Even though he's a veteran, right now Joe needs a QB coach. He's developed some bad habits that need attention. Time to go back to 2010 when Al Saunders and Jim Zorn were truly helping Joe with his mechanics. Joe was much more consistent. Face it. He's starting to look like Jeff George. This years offense should be putting up 25-30 points a game. There's a reason it is not. Coaching..or the lack of it.
We needed this. John did it right on time. Now we can expect to see better play calling. And for all those bashing Joe, if we had had a real secondary in 2014 no doubt in my mind that we would have beat NE in the championship game. Joe is the best QB we've ever had. I hope Marty returns the Ravens back to balance. It was tough watching Joe being used incorrectly.
What poor play calling. As soon as we abandoned the run the offense turned cold. We need a balanced attack to have success. Why not let the RB coach call the plays. Our defense has to be frustrated by what they are seeing. No support at all. If you won't replace Trestman, at least change who calls the plays.
Anyone who believed the talk that Monroe would be our LOT was duped. Joe got his sacrifice answered with this J.O. clone. I expect Stanley to be eased into the position in preseason and ready to start at LOT game one. This is a great pick. Protecting Joe's blind side was the priority. QB's going 1&2 made the pick possible. I was elated when that happened. I knew we had our man.

Well said.
Its easy for us to say give up on your dream that you've worked 30 years to get. Money is obviously not the issue as pitta has 20 mil or so in his bank account. If pitta took a 4 mil dollar pay cut (freeing up the same amount as he'd retire) to chase that dream then all power to him. If I was pittas parent brother or wife, I would 109 percent disagree with his decision. But if he really wants to chase his dream and passion then I would 100 percent support his decision regardless of how sick it would make me feel every time he stepped on the field.
Pitta would be better off not to chance it. He's a smart guy who will do well in the real world. Goodbye Dennis. Thanks for 2012. You were there.
I heard Todd Heap plans on returning in 2017...rumor mill as they say. Pitta may lose his comeback bid. Dennis the injury menace has caused you Heaps of trouble. When I see it I'll believe it. We have 3 TE's with good hips. Max the waxed axe will put the hammer down. The smoking diesel.
Pitta is old news. We do have 3 TE's. Yea Max the waxed axe. Put the hammer down. The smoking deisel. I'm ready to see it. Pitta is old news. Not even close to Todd Heap.
I think maybe camo pants would be cool. several shades of purple plus grey and white maybe.
Camo pajamas in those colors are very cool Sami.!..but have you ever seen the MLB San Diego Padres in camo? They look like they belong in the middle east.
They're NOT gold. They are mustard. If the color was similar to the Rams' color of gold it might look good. To say the least, the Fashion Designer is colorblind. This was embarrassing. It is now in our teams' history forever. Is French's sponsoring the Ravens?
Just as an FYI......just because a player restructures a contract, doesn't necessarily mean he "sacrifices" any money. In fact, it usually means just the opposite.
I'm not doubting your football knowledge but we are talking about Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens here so I think a con job is out of the question making your post irrelevant. IMO
How big are injuries? Game one in Denver was it. Losing Suggs and Smith Sr. missing the winning catch. That said it all. Draft is #1.
The 2016 season started in Cleveland. That TD runback for the win cost us the #1 draft pick. I think Harbs was thrilled about it (not).
Big deal...The Broncos Steelers is the one I want to see. They were comparing the Broncos defense to the Ravens 2000. In that case.. Let's see the Broncos first shutout of the year. Didn't we have 4? Best ever are the 2000 Ravens defense.
Harbs runs a tough camp. Webb didn't need to bulk up. He needed time to fully heal. Some of the Vets benefit more from breaking in easy. It worked last season with Owen Daniels. Webb should be quick and loose. I think Webb will have a fine season as will Melvin. Can't get enough good DB's.
The major area of concern for me are penalties. i would surmise that Denvers' game plan would incorporate baiting D linemen or D blitz packages into trick snaps. Suggs had a hard time with that from the rookie refs in the Eagles game. I also think they will have an unknown player inserted for critical game control. I hope we can use our knowledge of Kubiaks' system to our advantages... I did not see Dum in the pre season but hope he can use his talents to disrupt Manning and his slot short routes
The Donkeys have 2 rookies in their offensive line. Their RB's block poorly. Manning was antsy all preseason. We're going to eat them up.
I'm not as sure about the Donkeys defense. That could be a different story. They are talking bad and things may get dirty. They think they are going to be the best defense in the NFL.
All NFL coaches get hit with tough questions at the wrong time. This reminded me of the interview of Packers coach Vince Lombardi after winning Super Bowl 1. The question everyone wanted answered was "How good were the AFL Champion Kansas City Chiefs?" I felt at the time of the interview that Vince really didn't want to answer but reluctantly he said "about as good as Detroit" who finished 4-9-1 tied for last in the west. The answer Vince gave may have been different if he had been asked at halftime when the Packers were only ahead 14-10. Harbaugh was smart for not responding. He was obviously steamed at the time.
Right off the bat...The refs wouldn't let the Ravens D play football. Those early penalties on Suggs...and all he was doing was playing football. The benefit of the game was Ravens OC Trestman was able to get some of Kelly's ideas on film and will put them into our offense.
There were a couple of good clean hits. Suggs is like JJ Watt. The only way he doesn't play his game is to sit him on the bench.
Thats crazy...Isn't it? In basic football terms, We got a beat down.
It went great during the practice with the Eagles. This game wasn't a very physical game which is opposite of what you expect from a Ravens/Eagles game. The Referees wouldn't allow it to get physical. Our starting running game was moving along pretty good.
It says Ravens greats...Not players. There are so many. How do you finish the list without feeling someone else should be there?
Why not honor Art Modell at the final game as Sami suggests and invite other greats (some won't be able to attend due to prior commitments and announce their names during the Art Modell celebration. Like Art said in his speach to the team after winning SB 35 "forget the front office." It all was because of his players and how hard they played for him. You could have McCrary and others get their recognition in Art's honor. I think Art would be proud.
How many other QB's do you see take a shot in the back from JJ Watt and then get up in Watts face and ask JJ Watt what are you trying to do. No one but Joe. One tough cool Joe. Had we drafted Matt Ryan he would have never made it this far. Now get us a kick returner please. I wanna win SB 50 so bad I can taste it. We need a kick returner and right now I don't see one.
I remember the play Barney S. Joe did say it. You could read his lips. He also stared Watt down after the cheap hit in the back Watt threw at him.
I don't see a kick returner either. As a former special teams coach with Philly Harbs must be searching for one.
The kicking game is half way there. Now just sign Tucker to a 5 year deal. One reason Tucker came to the Ravens was Billy Cundiff. It was Tuckers' best shot to make an NFL roster as an UFA. Tucker has excelled and will want top pay wherever he plays. He deserves it. I hope that signing Sam helps keep Justin a Raven.
"the legendary Ravens linebacker was basically a wrestler in football pads."
... with the notable difference that Ray was never a fake.
That's why he passed on it.
1) pretending? i dont know about you, but i say what i mean and say what i feel, even if it isnt a popular opinion.
2)im not going to panic either, mainly bc i dont have faith invested in teams other than my own, but if you are going to "pretend" that losing one of their top lineman who protects a 38 year old mannings blind side isnt an issue at all then i think youve got another thing coming. sure they can replace him, but his loss will be felt. you talk as if you are a secret denver fan or somethin, nothing wrong with that, just let it be known. yes yes i know, you are just being "objective".
3) i think Kubiaks days as a successful head coach are long behind him. personally i think he was better off as a O.C, not because i wanted him to stay in baltimore, ( i actually am very pleased with trestman being our new cordinator and also happy that Kubiak landed his dreamjob- no bitterness here) but bc i think after his heart issues it is just alot less stressful. i think it was incredibly stupid of Elway to get rid of John Fox, who not only took them to the superbowl a year before, but has been overall very consistant at winning. i see why they made the move- to try and get them over that last hump- however i dont agree with it.
4)i think the loss of Julius Thomas is also being overlooked, he was an intricate cog in their offense, regardless of the stats.( he caught 12 tds in 2013 and 14').
5) obviously many people , including elway, are hanging on to the notion that a 38 year old peyton manning will get to go out on top and ride off into the sunset. mainly because it happened with elway. like i already stated, this rarely happens. indy was incredibly bold by replacing manning with luck. they took a huge gamble and it paid off. manning still had a little something left in the tank at the time for one more strong push, but that was years ago. Denver threw everything they had in 2013 and came up short. Indys wise decision showed when luck just eliminated manning from the playoffs.
Peyton obviously showed signs of wearing down after week 11, they can say otherwise, but we all know thats why they started running the ball so heavily. their running game is decent, but its not going to carry them to the playoffs. their defense is good too, but not good enough. they will have to rely on mannings arm; And if last year is any sign, it is not going to hold up.
never said i was writing them off to have a successful season, i said i dont think they are superbowl contenders, and i definitely dont think they are better than the ravens at this point. obviously there are questions with our offense, no doubt there. we have some young guys that need to prove themselves and be groomed a bit. however i am sure all will be answered very early on. i have no doubt that joe will bring out the best in these guys, not to mention our offensive line is returning intact from last year- which will be the key to not only another strong season from forsett, but to running the entire offense. not only will we be extremely productive, but we are going to top last years numbers- no worries here. denver beating us by 20? lol i think that would be a huge surprise, and simply wont happen. Manning is going to take a beating by Suggs and company. this isnt 2013, Peyton is 2 years older, and Jimmy Smith is healthy and also more experienced. if that makes me an unrealistic ravens fan- then so be it. however i think the majority would disagree.
I laugh about what the Broncos do in Denver. The draft, the coaching, the GM. The Ravens are their role model. They have admitted it. Kubiak learned as much as he could in his year as OC but he also gave us his best while he was here. We shoulda beat the Pats. Gary deserved to win that one.
We were fortunate to have the Falcons new coaches drafting defensively in rounds 1 and 2. Had they kept (Smith) their former coach TE Maxx Williams would have been gone for sure and maybe WR Perriman too. It was good timing.
"Fell their way" is what happened last year when C.J. Mosley wasn't picked in the first round top 10. This draft had the Ravens selecting the best player for their team to go after the Lombardi. They replaced Torrey in round 1. The top TE in round 2. Had Shane Ray been on the board would the Ravens have selected him in round 1 or 2... I doubt it. Anything about the Ravens wanting Ray was smoke. Even what Harb's said may have been. But yes things turned out in our favor. Other teams made BIG mistakes allowing Ozzie to get his needs filled with potential top players. Ozzie possibly has had his best ever draft.

One player can make a difference. Moe Williams couldn't replace Jamal Lewis. So if we can get 100% healthy we can make a run at going 8-8 / 9-7 and maybe win the division. Our offense needs some finger pointing at this time. Ray Lewis had it right. Hold them all accountable. Leave politics out of it. Make the Ravens offense show up from here on out.
