  1. I think we get Mike Evans..its an obvious one i feel. Perhaps we can then Get Q back in free agency

    Torrey

    Anquan

    Evans

    Pitta

C J Fieodorowicz (3rd round pick? BEAST BLOCKER)

    Brown

Question is, would Q want to come back after being tossed to San Francisco?  He'd own negotiations from start to finish for what Baltimore did then probably burn us when he's needed most.  He'd be justified in doing it too.  Too much young talent in the draft to look back.  Be nice to nab Mike Evans or another physical receiver.

  2. The belief here is that Oz is intent upon drafting an athletic Tight End in the 1st round.  Pitta is history. Goodbye Pitta, it was nice while it lasted.  But your home boy Joe, took all the funds needed to sign you.  Best of luck in your new city!

Now, the only problem is building up any confidence that Oz can actually pick that difference maker in the 1st round.  Last year's first round pick makes Raven fans shudder with fear.

I've been saying Pitta will leave for the past several days myself:  http://boards.baltimoreravens.com/topic/56980-news-late-for-work-110-franchising-dennis-pitta-may-cost-5-million-more-than-expected/?view=findpost&p=1743915

To be fair, I don't think Elam could've done enough on the other side of the ball to make up for the tragedy that was Baltimore's 2013 offense. Elam couldn't make Ray Rice tell the truth about his condition.  Elam couldn't create separation for Torrey Smith.  Torrey wasn't always double-teamed.  He frequently lost against single coverage late in the season and confirmed it by lashing out at fans over fantasy football.  I understand his frustration but it's not the fans fault his performance declined against good defenders.  Elam couldn't help the line create running holes or provide Joe better accuracy.  It would be nice to see Ozzie target tough receivers.  Speed is great but I'd rather have a WR or TE with an innate ability to win battles and make catches.  I'll trade a blazing 4-whatever dash for that any day.

Back to Pitta, he's gone.  It was nice to see him play for Baltimore.

Someone help me.  I believe Pitta will be re-signed but I have no confidence that Baltimore will do right by offensive players who consistently produce.  We saw what the F.O. did to Boldin, Mason AND Heap within the past few years.  Regarding Heap, He was a gamer, however since his waiver, I believe he has played about 2 games.  Unfortunately, he gave his body to Baltimore, but in that case it's hard to fault our faulty Front Office because he was used up.   Look at what they almost did to Leach fresh off a Super Bowl victory and he's one of the best catching fullbacks in the league.  They were "Gaming" Leach too. It was despicable. The fact is he wasn't used much because the running game foundered. Anyone remember the tragedy that was Le'Ron McClain?  Never saw a fullback tackle himself after a catch until that guy. Regarding Mason, he was consistent even when waived, but he was older too.  There's no comparison to the situation with Boldin.

I'm trying to find any evidence that can indicate the Ravens F.O. doesn't sabotage itself by being cheap.  I typically only see changes when the "bleeding" begins to get out of control (ex: Baltimore's 10-man offense until the signing of Monroe...is that an unfair assessment of the line?).  Kelichi wasn't at full-strength due to injury but I always thought McKinnie was the primary problem. Can't agree with you here. We did not improve once Monroe was Substituted for McKinnie.  Monroe had 7 sacks against in 10 games and 3 false starts.  We also gave up draft picks for him that we desperately need. Monroe really has trouble guarding the edge on a speed rush.  McKinnie started for Miami on a team that lost 3 starting linemen during the season, Pouncey, Martin and the guard, (can't remember his name.) That line was porous and McKinnie wasn't great but he was no worse than Monroe and that was the position here when the crazy transaction occurred.  The Front Office also blamed McKinnie. It wasn't Big Mac.

Back to Pitta, I'm confident he'll be re-signed but I'm not convinced Baltimore will do right by him in the long run.  I'm looking at their history of contract lifespans with proven receivers.  I hope the F.O. manages to find a way to abandon their usual shenanigans and actually keep proven receivers through their contracts!! The Front Office is saddled with several large longer term contracts with players that were not as productive last year. It's hard to believe that with a player coming off an injury they will open the bank vault.  When he did return he was not the panacea most here thought he would be.  Because I believe he was a gear of the machine and not the energy source the Front Office will probably sign him.  They just can't make the right decision now.  The missteps and the current pressure are unraveling them.

Thanks for this insight.  It is greatly appreciated.
