  1. Speaking of Travolta, From Paris with love was a lot better than it looked.

    Off topic: Luc Besson is one of my favorite directors along with Danny Boyle and the Cohens. I think people overrate Nolan, he's too clinical sometimes with his characterisation.

    Agreed about "From Paris with Love"... rented it on a whim (Redbox) and it turned out pretty decent.

    I haven't seen a movie from Nolan that I didn't like... Boyle is excellent too.

  2. I liked his performance but started to dislike the film after a couple of extra viewings. The pacing was inconsistent and the final act was a complete cop-out (no pun intended).

    In terms of villains, though, I don't think he'll top his performance in Training Day. Granted, he hasn't played many villains, but I'm not sure how he can ever reach that level of intensity and moral ambiguity again. Sure, the crooked cop bit has been done to death, but Denzel took it to another level by making his twisted morality rise to the surface in his explanations of his actions to Ethan Hawke's character. You can never underestimate an actor that knows how to focus his intensity in such a way that it burns through the lens slowly and silently before exploding in an act of random violence.

    Couldn't agree more.

    Did you see Unstoppable?

  3. Now there is a good movie. So suspenseful. Throw in Walken and you have a winner. That movie is so underrated.

    Russell Crowe I can't stand. Any movie he is in, ruins the movie for me. He just looks like he is going to throw up on my shoe every moment.

    Really? So you didn't like Gladiator? What about A Beautiful Mind?

  4. Watched Inception yesterday. Fantastic flick. Leo knows how to pick them, like Depp does.

    Johnny Depp is the best actor of our generation, BTW. I will hear no contradictory statements. -_-

    Leo was money in Shutter Island too... I don't want to see him in another romance.

  5. If you were a regular viewer and had been following the story, you'd somewhat understand the necessity of the near-falls. Basically, in terms of ring psychology, the crowd has to believe that both men are equal in ability, but that Morrison is a credible threat to the title in his first big opportunity, while Miz is also a beatable champion. The story being told in the ring was that of a persistent challenger against a desperate champion, and the results were near perfection.

    The larger overarching goal was to signal to the audience that 2011 is the year that the youth movement will be in full effect. I believe it's succeeded thus far, even though we're only a week into the year and there's many more shows to go.

    I get that, but you have to admit that Morrison recovering from his Starship Pain through the table was a bit unbelievable/ridiculous

  6. HUGE BREAKING NEWS: TNA World Champion Jeff Hardy will plead GUILTY to the drug charges against him when he goes back to court Jan 20th.

    Hardy was hit with a long list of charges – including:

    * Conspiracy to traffic in Opium

    * Trafficking in Opium by possession

    * 2 counts of possession with intent to distribute

    * Felony possession of cocaine

    * Felony maintaining a controlled substance in a vehicle/dwelling/place

    * Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

    Well this isn't going to be the way TNA expected to start off 2011. If he is going to plead Guilty and with Genesis coming up on Jan 9th, I wonder if TNA will take the title off of him at Genesis to prepare for his court case.

    I used to love The Hardy Boyz... this is a real shame.

  7. The sexual innuendo has been toned down significantly, although the divas occasionally continue to wrestle in some risque outfits, but nothing too bad by today's broadcast standards. For awhile, there was a shift towards restoring legitimacy to the women's division by bringing in talent that could actually wrestle, but that died when Trish Stratus and Lita retired. Trish went from being just another pretty face to arguably the best women's wrestler in the history of the business; she was that improved and became the model (no pun intended) for what all women's wrestlers have since aspired to be. The ones that are told to learn to wrestle, anyway.

    It's very much catered towards a more family atmosphere. The women still have some revealing outfits, but the King no longer drools over "puppies", and the vulgarity of it all has decreased a lot. There's a few innuendos here and there, but they're few and far between. Plus, children most likely wouldn't understand them. Even the language has been toned down, very few cuss words are spoken, aside from the minor hell and damn.

    That's good to hear. Trish was definitely my favorite; it's a shame she's retired :(

  8. If they did lose it, I don't think they're too concerned. With the current direction of the WWE, they have a massive fanbase of pretty much all ages with their "family-friendly appeal". You have the older crowd who grew up watching the likes of the Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, and Bret Hart, the young adult crowd who grew up watching Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, and The Rock, and that love for the industry is being instilled in the kids of those two crowds. So that's essentially three demographics that the WWE can draw upon. Sure, they don't always have the most stimulating angles (i.e. anything with Cena) for most adults, but there's something for everyone... if they at least enjoy the industry to begin with.

    When I was watching, the WWE was very risque, especially with Val Venus, Trish Stratus as well as the rest of the Divas. Have they toned that part of it down or are "the puppies" still in full swing?
