  1. Yeah, I blame Netflix lol... and in my defense, Police Academy was released before I was born. I'll get to the other Police Academy movies eventually... didn't realize there were so many.

Well like any multi-movie sequels. The flicks start to get ridiculous.

Police Academy 19 - Debbie gets taken down in Dallas. Starring the kid from the terminator all grown up.

  2. Finally saw Police Academy and Paranormal Activity... I thought both were pretty good.

I'm looking forward to seeing Paranormal Activity 2.

That is so random. Paranormal Activity and POLICE ACADEMY?!? That movie came out in the 80's. How the hell did you let that one slip by.

Now you have to step up your game and watch all of the Police Academies. Get your Steve Guttenberg fill. Speaking of Steve Guttenberg. That movie "High Spirits" he was in was pretty good. Loved it as a kid.

  3. From Scotland in the UK. Been over to Baltimore twice now, Browns game in the '09-'10 season and the home opener in New Jersey this past season. Been a fan since just after the Superbowl when I started following the sport (first football game I saw was the AFCC in Oakland)

We seem to have a good following in the UK. Welcome to the boards.

  4. Watching Face/Off right now. I always loved this movie ever since I first saw it as a kid, but I appreciate it even more now as an adult. This was when John Travolta and Nicholas Cage were still relevant. Tremendous acting and great concept.

That is actually a pretty good movie. I've always loved it too. Never fully understood why. I can't stand John Travolta. Nicholas Cage is hit or miss.

When I think of Cage, I think of Moonstruck.

  5. Jadakiss' song was probably the worst-hyped political song in the history of hip-hop, mainly because he had only two or three insightful lines out of the entire duration of the song. Styles P, Nas, and others have done much, much better in making political songs. But, that's a different topic for a different conversation...

Back to the Denzel vs. Depp debate, it depends on the role. Denzel's roles have traditionally been grounded in contemporary realism, so for those types of roles, I'd give the edge to Denzel. Depp is better-suited for period pieces and fantasy roles. Some of the more mediocre roles that Depp has done have been in movies as average joes or protagonists in contemporary settings like in Nick of Time, Secret Window, and (from what I've heard) The Tourist.

I wouldn't go so far as to proclaim Johnny Depp or Denzel Washington the best actor of our generation just yet, when there've been other actors who have the range to do roles in all periods. I would make an argument that Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, and (to an extent) Brad Pitt have shown range across both realism and fantasy, and have demonstrated as much consistency. Don Cheadle gets an honorable mention, largely because he's done more in supporting roles than some actors do in lead roles.

Now there is a good movie. So suspenseful. Throw in Walken and you have a winner. That movie is so underrated.

Russell Crowe I can't stand. Any movie he is in, ruins the movie for me. He just looks like he is going to throw up on my shoe every moment.

  6. Watched Inception yesterday. Fantastic flick. Leo knows how to pick them, like Depp does.

Johnny Depp is the best actor of our generation, BTW. I will hear no contradictory statements. -_-

I can agree to this. He can play so many roles.

    You're mistaken. It's Denzel Washington.

Denzel is typecasted. Same role, over and over again.

  7. Or be cool. Even when he's cool, he's kinda dorky. He can't not be dorky. I can't help but laugh 'cause he's shorter than me.

This is true. I just got finished watching Days of Thunder the other night, and Tom Cruise is the dorkiest racecar driver ever.

Then tonight I was watching a bit of Paul Newman's 'The color of money'. Not cool again. You're right, he can't do it.

But Tom Cruise in 'Tropic Thunder'. That was cool. I'll give him that.
