  1. I don't see Desmond King lasting until our 3rd rounder. Especially with how the game is played now a days. His starting point will start in the mid to late 2nd and will probably be gone by the end of the second. I have no doubt that if he lasts until the GB-PITT-ATL-NE corridor in the late second, he would not make it past them all.
  2. I know we are full at TE and won't take these two in any scenario, but I'm pounding the table for Howard and Njoku. Howard will be one of the best TE's in 2 years and Njoku, alrhough extremely young, is going to be an athletic freak at the position and make an offense go.
  3. After our next signing, we are about done. Last I read is that we only have $6.5 million in cap. We need about $5 million for our rookie contracts. So we basically have none to sign other guys at this time. I think it is coming down to signing Webb or Mangold at this point. Looks like we are trying to stack the secondary while taking a blow to other areas on the field.
  4. Williams just doesn't have the skill set to be an every down player at the moment. May be he can develope pass rushing skills as time goes on, but he shouldn't be out there in 3rd and long situations because he doesn't provide pressure. Pierce has a chance to learn and may be evolve into what we hoped Jernigan would turn out to be. But now, as our only inside threat, he will probably now see the G/C double team. He will have to learn to evolve his pass rushing skills now that he won't be 1 on 1
  5. The problem is that Mangold is on his last leg in his career and comes with injury concerns. Respectively, we probably won't get much of a boost from a healthy Zuttah to what Mangold will offer.
  6. Thank you. Some people don't understand that.
  7. Why put a young player on the shelf all season if he's not hurt? Especially if he had any chance to play or help the team out? It boils down to the coaching staff knowing he wasn't even in the plans to help the team out.
  8. Well let me know when Carl Davis does that. Because he hasn't. He was actually put on the IR because the coaching staff wanted to stash him away because he wasn't ready.
  9. The above is my initial post in regards to posters saying I didn't know he was on the IR. Where exactly does it say that I was talking about last year? Or are we just going to rush to judgment because a couple posters are upset? When in actuality, exactly what I said is what happened in 2015 to him. I guess I just couldn't have forgotten to type 2015? Yeah, you fools are right. My bad.
  10. If I knew I was going to ruin your day by saying Carl Davis is not good, I wouldn't have even brought it up. I'm sorry.
  11. See my post above. I did know he was on the IR. I was talking about 2015 where he disappeared and did nothing.
  12. Davis was out on the IR last year after hurting his ankle in the final preseason game. It was not season ending but they still decided to put him on the IR anyways. If that doesn't speak to how he is viewed by the coaching staff, then I don't know what is.
  13. Reading comprehension my friend. It works wonders. You wouldn't of had to type so many responses.
  14. Do I even know where I am right now? That makes zero sense to the context of the conversation we are having. Once again, some of you guys need some reading comprehension on this board. My initial post was that Davis lacks a motor and has no way shown that he is capable of being an NFL starter at this point. But of course you jump down my throat because it doesn't jive with your purple shades. This dude has 11 total tackles and 0 sacks. I don't know how an argument can be made for him that he's going to come in and contribute (you know, the main point of this conversation). Davis also came in as very old rookie. He is already 25 years old and a year older than Jernigan. So the age of comparing Jernigan and Davis shouldn't even be in an argument.
  15. Look at the PFF grades. Jernigan was rated far and away better than David the year we went 5-11. Whether he was a rookie or not. Jernigan is the far better player compared to Davis.
  16. What about in 2015? When he played well against the Broncos and disappeared the rest of the year?
  17. Why are you not allowed to evaluate a guy based off of the 5-11 season? Does that somehow allow him a pass because the rest of the team wasn't very good? You sound foolish if you actually believe these coaches gave everyone on this team a free pass because they weren't very good.
  18. I'd like to hear what games you watched that Davis gave us an indication that he'd be a good NFL player? His lack of effort is maddening and he was even more so ineffective than Jernigan before going on the IR. He's more of a bust than an NFL ready starting DT.
  19. Moving up 25 spots just to create another hole on the team just seems dumb to me. People will say that we have guys to fill the position but absolutely none of them are proven. So we will need to draft another DE/DT. We also lose another pass rusher. We may have the worst set of pass rushers in the league and that was before this move. OLB and an inside pass rusher need to be high picks this draft.
  20. I don't want to hear anyone mention Jernigan as inconsistent and then try to say Carl Davis can replace him. It's just stupid. Davis is worse than Jernigan at disappearing. He managed to do it for the whole year outside of the preseason and a game or two early.
  21. You are playing the what if game with Jernigan. Theres also no guaruntee that moving up 25 spots will get us a great, good or even average player. They could be a complete bust. You also have no clue what other teams will draft like. We could move up 25 spots to see all of the guys at our positions of need taken before that pick.
  22. I can't even name a single person on our roster that has a 25% chance of getting double digit sacks.
  23. I don't know how we can do anything but take the best pass rusher available now, in the first round. We basically have 0 pass rush to speak of. We could honestly have the worst set of pass rushers in the league. If we wait until the second round and take a project, our defense could take a major hit.
  24. Above average sometimes to below average other times is 100x better than guys sitting on the bench with injuries providing nothing at all to the team. Jernigan is also 24 years old. His best years are ahead of him. Not behind him.
  25. Also, another talking point that no one is bringing up, who in the hell is going to rush the passer this year?? We very well could be league worst in sacks this year. I don't need to sit here and explain how horrible that will be to our D/Secondary
