  1. Couldn't disagree with this pick more. Apparently the Ravens are the only folks who had Stanley rated higher than Buckner. Deforest Buckner was perfect fit for this defense. Starting in 2009 with the move up to grab Oher, our drafts have not been good. In 2010 we allowed Dallas to steal Dez Bryant from us and then we drafted Sergio Kindle after allowing New England to steal Gronk. Matt Elam, Arthur Brown, Breshad Perriman, et al...our drafts have been weak. We needed a play maker drafting at #6 and we draft a soft OT who doesn't run block. Sounds like we just got a Monroe clone. We should have picked Buckner and it should have been an easy pick. Count me out of the "In Ozzie we trust" club. I seriously question the judgement of Ozzie, Eric DeCosta, Joe Ortiz and their staffs. This team is mediocre and that is their responsibility.

Remember Harbaugh is on the draft selection along with Ozzie, Eric, and Joe. Since the SuperBowl and Ray Lewis retirement the team has been on a clean image cleanse so the rowdy, tough, mean players are no longer on our board, guys like Burfict would have been a Raven before Harbaugh won the SuperBowl.

Time will tell, but we are not the same trying to go this Mr Clean route.

  2. The Ravens will not get far without a quality LT and they have proven they can find quality pass rushers out of the first round. The four best non QB players: Bosa, Ramsey, Stanley, Buckner went right away, really surprised Dallas took Elliott, but that tells me they really wanted Bosa first.

    It was a good pick.

  3. Incorrect about two things. St Louis, Cincy, and Pittsburgh have winning records. Second and more important, a 1-6 team has made the playoffs:

In the Super Bowl Era, only ONE team has started 1-5 and made the playoffs; in fact, they started 1-6. The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals won their Division and went on to the AFC Playoffs. They were shutout in that Playoff game by the BALTIMORE Colts, 17-0.

  4. Here an objective view of the Ravens ailments:

Best team in the NFL at the draft since 2010:

    1. Seahawks GM: John Schneider

Average position of 1st pick: 30.6

    Total picks: 48

    Pro Bowlers: 7

Best Pick: CB Richard Sherman %u2014 2011 5th round

    Worst Pick: G John Moffitt %u2014 2011 3rd round

Seattle is the gold standard for drafting in the NFL right now. The 2010 draft netted Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Russell Okung and Golden Tate, laying the foundation for their 2013 Super Bowl team. Chancellor and Sherman were 5th-round picks, and they landed QB Russell Wilson in the 3rd round.

On the same list is the Ravens at number 25

    25. Ravens GM: Ozzie Newsome

Average position of 1st pick: 30.8

    Total Picks: 42

    Pro Bowlers: 1

    Best Pick: LB C.J. Mosley %u2014 2014 1st round

Worst Pick: LB Sergio Kindle %u2014 2010 2nd round

Newsome is seen as one of the best drafters in the NFL, but Baltimore has very little to show for its past five drafts. Drafting late has hurt them, plus they did not have 1st-round picks twice.

  5. This is going to be a tough game. Marvin Lewis knows how to get at Flacco and how to limit his receivers. We win if someone has a breakout - Maxx Williams, Aiken or Brown because I expect Forsett, SSS, and Gilmore to be smothered.

Defense will need to be perfect and a victory will require a 2-0 advantage in turnovers.

I think if we win some future leaders may be defined. If we lose than the hot seat for both players and assistant coaches will be in play.

  6. Although we are favored by 1 1/2 over Cinci, Marvin Lewis, like Jack Del Rio is a cagey guy who comes prepared. Cincy defense will press Steve Smith with cover 2. Gilmore and Aiken will need to deliver.

Home field should be enough, Webb better play like its about over for him, I think finally, Harbaugh has had enough of his games. Same goes for Pees poor defensive alignments. Harbaugh lets people dig their own holes and those two have dug deep.

  7. I think history is fairly clear with coaching expectations. Losing four in a row is a hot seat and that is a risk right now. Cost Brian Billick in 2007, remember when he lost to the winless Miami Dolphins, and Billick was on a new five year deal. Cost Cam Cameron in 2012 when the Ravens dumped four in a row after a 9-2 start. Others were on the seat too, I believe Flacco, Caldwell, and Boldin were all at risk, Boldin proved to not survive.

So starting this year 0-2 is hot seat. Harbaugh having his players study film on the plane, yea, there is some coaching hot seat for Pees. 0-4 and I believe Pee's is gone right after the game like it was for Cam Cameron. The fact that Harbaugh is mad may force Pees out at year end anyway, no matter what. Ladarius Webb is likely gone as well.

  8. In order to secure home playoff games this is a concern. Who do you start against Manning? It wasn't that long ago the Ravens were trying to use Dominique Foxworth, Fabian Washington, and Frank Walker, and this unknown rookie named Webb emerged to settle down one of the corner slots.

Time for Melvin or another to step up and take this position over, NFL means Not For Long, Webb's body has been saying such for a while now.

  9. The Ravens make good decisions with guys like Elam and Brown. Think Paul Kruger, he didnt see the field his first two years, same kind of lackluster adjustment to the NFL and then he came on. I believe Harbaugh or Ozzie said, Paul decided finally to be a football player.

On the other hand there are high picks like Terrence Cody who showed good first years and then disappeared. That could be Elam? Could Brown be Kruger?

Nevertheless the Ravens are competitive by not giving up and finding guys like Mosely, Brandon Williams and Jernigan.
