If this FO keeps 5 TE's, when none of them are very good, and we continue to field garbage at WR, their judgement and jobs need to come into question.

And what does that mean? Jefferson was on Arizonas team last year right? Neither party stated a year they were discussing. A poster stated that Arizona is pathetic at rushing the passer. That is clearly false.
6 hours ago, trevorsteadman said:What pass rush does the Cardinals have???? LOL They were one of the worst teams at getting to the quarterback why do you think they traded for Chandler Jones and it is still pretty pathetic.
If you are going to throw out outlandish claims, please do your research first.
So you stated that Arizona was one of the worst teams in the league at getting to the QB. I instantly knew that was false because they had Golden and Chandler with double digit sacks.
So I looked it up. They led the league in sacks. I'm not sure how you could be more wrong with your statement.

Not only that, but how often do you see top pass rushers lined up on the center? Oh right, you don't.
If you are letting up sacks from up the middle, there was either a confusion on a blitz pickup or someone royally screwed up. 3.5 sacks allowed from a C is way too much.
With the two big contracts we have put, I don't see how we could have the money to sign someone like Pryor. We still need to leave $6 million or around there for the draft.
Im sure we will be in play for a couple guys that come in around a couple million in cap hits but there's no way we have the money for another $10+ deal.
I was most certainly one of wanting to keep BW. But given the choice between the two, I would have chose to keep Wagner.
My thoughts behind losing BW was that we'd also lose Guy and that would be horrible to our run defense. I would have liked to see him signed for $7-8 million a year. $11 million was just a pure shock. I'm glad that he is back with the Ravens, but like others have said, I can't agree with that salary.
25 minutes ago, The Raven said:Kinda makes me think the FO thinks the roster is viable for a legitimate run. I don't think you throw $10/year at your NT and $9M/year at a FA safety unless you're trying to win now.
It hurts to say, but I think some of these coaches are closer to losing their jobs than the team is to winning a championship.

To add to this, hasn't Webb already taken a pay cut? He was rated the 14th best safety last year and is probably our only pure coverage S. People are just assuming that he is going to take ANOTHER pay cut.
Wow. What a blow to the run game and already shakey O line.

RB Kenneth DIxon has been suspended for the first four games of 2017 for violating league's policy on PEDs
Wowow
Pryor visiting the Redskins who have no WR's. There's no way we could outspend them. Would actually be a great fit for him.
Alshon to the Eagles
Jeffersons deal is 4 years for $36 million. That's a hefty chunk of change. What in the hell were the Browns offering him if we got him at $9 million per?!

Not saying Jefferson is a speedster by any regards but I was digging for actual instances that it was a problem in his career. His 40 time just shows us that he won't be the closing leg of the office relay team.
Yeah, I'm just going to end the argument at comparing Tony Jefferson to Ed Reed.
Its a matter of opinions anyways.
Just now, BmoreBird22 said:The combine is probably one of the worst things to go off of.
I agree in most cases. But I don't know how you can argue against a 40 and a guys top end speed. It's pretty cut and dry.
All I am saying is that Weddle is the preferred center fielder now in this current S group we have. It's not a knock on Jefferson.
Id much rather have Weddle back their guarding AJ Green or a M Bryant.
10 minutes ago, berad said:What makes you think he is that slow? His 4 year old 40 time?
Do you have any game clips where it is an issue?
4.64 forty is all that I need to show that he is a pretty slow safety comparatively in the NFL to other S's. I never brought up about his game film. I'm sure the Ravens FO know that and know he is better suited as a in the box S.
Edit: Someone posted earlier that his 40 was a 4.75. He actually ran an official 4.64

Because if you have a substance abuse to something, you are susceptible to acquire substance abuses in something else. They are looking to help you get better, not push away the weed so that you can become an alcoholic instead.
It doesn't matter what is in the stipulations of what you can and can't do while on probation. What matters is that it's in there as a rule and this guy can't keep clean for his family and potentially $10's of millions of dollars. He's one screw up away from being completely done in the NFL.
9 minutes ago, trevorsteadman said:Proves Ravens want their defense to be intimidating again. Also teams aren't designating SS and FS as much as they used to today. Both can do both pretty well. Which leaves offenses to question which one is going where.
Teams can not label S an SS or FS but at the end of the day, one of these guys have to be able to cover center field. Jefferson is pretty slow for a S. That's why Arizona used him almost strictly as a SS.
Weddle is going to have to take over Webbs role of the more coverage S. Will it work out? We won't know until the product is on the field.
32 minutes ago, trevorsteadman said:I like the signing as long as he is healthy. I bet he was signed cheap as well. One thing that scares me is the Ravens never got the chance to sign a veteran posession wideout. I was pulling for Britt after the Garcon and Marshall signings, but he is going to be a Brown.
Makes me wonder if Josh Gordon would be a cheap option to try out when reinstated. He is a moron but he isn't a thug as far as I know. He got caught for weed and got suspended, then during his probation he got caught with alcohol. Thats what my buddy said at least... If you could keep him clean even though hes been out of football for awhile, he might be an okay pick up.
There's no way the Ravens are going to take a chance on a headcase like Gordon after the whole Ray Rice fiasco from a couple years ago.
I'd like to see us take a run at Bouye, Ryan or Fitzpatrick. All should command a lot less than Gilmore did and they all played better than him last year. Bouye and Logan are actually very good and shouldn't be too expensive.
Just now, usmccharles said:Ever hear of coverage sacks? Im not saying we don't need a pass-rusher, but they feed off eachother
If you want to rely on coverage sacks for the whole year, then so be it. I'd rather not. The Fire Pees threads would start after week 1 because we decided to go into the season with an aging vet on his last leg and basically a bunch of no names.
OLB is the biggest need on this team. It doesn't matter if we have 4 All Pros in the secondary. They can't cover guys for 5-7 seconds on every pass play. It's impossible.
Flacco already checks down way too much. I just don't like the signing of Woodhead at all. We need to find a reliable target that can push for first downs. Just my opinion.
I will make a judgement on this signing when I see how much we are giving him. He has good stats. Just worried that he plays in the worse offensive division in the whole league. No one has a formidable passing attack there.

Jefferson has only started for 2 years. So in those two years they have been average one year and top of the league in the other. That's a pretty good pass rush if you ask me.
And I wasn't commenting on Jeffersons lack of coverage skills to begin with. I was simply replying to the poster that said they have a horrible/pathetic pass rush. The stats prove other wise. If theirs is pathetic, I don't even want to hear the words used to describe ours last year.
