lol ok ok you got me trying to put a postive spin on thingsEd "Board Hands" Dickson? smh.
well said .Get out of here with that completely false and misinformed crap. Flacco's cap hit this season is under $7 mil. In fact it is a split hair above his cap hit last season. This is Boldin's last year under contract, so Flacco's deal does not affect this decision in the least. If you want someone to blame, go talk to Ellerbe who is asking more than a guy who has had one good season is worth and pushing the Ravens' backs against the wall because it's a position where we have no depth.
logic has nothing to do with this argument .wait and see if Ozzie says Boldin is cut we will know by tomorrow . if push comes to shove boldin leaves Pitta, smith and dickson (he actually is underutilized he does have very good hands ) will work until our younger guys are ready.and drafting wide recievers who can't catch is another horrible idea . this isn't rocket science other teams in this league draft wide recievers who contribute from day one .cut q but make sure we have someone who can catch and contribute from day one. david reed really four years ......doss two years.......we are in cap hell, Boldin is my favorite player and this whole thing sucks . it seems very simple to me .
well said esp with a fo that is so good at restocking the defense each and every season.I think alot of posters are forgetting the original point of this thread is that all the Boldin rumors that began were in relation to freeing up cap space to sign other players, Ellerbe specifically. That is what I had a problem with, overpaying Ellerbe at the expense of weakening the offense through a possible release of Boldin to save cap money. I've never seen an instance of robbing Peter to pay Paul work out very well. Just sayin'!
i completely forgot this thanks for the link and the reminder."...NEWSOME) “Like Kevin [byrne] said, thanks for your patience. Anquan [boldin] just got back from his physical, we had to get him some food and then he signed this new extension to his contract. I’d like to begin by saying when Anquan came out in the Draft, he was the subject of a lot of discussion in our War Room. And not too many times do you get a chance to recover from a mistake, and I think I made a mistake in that Draft [by] worrying more about measurables than worrying about the football player. And what Anquan is, is a football player. Regardless of how long you’ve been in this league, I think that you become a fan at some point. And any time I’ve had an opportunity to watch ‘Q’ [Anquan Boldin] play – whether on tape or whether during a game – after one of our games on Sundays, I could always enjoy watching him. The way he approached the game and the way he played the game is something I enjoy watching, and now I have the opportunity to watch it, but watch him playing for us here in Baltimore.” not exactly in the words I stated BUT there you go. http://www.baltimore...A0-7A48AF9D6FEB
i didn't see anyone here use that in relation to boldin why i asked .everyone benefits from flacco's skill .we have a good offense .look forward to seeing more in the new year. It's a generalization. It's posted in a lot of other threads. Lots of people using it as an excuse. When in reality, Boldin also benefitted from having an amazing QB play.
doss's rookie season he had double hernia surgery and that takes time to come back from . he hasn't really shown that "he has the best hands on the team " maybe healthy will be a different story . streeter given time i think is going to be a beast .and this year under caldwell i think torrey will have a probowl year some of the catches he made this year were incredible boldin too . but they all benefit from boldin too. i disagree about williams i don't see him doing much and i think thats why he kinda wasn't seen anymore after the preseason.i agree its not enough to see what they can do . I saw Laquan williams in the preseason and thought wow i can't wait to see more of him and then nothing....doss last year same thing then i heard he was hurt but never found out what happened . but anyway boldin is a valuable resource and i can't wait to see our new guys. preferable with boldin.
really good point i am confident it works out . i am anxious to see what streeter and thompson can do this season and preseason is not a large enough sampling i can't wait for the new season to start .i think with having so many young wideouts on the team not proven etc . other then torrey , his leadership is well worth it . i think he will have to take a pay cut whether it be a extension with a nice bonus or resigning him . i don't see ellerbe, williams, kruger in purple next year , we lost ray, maybe reed if they can't get him back . thats allot of veterans i think ozzie knows that.
here's hoping he won't have to play in another uniform . i'm betting he is a raven til retirement. He said "I won't play in another uniform" and would retire if cut.
I'll lose all respect for him if he goes back on his word.
i don't think he is either . i think the front office is smarter then that . allot of this is emotion. and i got caught up too. he is one of my favorites its hard to lose anyone who you are a fan of . boldin will be herewhoa boldin is not going anywhere ....and if he does they will find an alternative . i know we have a bad history of picking wr's/ or of them panning out but torrey did work out and i am optimistic things will work out well now
You are arguing to back out of your obvious error.
redravenfan and i were having a conversation about having a backup plan if we lost boldin . he said that we could have a losing season if we don't have viable options. not once did he say this team was doomed . he said if this team has no option other then torrey and pitta we could have a losing season . the rest of this is out of context. and not right. you can go to a posters profile and look up every single post they have made and he never said that . and i did checki did , i never said this team was doomed i wouldn't say that and i won't take credit for someone else saying it . its silly.
we won't have a losing season . no worriesif he doesn't then we have a losing season
why does everyone insist on picking the worst possible person and use them as an example in an argument . reed i don't know why he is still around but doss was injured double sports hernia his first year . maybe this year is his break out year . wait til tuesday i bet boldin stays.with the wr's we have and if what you and everyone else says is true all wr's have to develop then all we r left with is the run game reed 4 years are u freaking kidding me ? what job do you know where u can have it not do one darn thing and keep it for 5 years ? none of this makes sense.
we won't go back to run first all of this is speculation at this point boldin has denied the whole thing. i don't want him gone either and since i have calmed down i know the fo will not mess up and leave us without options.i disagree with you it is damn near impossible to draft a wr nfl ready and austin will not start day one playing like calvin johnson or welker or "insert name of good wr here....."the speed of the game is different , formations, routes etc.the only point i was trying to make it is fine to say cut boldin but when you look for someone to replaced him there is no one period. doss can't catch, williams he lays on the ground to catch ,,,,,thompson haven't seen him play, streeter 'developing". would it kill ozzie or the front office to actually draft a wr that can catch run routes and get seperation if so then go ahead and cut boldin if not find a way to keep him . no point having a 120 mil dollar qb with a rocket for an arm and go back to a run first team over 2 million dollars. thats not smart
the depth we have behind q and torrey i have no faith in. ozzie will not trade up to get austin . ozzie likes to pay for wr that have no hope of ever catching a ball that matters. i have heard doss has the best hands on the team .....where did he put them , thompson same thing maybe he can but if you can't run a route and stay in bounds does it matter. no . in the end i'm a fan so it doesn't matter . but yes i will still think this idea is horrible . and i refuse to even mention david reed and wr in the same sentence thats a joke. This has been said with jarret johnson, derrick mason, and Jared gaither. Ozzie knows what he is doing. Anquan will only decline from here on out. Why not invest in younger players who will give more production relative to their position like ellerbe, pitta, and author jones.
Stop being prisoners of the moment, and think what if we draft a robert woods or tavon austin to replace and supercede boldins production.
Will this still be the fo's worst decision? I believe drafting boller or our wr busts in the 1st round was worse, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
this whole thread is moot http://www.nfl.com/n...cut-from-ravens he won't take a cut he is going on the market . this is the worst decision the fo has ever made .
agree 100 percent the options are endless i think letting q go is a huge mistake esp when there is so much dead weight on the team . i do understand the older guy goes but at some point if the older guy is your best option that should take priority. point in fact ray lewis .http://www.spotrac.c...ravens/cap-hit/
Here are the Cap hits for the Ravens.
Nothing against Haloti, but instead of cutting Boldin, why don't we try restructuring Ngata's contract? Why don't we save a million by cutting Ayanbedjo or Cody? Michael Oher is getting paid 3.5 million this year, where this draft has the deepest level of offensive tackles. Should we look to move him before he is a free agent next year?
Just food for though, I get that the older guy goes. I do. I just don't see us doing well with out that possession guy and Reed/Doss are not the option.
and you just made my point about why he should stayIf Torrey isn't good at getting separation, then Boldin might as well be running routes in a wheelchair. Boldin gets ZERO separation and the only reason he gets as many catches as he does is because he has outstanding body control, perfect hands, and Joe trusts him.
fair enough instead of saying "on a regular basis" i should have said consistently .eehhhhh I don't know all about that, Lee Evans isn't on our team anymore and most of our guys can catch. Doss had that one really bad game against the Colts, but outside of that most guys can catch.
now things make sense . kruger can go lolWhat the hell are we trying to do? Resign Kruger as well? That statement confuses me.
blah blah move along god what part of agree to disagree don't you get .Im not. Unlike you, I can see more than 1 season ahead.
i would cut leach and a allot more .agree to disagree on ellerbe not sure how else to say it.Id rather cut Leach, but thats about it. Ellerbe didn't ride the bench, you clearly dont pay attention.
and your underestimating the value of a sure handed reciever esp when you have none . agree to disagree . ellerbe in my opinion can be replaced .Boldin is almost never open...that is a problem. You are clearly undervaluing how much Ellerbe meant to our defense last year. He was really our only consistent playmaker out there. I acknowledge the injuries are a concern, but he is young and improving. He is a priority to the FO and I am glad they have more foresight than most fans.
when he wasn't hurt and riding the bench which was allot . nothing to do with sentiment everything to do with need and we need a sure handed reciever who can make plays . there are ways . there are tons of dead weight on this team you know the guys we are waiting to remember we pay them to play football .Ellerbe was probably our defensive MVP last year. He is young and getting better, not a player you let walk to retain an overpaid vet. I' m glad the FO doesnt hire/fire because of sentiment.
