  1. I'd rather have Treadwell over a defensive guy at 6. Look at what Trestman did with Alshon and Marshall in Chicago. Tread could be a special player here paired with Breshad. I don't trust Pees at all to make the most of his shiny new toy.

i agree with this. If Treadwell is there you take him.

  2. nah, i think buckners a much better player honestly. higher upside, higher floor, more versatile, more physically dominant, better motor, better first step even though he outsizes him by about 20 lbs, bullrush is equal, i think buckner knifes through interior gaps much better, and i think he can fill 2 roles one being the dominant edge man we desperately lack, and the other role being that 3-4DE that we are currently settling for with canty and guy rotating.

the idea of clarence brooks coaching buckner has me more excited than the idea of any other prospect here.

do you like the idea of harbaugh "working him in" then playing limited snaps by week 14 then Clarence Brooks leaving next year while we retain Dean Pees?

    Sorry.... I'm still upset

  3. Damn it, this is what I've been wanting us to do since Reed retired.

Then again, I guess too we didn't know Ed was interested in coaching until this news came out. Also if we knew he wanted to coach, there would have to be interest from us to make this happen.

Reed states he was interested in coaching numerous times, more so than Ray, Reed was open to coaching. it should've been the first thing asked when he retired... But we want Pees and continuity of average defense.

  4. Oh please. Defense has gotten all the love in the draft and FA with the only exception being this last draft. No excuses for being bottom feeders. Suggs is one person. Trestman, fresh into a new year and running someone else's system then having to use the likes of Schaub, Clausen and Mallet did better with MORE injuries. Practically ALL his starters out. Injuries are no excuse.

    exactly.

  5. Finally got around to watching more game tape on the top DB's. (VH3, Ramsey Alexander)

    Thoughts:

    - VH3 struggled against the good WR's he faced which concerned me, had a lot more bad tape then I anticipated. Flashes of brilliance and super impressive athleticism but he got beat 1 on 1 the most out of all 3 of them. I see a lot of potential, I think he can mature some more physically and has the technical ability to be a really special player if he get's with the right coach and is groomed well. Definitely more of a project than a lot of people seem to perceive him as, the ability is certainly there but the issues against better WR's definitely worries me. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Alexander goes ahead of him, more on that later.

    - Ramsey has some bad tape as well but when he's on, he's ON. There are some super impressive plays he makes that make you say "wow". Over aggressive at times and has some brain fart moments but damn can this kid play ball. When you look at the total package of size, speed, strength, and athleticism he's the most impressive of the bunch, definitely Patrick Peterson-esque in that regard. He can just flat out do things the other 2 can't do. The one hang up for me is where do you play him. He's a better corner than people seem to realize but definitely best utilized at FS. I don't buy the recycled line of "Doesn't have the range yada yada" when you put the time in and watch the game tape you can definitely envision him being a killer FS. I could also see him being used like Tyrann Mathieu, he's so good around the LOS that you don't want him to just be a traditional FS.

    - Mackensie Alexander I was super impressed with, I think he's the best pure CB in the draft now. Very disciplined and rarely get's caught out of position. After watching the tape I really don't know how so many people think Hargreaves is better. Played very well against high level competition. QB's rarely even throw the ball his way and that perhaps is the sign of a true shutdown corner. Just so smooth in coverage, fluid hips, good back pedal, it's hard to find stuff to nit pick about his coverage in all honesty. Maybe not the athlete and all around specimen Ramsey is but he makes up for it with superior technique. If there's a an area of concern it's his physicality/tackling, the weakest of the 3 in that department. Whiffs on some tackles he should make, is easily blocked and taken out of plays... but considering he's a cover corner it's far from a deal breaker.

    Conclusion:

    - Alexander is the best pure corner

    - Hard to say who is the better prospect between Alexander and Ramsey because Ramsey is so versatile and so gifted physically/athletically.

    - VH3 may not be as impressive as the other 2 on tape but I still see what the hype is about, to me he's a bit of a project as far as top 5 players go but definitely has a high ceiling.

agree with everything. Wouldn't be mad if we draft Alexander with Haregraves on the board.

  6. Being prepared to be highly disappointed tomorrow and see them retaining pees, this has the cam Cameron feel again...oh well when we start off again 29th in defense after we draft our first 3 picks are defense hopefully they'll fire him in season like they did to cam. Seen this movie way too much times before.

  7. We have always improved by the end of the year, the problem is it takes too long for the players to adjust. This has literally happened every year and we are always surprised the beginning of next year how bad they play again it's a reoccurring cycle that I'm frankly tired of going through. Get some new blood in here.
