From what i have read james hurst if not injured would have been the 7th best tackle in the draft. He is also according to my bud whos a bit of a guru better then wagner. He said without doubt its the biggest steal out of all the udfa.
Im feeling much better
I am pretty psyched about this guy . I was hoping we would draft him but this is even better . I bet he's our right tackle of the future
Watch Ray Rice get suspended and Pierce get injured.. wheres our talented rookie rb? Oh yeah we dont have one because we decided to reach on a TE who would've been there in the 4th. We've been garbage in this draft since the Brooks pick
we have wood right ?not sure if hes any good but I agree I can't count how many time I have said wth in the past two days
But he did very will in Gary Kubiak's system. He's an option, not the long term solution. Relax lol
I'm actually cool .Been around since the ravens started I am used to Ozzie ignoring the offense and if it takes a rebuilding year or three to get a good offense and defense I'm good with that too. I am not familiar with Winston but I have heard nothing but negative about him that's why I ask we have some good posters here that actually give good insight into players etc . thanks for the info
I was totally fine with Winston as our RT but dont be surprised if Baltimore still goes for OL.
wasn't Winston really horrible in Arizona?
Defense is good and everything but wow we need an offense on the field as well.
Our wide receivers are fine if anything the one offensive need that we disappointingly didn't fix is RB Because we can easily sign a solid vet RT . We have Torrey a good young wr ,marlon brown who lead our team in tds as a undrafted free agent plus Steve smith and Dennis pitta can and will pick up plenty of first downs . RB is what we needed ! Kubiaks whole offense is his run game and when you only have ray rice who's declining and could get suspended plus a fragile non every down back in pierce , we needed a young impact rb from this draft and we were unlucky that the top 6 Sankey , Hyde , Hill , Sims , Mason and West were gone by our comp pick . We also missed out on signing gerhart and leggarrette Blount so were in big trouble at runningback and might now have no other option but to hope and pray pierce can improve and look more so like his rookie self and that ray still has something left in him .
I agree with this the wide receivers are good I think Marlon is going to bypass torrey this year. I think the Browns jumped us because they knew we were going to take west, huge disappointment. I'm not worried running backs can be found in later rounds . I was hoping to get another big bodied red zone target but you can't have it all.
Cameron Fleming Stanford OT, projects to play rt in the nfl. no need to move KO. haven't seen his name mentioned . I really did think this year we would get that top ten offense .
Mosely is a good player but I wanted a playmaker for offense . we have allot invested in the linebacker position already and his injury history is concerning. I can see us entering the season with a need at Fs .Not thrilled with any of the safties left unless we field a clone of Elam .
I think Mosely is a good player but his injury history and the fact we have allot of money invested in the linebacker position already I'm not thrilled we picked him. There are no good safeties left period so that's a need we will continue to have or go with two elam's on the field .
I'm more disappointed that we did not go offense in the first round but the wide receiver class is deep . I'm glad we did not reach for an tackle or guard there are other prospects in later rounds.
I think Pitta is back, personally, but the larger point is this - Pitta was a 4th round draft pick, Jacoby was cut by his former team, Leach was at one point the highest paid fullback in the league, and his snaps on offense have diminished every year as we've been moving away from using a traditional fullback. We keep worrying a lot about what we will do without these players, but overall the front office has never really tried to spend multiple high round draft picks on receivers and tight ends and runningbacks at the same time. Since 2008, we've spent 2 second round picks, 2 third rounders, and a 2 4th rounders on two each of runningback, receiver, tight end. In that span, the Atlanta Falcons, who already had Roddy White, spent 1 third round pick and two first round picks on receivers. The Bengals spent 3 firsts, 2 seconds, and 4 thirds on receivers, tight ends, and runningbacks. I'm not advocating spending the next 6 first round draft picks on receivers or anything, but the bottom line is you look at any top offense in the league and you find that they either A) draft receivers, tight ends, and runningbacks with top picks fairly consistently, or B. sign big name free agents. We really do neither. Other teams lose top FAs all the time and move on - maybe the problem is that we draft so little, we put ourselves in a position where we literally have no plan B if these guys leave, and that includes Pitta.
I absolutely agree with you and I have been vocal about us drafting a top receiver every single year . Trying to turn a Undrafted rookie into a Johnson that rarely happens . I get allot of grief for saying Ozzie is a draft genius unless he's looking at receiving talent but its true. will this year be different or when our number is called will he go defense or will he trade back for more picks leaving a day one starter still available . I went off topic a bit but I'm advocating for resigning pitta because I don't see us drafting offense other then a tackle in the first two rounds if we do take 16 or 17 and get a receiver I will happily eat my words.
Bad at drafting receivers and developing them tight ends too. I agree Monroe first then Pitta if Joe's not upright we could have 5 Pitta's on the field and it won't matter. I think Ozzie will do both I hate to lose Pitta , Jacoby and Leach Like another poster mentioned Torrey, Marlon and then what.
If he does find more money elsewhere we could be in for a bumpy start to the season with more new receivers.
and so the fun begins. Glad we kept Suggs. Thanks Ozzie
I for one am very happy and relieved to be dead wrong Castillo is not going to be Oc. I like Kubiak and think he's just what we need .
It's not Juan Castillo is it?
This has been my biggest fear that John would pick Juan I hope not.
I like Kirby Wilson. He gave the Steelers a respectable run game even though their O-Line was as crappy as ours. He has been through a lot and I like the fight that is in him. Hopefully we can sign him and start to run the ball with confidence.
He signed with the Vikings
I saw it in a tweet from Ian Rapoport:
#Bills have til Mon to decide if they’ll allow DC candidate Jim O’Neil to take CLE job. If not, Ravens LB coach Don Martindale is a target
thanks for this
I saw that too...if the Bills don't let Jim O'Neil take the job, supposedly "Wink" is their next target.
I was trying to confirm this too , I saw this as a rumor on a browns forum but so far nothing concrete .
I'm trying not to dwell on this and simply put my trust in the FO, but outside of Shannahan I don't think any of the other discussed candidates are impressive.
I hate to admit that I'm nervous the longer this is dragged out.
I saw a few forum members saying today (Friday) we should have an answer but I couldn't confirm that anywhere. I hope it doesn't drag on too long we still have position coaching slots that need filled at this rate its going to take forever lol. I think Shannahan is a good fit.
In my mind, if Hostler was going to be the guy, he'd already be there. I don't recall us fielding outside interviews when Rex, Mattison, or Pagano left.
I agree if he is "the guy" they wouldn't be taking second interviews from outside candidates . I don't think we did interview others for dc unless i missed it ,it seems like it didn't take this long but I could be wrong.
Haa I did say that didn't I?
I was convinced Castillo was our next OC you said no way and to quote you. The upside ,,,we have no where to go but up offensively this coming season , and i'm not being a sarcastic donkey's butt just beyond frustrated especially if this shapes up to be a repeat of last year
If Hostler becomes OC...Harbaugh might as well start his countdown.
there's a possibility he picks someone else he is still "interviewing" supposedly. Maybe these "inside sources" are wrong . you never know but you were right it's not Castillo
so I'm quoting you
My point is just because he is here and knows the players, doesn't make him qualified to run the offense. The position he has coached for the last 6 years has been the least productive group on our roster. The players lack the fundamental skills of an NFL WR. And none of them have improved on these things. That's not lack of talent, it's called poor coaching. It's not a coincidence that our 2 best WRs were free agent acquisitions who learned these skills before coming here.
I've been critical of Hostler for 3 years now. I'm not one of these kids that reads a post about him being bad, and then start ranting about it. I wanted this guy fired with Cam long ago. And now we're talking about promoting him?!?
I agree with you about our wr's .20 drafted wideouts and Torrey has the lone 1000+ yard season. I have been vocal about him too over the years. I don't know if he had a hand in play calling this past season I have seen no reliable links supporting that but if that is the case like you I'm not optimistic, cause I know when our first pick comes around we are not getting a wideout we are trading back for same old same old. maybe they found someone else and it is just a rumor
I did say anyone but Castillo .... Maybe given a chance and an upgraded oline who knows what could happen . The offense hit bottom so they only place left to go is up . The rumor could be false or he could be the choice and he could turn the offense into a top ten offense .
I don't know enough about Hostler to judge either way. I knew there was a reason why no news outlets had any info on who we were interviewing. Regardless of who they hire here's hoping they can change things for the better . I was hoping for someone young , creative and with innovative ideas, not the same old nonsense. and harbs needs to tone down the lies its sickening
