  1. I'm all for one of these guys at #6: Ramsey Bosa Buckner Jack If even 1 QB is taken and Tunsil goes early then one of these guys is a Raven If a QB is not taken ahead of us that could mean trouble and a trade down. Notice I avoided the OT position? Because I would rather select Jason Spriggs with our 2nd rounder, he fits the zone scheme perfectly. Follow that up with Sterling Shepard and this draft is a resounding success. There is also options at corner later in the draft: 2nd 3rd round options: Kendal Fuller Jalen Mills Xavien Howard William Jackson III Artie Burns 4th and later options: James Bradbury Harlan Miller Deiondre' Hall Eric Murray Cyrus Jones
  2. 6: R1P6 OT RONNIE STANLEY NOTRE DAME 36: R2P5 CB WILLIAM JACKSON III HOUSTON 70: R3P7 OLB JAYLON SMITH NOTRE DAME 105: R4P6 WR RASHARD HIGGINS COLORADO STATE 131: R4P32 C GRAHAM GLASGOW MICHIGAN 134: R4P35 CB CYRUS JONES ALABAMA 135: R4P36 DE BRONSON KAUFUSI BRIGHAM YOUNG 178: R5P39 ILB JOSH FORREST KENTUCKY 185: R6P7 OT WILLIE BEAVERS WESTERN MICHIGAN Started with the Boring OT pick at 6. Don't like the way I feel as though behind teh eight ball after that the rest of the draft. Definitely think that taking an OT that early is not a good idea. I then took a stab at a falling Jaylon Smith in the 3rd.....Coulda selected Sterling Sharp there....Not overly excited about Rashard Higgins in the 4th who feels like a newer version of (David Reed.Tandon Doss). I would of liked a DT in the 4th But Chris Jones/Maliek Collins/Adam Gotsis (kinda fixated on those 3) were all gone in the 3rd after the injured Jaylon Smith was selected. So what did we learn here? Don't fall into the OT early trap, and Jaylon Smith is probably a better choice for a different team willing to wait a year or more...
  3. Still it is: Deforest Buckner Jason Spriggs
  4. Jason Spriggs is a much better fit for the Ravens.
  5. Yuk, I'm hoping beyond all hope K.O. stays.....
  6. I want to reiterate that this discussion could be moot. In that the possibility of the Ravens trading down from 6 is low, and picking Spence at 6 is also Low, while picking Sith at 6 is a "never gonna happen". I prefer the Ravens pick at 6 and get a bonafide star, If one of the two discussed here are available in Round 2 then consider it.
  7. When this thread started I was 100% on the Treadwell bandwagon, but after getting good intel on the defensive players (I don't watch much NCAA football) I've really come around on the Ramsey, Jack, Bosa, Buckner, and Spence picks. There are 5 guys there and before the ravens pick I expect 1 QB to be taken (Browns), and 1 OT (Tunsil). That leaves 2 of these 5 guys available in my opinion at worst. Really looking forward to the draft.
  8. Any possibility the nerve damage report on Jaylen Smith is solely based on an observation by a person not actualy doing medical exams on Jaylen Smith? For example: This quote from PFT article (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/02/26/report-teams-think-jaylon-smith-will-miss-2016-season/) A strangely worded sentence there in my opinion. From here the article goes on to mention redshirt year and possibility of chronic issues as well? I believe the 2016 redshirt year stuff, but 2017? Sounds like teams are trying to push him down the draft board. Either way he is looking like a second rounder more and more. I would prefer the healthy player with Ecstasy issues Spence, over the recently Knee "destroyed" Smith even in the 2nd round.
  9. Actually that sounds quite good. A RB that fits the Eddie George mold on this team who wants to be a smash mouth run team? sign me up
  10. What happens when he test positive during the Combine?
  11. I think Spriggs is the best fit for the Ravens Zone scheme. As mentioned by someone else "the Beavers" (Willie Beavers, Western Michigan) is someone that has the tools just needs a little seasoning I'm hoping he is available in 4-5th but that might be wishful thinking. Spencer Drango (often called a guard but played OT) is also an intriguing prospect who has a lot of pass protection experience in Baylor's Spread offense.
  12. instead of signing free agents, lets see if Ozzie can get the cap situation under control? I know it is common for teams to backload contracts but sheesh, try to think ahead a little bit. Seems we are in a situation where we want to cut a guy who is a starter because the money is too much? I am starting to wonder why players even sign such contracts, no one ever sees the end of it. Seems the Ravens are always up on the edge and missing out on some good players. I believe Ozzie with a Top 6 pick is almost guaranteed a great player. and another goodie in round 2.
  13. Any opinions on Trajae Sharpe UMass WR Can catch in traffic and supposedly runs the whole route tree. Also reports that he is humble and coachable. Watching some of the online tape looks good, has speed, but is thin.... Impressed in shrine game and invited to senior bowl, but missed the game with Quad injury Might be a later round WR that Ozzie takes a chance on.
  14. Ouch! Boyle actually looked better than Maxx Williams in flashes last year.
  15. I can't help myself.... Draftek has some new rankings. I like what the Ravens end up with here: 6: R1P6 DE DEFOREST BUCKNER OREGON 36: R2P5 OT JASON SPRIGGS INDIANA 70: R3P7 OLB SCOOBY WRIGHT ARIZONA 105: R4P6 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA 131: R4P32 CB DEIONDRE' HALL NORTHERN IOWA 134: R4P35 G REES ODHIAMBO BOISE ST 135: R4P36 DT CHRIS JONES MISSISSIPPI ST 178: R5P39 CB CYRUS JONES ALABAMA 185: R6P7 TE TYLER HIGBEE WESTERN KENTUCKY
  16. I know I'm in the minority here but.... Most important Free agent: The Kicker is not a must resign.....There is little difference from top 5 to #15 in the Kicker department. Almost any kicker will do. Get one for a better price. The offense must get the team in good field position to make the kicker effective. After all Tucker missed several over 50 yards. meaning he had to attempt an unusually large amount of extra long field goals. His FG percentage has been below 90% the past two seasons. He is not, I repeat NOT a priority. This team needs offensive weapons and OL help more than some over priced kicker.
  17. It's my opinion that Ozzie likes to take a risks with the 2nd rounder. He is willing to take a guy with off field warts or an injury who has talent there. some guys that fit this mold are: Noah Spence, OLB Eastern Kentucky - Well documented Ecstasy issues, and booted out of NCAA big 10. Now rumors he bombed the Senior bowl interviews? Robert Nkemdiche, DL Ole Miss - Marijuana and falling out an hotel balcony..... Jaylon Smith, OLB ND - Depends on if he can work out in the combine.....Taking a guy in the 1st round who you know isn't going to be physically ready is not a good idea. Tyler Boyd, WR Pitt - off field issues
  18. Fan speaks rankings, Kinda like how this one worked out.....But OLB would have to be addressed in FA with this draft. 6: R1P6 DE DEFOREST BUCKNER OREGON 36: R2P5 CB ELI APPLE OHIO STATE 70: R3P7 ILB SCOOBY WRIGHT III ARIZONA 105: R4P6 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA 131: R4P32 CB DEIONDRE' HALL NORTHERN IOWA 134: R4P35 RB JORDAN HOWARD INDIANA 135: R4P36 DT JAVON HARGRAVE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 178: R5P39 OT WILLIE BEAVERS WESTERN MICHIGAN 185: R6P7 G REES ODHIAMBO BOISE STATE Mental note: It seems good to wait on a CB & WR in this simulator Good WR's are available in rounds 3-4, As well as potential CB's in round 4. Doing it again, I'd probably take an OLB in round2, OT fly off the board much sooner than I think is reality. Ideally Jason Spriggs is available round 2. I also would like to see the Ravens pick potential at the OL positions with later picks if Spriggs isn't available (he really is a great fit for a Zone scheme in my opinion).
  19. You beat me to it....And coincidentally the same 1-2 I have in my personal Mock......
  20. here is my draft. Doesn't look terrible.... Defense wins Championships! 6: R1P6 DE DEFOREST BUCKNER OREGON 36: R2P5 S DARIAN THOMPSON BOISE STATE 70: R3P7 OLB KYLER FACKRELL UTAH STATE 105: R4P6 C MAX TUERK SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 131: R4P32 CB XAVIEN HOWARD BAYLOR 134: R4P35 CB CYRUS JONES ALABAMA 135: R4P36 WR KENNY LAWLER CALIFORNIA 178: R5P39 OLB VICTOR OCHI STONY BROOK 185: R6P7 ILB JARED NORRIS UTAH
  21. I'm not a prodigious NCAA watcher but here is my attempts at a mock for the Ravens. Feel free to pick it apart, I've made these assumptions: 1. Bosa, Ramsey, Tunsil are not available, and no trades.... 1b. Noah Spence is not someone Ozzie will target based on off field issues. And will be gone mid 1st anyway. 2. I've gone almost strictly for need (DE, OLB, ILB, OT, CB, WR,) 3. Tried to focus on Playmakers, but not all of the picks are playmakers obviously 1. Deforest Buckner, DE Oregon I think he fits the Wizard of Oz's philosophy. Build from the OL & DL. Will get after the QB, and can play the run Seems a good consolation prize of Bosa is gone 2. Jason Spriggs OT Indiana A good move OT with lateral quickness Fits the zone scheme 4 year starter played well against top competition could fill in day one or as fill in WHEN our current LT goes down with injury 3. Sterling Shepard WR Oklahoma Just like SSS, he is undersized but sturdily built Great routes and hands Can fill the Punt/kick return roles as SSS understudy Has better speed that expected 4a. Deiondre' Hall CB Northern Iowa Big Corner with long arms Did well in Sr. Bowl practices Would like to wait till 4th round but is a current draft board riser might not be there? 4b.Maliek Collins DT Nebraska Another Ozzie style pick DL in the 4th round Good character guy fits the overall goal of the team. no worries for off the field stuff 4c (comp). Yannick Ngakoue OLB(rush) Maryland Local prospect teams might sleep on undersized but good motor as a pass rusher Will he fall this far? was highly productive at Maryland 4d (comp). Josh Perry ILB Ohio St. Called a thumper with great leadership abilities could fall this far based on weakness in the pass Seen wild projections on him as high as 2-3rd round Surrounded by talent at Ohio st. 6. Cyrus Jones CB Alabama Here is the Bama pick Undersized corner but good production 6 (comp). Graham Glasgow C Michigan Versatile Inside lineman played both C and G Brother Harbaugh will have the inside skinny Strong but not overly mobile Had a drinking issue in college, kinda shot in the dark pick 7(comp). Kenny Iloka SS TCU Knee Injured during season who fits late round flyer profile is Big 6'2" and Ozzie is still looking for Safety help There you have it my attempt at a Ravens draft filling needs. Let me know your opinions.
  22. OK I've been seeing some consistent comments about a few players that will likely not be available when I chose (Perry in particular). I replaced Perry with a more likely scenario of Scoobie Wright III....He is projected from rounds 3-4 so at the top of 4 is possible. I still feel Hall could fall to the 4th and left him there. I like Cyrus Jones enough to move him to the 4th as many suggested. Lastly adding Victor Ochi as a flyer late round pick from a small school. Obviously leaving the top 3 alone everyone seemed to like those picks. I'll have to come back to this after the combine and see what gives.
  23. I like Shepard for the Ravens, He can be the punt/kick returner in the short term spelling SSS when needed. And would allows us to part ways with Campanaro who is a walking injury report. Shepard is better than Camp by far even with Camp's pro experience. Miller unfortunately, is an Ohio St. WR, just don't trust them in the pros. Miller looks like a developmental WR that the Ravens don't have time for.
  24. you guys might want to see what LA Rams fans are saying about trading for a QB.... http://www.laramsfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3779 Thing is there is no way they give up both 2nd rounders for the #6 pick. Only QB they really want is Goff, and they need to go up further than 6 for him. Even a specific trade mentioned where the Rams give #15, #45 and Tre Mason...... would you take that?
  25. Fair Points. I suppose you are glad I'm not the GM I have confidence in Ozzie with as many picks as you suggest. However, would you give up two 2nd rounders for the #6 pick and your #15? I suspect the Rams (who under Fisher usually get the better end of a draft trade deal) will not sell the farm to move up from 15. More than likely they would offer their #15, maybe the later 2nd rounder, a later round pick and a future pick (maybe round 2 the following year). A trade with the Rams is more likely to happen between Dallas and the Rams in my opinion. We can dream I definitely hear you, but realistically that haul is not gonna happen to the Ravens.
