  1. I'm on my quest to watch as many horror movies as I can this month. Just finished 'Cabin in the Woods'. I've been waiting until October to watch. Liked it a lot. Can't remember a movie that pulled off the whole gambit of monsters/ghouls/etc since Monster Squad. Another horror movie (comedy) that is on IW which is fun is 'Deadheads'. Its Shaun of the dead reversed (but ofcourse not as great). I love how this movie and Tucker and Dale have come up with new ideas.
  2. Watched Pontypool last night. I highly recommend it. Its on Netflix IW. Its a fresh take (smart) on the zombie genre. It keeps you thinking, something most zombie flicks won't do.
  3. Here's the storyline tag on IMDB for Hesher:
  4. Nope, you'll have to disc it. But I highly recommend it, its a lot of fun. Gordon-Levitt's character is worth it. My favorite role of his. Rocks a 7.1 on IMDB.
  5. Yeah that's his 'real' tattoo in the movie. His character is awesome (crazy insane yet wise). That movie is very underrated.
  6. I'm a fan. If you like Gordon-Levitt, I highly suggest watching 'Hesher'. Also has the lovely Portman as well.
  7. Didn't know you felt that way about Liam Neeson
  8. Shining is the GOAT. If you haven't seen it and you like horror films, smack yourself. Only wish they didn't cast Shelley Duvall. Everytime I see her I think of Popeye the movie.
  9. I watched the Ruins, which was filmed in Mexico, and I never ever want to see real Mexican Ruins in my life. I crossed that off my bucket list.
  10. Devil's Double. Streaming on Neftlix Instant. Great watch. Its a 2011 film about Uday Hussein and his body double. No subtitles they speak with accented English. I've always known Uday was a sick [profanity deleted] but watching it in a film was intense. Dominic Cooper was outstanding. He played both Uday and the double in the movie and he made them seem like very separable people.
  11. Haven't seen that film in a while. Loved the movie but every characters pissed me off. Aykroyd's and Candy's Son were annoying as hell. But that was the purpose (well not the son).
  12. Finally got around to watching the 1928 B&W silent classic 'Faust'. If anybody is interested in the origins of sci-fi/horror this is a great watch. The imagery and special effects for the time are incredible. At times it gives a very haunting atmosphere. It had an unreal budget for the day.
  13. Another older movie that Eugene was in that rang a bell for me is 'Splash' with Tom Hanks. Then it brought me back to my childhood days where I had a crush on the mermaiden version of Darryl Hannah. Why can't mermaids be real?
  14. That was a good movie. But If your going that route, I like Pootie-Tang (everybody else in the world hates it).
  15. I looked it up. Both Goodfellas and Casino were novels written by the same author, Nicholas Pileggi who also assisted in writing the screenplay with Martin S. Both of the novels are classified as non-fiction. Goodfellas is based on the book 'Wiseguys'.
  16. You should. He is there sometimes. It's over in Fells Point and its some good eats.
  17. This is sort of off topic but I learned something at the free practice on Saturday. Josh Charles (currently on 'The Good Wife') is from Baltimore and is a huge Ravens fan. He was actually at the practice on Saturday. I've always liked him, now I like him even more.
  18. Don't know. If they were, they aren't anywhere on the standards of Puzo's books. The majority of movies are based on some novel usually. So it wouldn't surprise me if they were. But the Bronx tale is interesting because it was written by and starred Chazz Palminteri. He actually wrote it as a one-man play based on his own life story. He wouldn't sell the rights unless he could write the screenplay for the movie and play Sonny. But on top of that, Chazz opened up an Italian Restaurant in Baltimore that has some awesome meatballs. haha. The resturant's name? Chazz: A Bronx Original http://www.chazzbronxoriginal.com/
  19. The novels are amazing. Nobody writes about life in New York as an Italian like Puzo. If you like that book you should read "The Fortunate Pilgrim" by Puzo. Puzo credited that novel as the inspiration place for the Godfather.
  20. You do know that watching NFL Network 24/7 is considered watching tv, right?
  21. And you can skip the 3rd Godfather. In fact, never ever watch it. So many better older movies to see first.
  22. Deer Hunter is great. Love anything that Walken is in. King of New York anyone?
  23. I've never been a huge Scorsese fan. The movie of his that I like the best is Gangs of New York. But that might be because Day-Lewis stole the show. Bringing out the dead is underrated as well. But you can't go wrong with Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, or Casino. But to really enjoy those you need to be a De Niro fan as well.
  24. Now that sounds like fun. I got all excited because the article says Ralph Fiennes is joining the cast. But that's an error its actually his brother Joseph Fiennes that is joining the cast. He played in title role on the short-lived Flash Forward.
  25. Fringe has one last shortened season. Begins this Fall w/ a 13 episode season finale. Great show. If you like X-files, this is the modern version. Speaking of X-files I went back and watched the entire collection a few years back. One of the best tv shows of all time. Twin Peaks by far the best. American Horror Story starts in Oct. It'll be interesting to see how they continue since
