that situations dictated abandoning the run game all year leading to the skewed stats. News Flash, ravens fans know football and were tired of hearing the same crap out of your mouth when the games that we are watching with our own eyes don't support your comments? All Joe wants is to have the stats so that the sports world will finally call him an elite quarterback. his answer to the play call that almost cost us the Philly game is as close to admittance as you'll ever see when using coach/player speak.
My eternal optimist side is saying that perhaps Morningwheg was handicapped by Trestman's flawed offense and had no choice but to tailor his game-plan accordingly, but his history as an OC suggests otherwise. If we do not have a hammering run game next year, complimented by play action and explosive plays, Harbs gets the door. Much less optimism after listening to his press conference this morning.
"but the status quo wasn't CLOSE to being good enough this year, so lets keep the same..."
Not really, We were INCHES away from being 10-6 and #3 seed in the AFC - INCHES (look back at the Pittsburgh and Washington games). We didn't get there, but we were pretty darn close.
This doesn't seem to make much sense to me at all. On one hand you want to change your identity on offense...be creative, and run the ball more, but you keep the same guy who didn't do a good job of any of that. How is a position coach being creative going to help you with offensive game calling?
The only thing that would make sense to me is if Marty was essentially keeping the same playbook as Trestman so that the offense wouldn't have to learn a whole new offense part way through the season. That his gameplan would be something different.
It is hard to argue the stats to make a case against Dean Pees if you just looked at the stats. A top 5 run defense and a top 10 pass defense and a top 10 overall defense. It isn't until you watch the games and see how this team loses that you begin to understand what the issues are. Late in games the defense went into "cover 0 zone" or something because the one thing you should never do is let a man get wide open deep with less than a minute left in the game...and that's precisely what happened over and over again. The day, night coverage of the secondary when Jimmy Smith plays or not was a huge issue. The team failed to generate a consistent pass rush, something that has been said since Dum and Suggs had their awesome tandem year. The team did generate more turnovers though, a lot more, which is something that was highly emphasized.
The Special Teams unit were not really all that special. Koch is a very good angular punter and Tucker is one of the best kickers ever to play the game. The coverage units were pretty decent this year. The return game has been an issue since Jacoby Jones left.
So, if this is what Harbaugh wants, let him have it. It will be his job to lose if the same results happen. Maybe he proves us all wrong, but I for one am not really excited about our team going into the off season as I was coming back from the injury marred 2015 season. This team should have been so much better.
Defensive stats are meaningless if your defense does great in quarters 1-3, but can't hold a lead in the 4th, and this describes the Ravens 2016 defense.
While I think changes are needed, I'm not sure what those changes are at the staff level. I would have been happy with a new OC and DC, but think about this: IF the Ravens make the playoffs in 2017 all are happy. If they fail to make the playoffs in 2017 I think Harbaugh will be gone. At that point, you either fire the entire staff and bring in a new HC, and let him pick his staff, or you promote a coordinator. Maybe the owner is just giving Harbs one more year to get back to the playoffs.
Lets just write off 2017 as another lost year. No offense, No quarterback, Nothing changing. Thank GOD I don't have season tickets to throw away!!!!
The 2016 Ravens came within inches of being the 3rd seed in the AFC. While I am not happy about "just missing", making major changes because we came up inches short will make us more like Cleveland than New England.
1 hour ago, rmcjacket23 said:1 hour ago, Rav'n Maniac said:The more I think about it, the less I think anything is going to change. I now don't expect Harbs to make any changes to his staff. Harbs likes guys who won't step on his toes and guys who have little chance of getting a HC offer. Plus we have to remember these guys are his friends. No, the only way I see anything changing is if the entire staff is canned.
This post makes no sense on so many levels...
1. No HC in the entire league hires a coach on his staff that thinks he's going to "step on his toes". It would make no sense to do that whatsoever. I would challenge you to name one coach who has hired a coach on his staff thinking or wishing that said coach would "step on his toes".
2. If Harbs doesn't hire guys that he thinks won't be HCs, then why is are a ton of the coaches he's hired either former HCs or coaches who have a legitimate shot of getting another HC gig? How does Gary Kubiak, Marc Trestman, or Leslie Frazier end up on this coaching staff? I mean quite literally all he's done recently is hire OCs who fans criticized as guys that wouldn't be here long term, because they were HC candidates.
I think you are exactly 180 degrees wrong on that comment. I'm not even sure how you can support it with any factual.
3. Of course they are friends. Everybody in the league is "friends". Why do you think the same teams hire the same people over and over again? Why do you think the same coaches get fired 2, 3, 4 times from the same coaching position and end up with a similar gig elsewhere in just a few short years?
Its not difficult. You hire people you know and you hire people you trust. And Harbs isn't even the biggest defender of this, because his last two OCs that he hired didn't even fit that mold.
Way too much truth in the above.
I just want this team to finally rid itself of the WR handicap that's plagued it basically the whole franchise.
AGREE! Need two or three things;
(1) better routes,
(2) better playcalling, and
(3) a receiver who will ATTACK THE BALL rather than wait for it to get to him. I noticed this as a sharp contrast to receivers on Payton Manning's teams and the Ravens. Manning's receivers always attacked the ball, getting to it before the defender.
its not our receivers, its the stupid routes they run and they way they are taught to run them. Put that on the coaches, not the receivers. It would also help if we had a QB that could hit in them in stride instead of underthrowing, over throwing or hanging the ball in the air for so long.
Concur regarding "stupid" routes. Also wonder why we tried so few deep balls to Perriman - he has speed, why not use it? (recall that Torey Smith's primary attribute was getting PI calls...)
Some are saying we should try to bring Kubiack back as an OC, or a consultant. HOWEVER;
(1) I'm sure Denver would be willing to offer him something similar,
(2) He's currently under contract with Denver, and
(3) He has more ties to Denver than Baltimore.
there has to be more changes to the coaching staff. Why are the Ravens so enamored with Pees. The secondary coach didn't change the pitiful secondary. There are many player who have to be let go.
They are enamored by him cuz we had the #1-#5 defense thru out the year. Our secondary was much better than last years. Our biggest problem was our pass rush. Not so much the players but the way it was set up. We kept getting in each others way.
Exactly our problem since Pees got here has been scheme. He wants 11 Pro Bowlers. That just don't happen and Pees needs to stop making excuses.
We have CJ who made the Pro Bowl
Weddle who should have (and will probably be a late addition)
Brandon Williams (who may be the best at his position)
M Pierce.. (who played at a very high level this year
TJernigan (who also deserved pro bowl consideration.
Z. Orr... who played as well as any ILB this year including CJ
Jimmy Smith... who is a top 5 CB when healthy
Suggs....who still remained dangerous.
That is 8 of our 11 defense starters... who played at or close to pro bowl level this year
In addition he has
Elvis... who was not healthy but when he is... he is a dangerous pass rusher.
Judon....who showed a lot of promise.
Tavon Young... who was very impressive as a rookie and could be on the list above.
B Urban... who played very well in spots
L Guy who saw his numbers decrease bc of how good MPierce played but Guy is solid.
(in my opinion the only players on Defense who struggled consistently was LWebb, SWright, Elam, Powers, Elvis, and McClellan)
You can match that up with Seattle, Arizona, or any of the top Defenses around the league and person for person we are more talented and deeper then most. Yet we cannot depend on our Defense to close any team out since Pees got here / and no lead is safe in the 4th quarter. NONE! (you can not have 11 pro bowlers... but that seems to be what dean pees is asking for to be successful)! SMH
Have to disagree on a few:
Brandon Williams, I don't think he's really that good. Say him (along with Suggs) sleepwalking on a lot of plays against Pittsburgh, and won't even mention the last game. Our defense showed it can't stop the run too many times this year, and that starts with the inner defensive line (Williams).
Jernigen? Seems more potential than action.
Webb? I thought he seemed to play better as the season went on, and was by far one of the better secondary players the last three games.

Having a hard time "picturing" the corner screens in my mind. I kind-of like the current openness that was designed in the the stadium; these boards will probably totally block that aspect.
