  1. This is why the judicial system is very wary to intervene on arbitration rulings when it comes to CBA's. In most cases, well other than the NFL who ALWAYS seem to lose these, the standards of the individual or party are clearly defined in the CBA. With the past couple issues regarding the NFL, the rules surrounding the said issue, and the punishment to go along with, are so vague that it almost guarantees the leading to federal court. In this case it happened again, the judicial system isn't there to say whether he did it or not. It is there to make sure that the appropriate punishment has been given out and if the issue violates the CBA that was agreed upon by both parties. If the language is vague, then they are there to interpret that language and make a decision. Obviously, Godell can't just give out punishments just to give them. He would be forced out of the league by the committee so quickly his head would spin. There are items in place to where he isn't the all being power.
  2. To each their own, I guess. I just think that there are so many more factors that can play into points for and against from year to year. I.e injuries, new quarterback, losses in free agency
  3. Yeah, I am pretty sure the part you quoted specifically has me stating what you wrote. Reading comprehension is a valid skill. What I said, it's completely dumb to base a teams performance from year to year on their points for and against in the previous year.
  4. Although he picked the Ravens to win the North, that may have been the dumbest article I have ever read. I actually stopped half way through. Did he really base how teams would be on the point for and against the team from last year. I didn't understand how they came to figure out how they decided the wins from that either. It was just the dumbest argument I have ever seen to translate last success to future success.
  5. The preseason where starting QB's and WR's play about 20 snaps outside of game 3? A preseason PFF grade in the preseason may be the most pointless thing in the world. Scouts have said that he is not good in man coverage and is average in the zone.
  6. Torrey had 34 TD's in four years. That's more than most teams number 1's and he wasn't even considered our number 1 for all his years except last year. He was also a number 2. He'll even last year some would consider Steve Smith our number 1.
  7. I have seen multiple reports, almost daily, of him getting beat. Although, he could be doing good besides those. Beat reporters tend to only tweet about the significant plays at camp I.e. Touchdowns, picks, big hits etc.. He has been on the losing side of touchdowns in the ones I have read far too often.
  8. I just don't understand what the reasoning would be to the Ravens keeping 7 WR's. I understand most of you want to keep the guys that are at the flashy positions. But what's the point? This is why these coaches and player personnel guys have jobs. Because they can see past what the fans want and know how to build a team. Do you guys really want to sacrifice one of DL or OL depth? One or two injuries happen to either one and we are royally screwed. It is so much easier to replace a WR over them. Secondly, what is the point to keeping 7 WR's? Now I am talking about on our 53 man roster, not on IR or the practice squad. The Ravens most of the time run two WR sets and on third down will run 3 WR, 1 RB and 1 TE. They never run 4 WR. So that means your best 3 WR set is on the field at that point. Do we really need 4 WR's standing on the sideline? Or even 3 for that matter? 7 WR's is just too much to keep without taking a serious hit at another position. At the end of the day, I believe they will do the right thing. That would be to keep 6, IR 1 or practice squad 1. Then on game days, they will dress 5 guys.
  9. According to PFF and whatever bizarre way they get to ranking their cornerbacks, Boykin was the 6th best CB last year. Philly didn't want him out because he wasn't good at it. They didn't put him out there because they have some insane notion that just because you aren't 6'2 and can play press man that you aren't a solid CB.Arrington was rated the 3rd easiest CB to throw on, in terms of fantasy production. He was only behind Ike Taylor (he was abysmal last year) and Sheerece Wright from SD. I talked about this in another thread, that rating just goes to show how bad Arrington is when having to line up outside. I couldn't find any numbers of his production solely in the slot. Taking my purple shades off, Boykin is a superior talent than Arrington.
  10. In actuality, he is technically our third CB. There should be another classification for guys like Arrington. If Smith or Webb go down, he is the next man up on the outside. Arrington is not an outside corner and when his former teams played him out there is when he was downright terrible. He's strictly an inside CB. If it comes to the point to where Arrigton needs to move outside, we could be in trouble again.
  11. Webb left practice with a hamstring. Jimmy has never played a full season and it certainly doesn't look like Webb will again either. Really hope our back up CB's learned from last year because odds certainly are on them playing/starting a couple games this year.
  12. It already would have been a need, but now, OLB and WR are at the top of the list for needs next year.
  13. Bruce Gradkowski is their backup.
  14. Haha I know why it's happening but when our guys have some struggles in the preseason I know this board will self destruct. Guys have to remember that it's their first game and you can bet that the jitters are high. I don't want to read people jumping to conclusions off of one preseason game. Not jumping on you, just getting ready for the doom and gloom that most of this board will portray on Thursday.
  15. Man, some of you guys are rough. I hope when our rookies undoubtedly have their struggles in their first game that you don't throw them under the bus as quickly.
  16. Although it's the Steelers, can't say how excited I am that football is back!!
  17. Sammie Coates just blew past Trae Waynes. Still a couple good match ups going on.
  18. Must have missed that. Sorry, I'm flipping back and fourth. Can't really watch preseason games until the third week. I seem to get bored very easily.
  19. Yeah they are. I haven't seen Boykin, Harrison and both S were stated as not dressing. Other than that, Gay, Timmons, Shazier, Thomas etc. all played/are playing.
  20. I don't see any offensive starters playing for the Steelers. On the flip side, Vikings playing their starting O except for AP (most of their line seems to be there).
  21. You can see what the Steelers Invisioned Shazier to be when they drafted him so high. He looks like he gets shot out of a cannon. Insane upside if he can stay healthy.
  22. It was a dumb trade to begin with. Safe to say they deserve it to happen. To clarify, I don't mean that the young man deserved to get injuried. You never want to see that. Their organization though deserves the repercussions.
  23. I would not be surprised if Urshel turned out to be one of the guys that hangs it up, if concussions become a serious problem.
  24. I'm sorry, but why in the hell do you have to leave practice due to getting poked in the eye?!
  25. Yikes. I hope that the Chris Cook tryout is not because they believe Arrigtons injury is a major one. That would be a huge blow this early in the season.
