The Jernigan trade just furthers my stance that I don't see a clear direction with this team?

Are we going to remain competitive?  If so, there an awful lot of holes left to fill with very little cap space to do it.  It's great that we have 4 top 80 picks but hitting on all of those is a rarity.

Are we going through a rebuild of sorts?  If that's the case, why are Pitta and Watson still here, and why did we sign Woodhead and Carr?

Again, maybe I'm just failing to see it, but I'm not sure this team has a direction right now.

This team is going to look so different than last year's. Pretty crazy that SSS, Wagner, Juice, Doom, Jernigan and Orr will all be gone in one offseason. The FO is probably going to have to draft at least three immediate impact players at positions of need if this team really thinks they're going to get back into contention.

I love the underrated value of Lamp. Great pick up. However, I don't get how people think Elflein is still there in the middle of the third. There are just too many teams with needs at center that I cannot see the best, if not, the second best center in the draft still sitting there that late.

I agree on Eflein. He's a really good all around lineman in a weak OL class. Teams needing center and guards will look at him too. I'd be fine with him at 48. I think out of every prospect available he's one of the best fits for us. His power game is exactly what we need at center.

Hasaan Reddick recently said he views himself as a 3-4 OLB first and that's his comfort zone.

He could definitely be a bigger possibility at 16.

I think Haason is the ideal linebacker for our defense. Everyone knew how good he is in coverage after the senior bowl, but he has potential to be a double digit sack guy off the edge as well. He could be a Jamie Collins type LB

Jourdan Lewis just had a dv case

Curtis Samuel was mocked to us twice by Charlie from WF(he's been really accurate with the ravens)

tank is a completely unwilling tackler

oj is likely gone by 16 and njoku is very raw and Evan engram looks better in every facet

tabor is an upcoming penalty magnet imo

harris has been often mocked to us in the first and second, I wouldn't take him at 16 though

feeney has always been one of my favorite prospects but realistically he's out of range, 16 is too early and he'll be gone by 48, but I would have no problems if we shocked the world and took him at 16

You're limiting a lot of possibilities by ignoring that trades can and do happen. Lewis was found not guilty. I agree it's unlikely he comes here, but the Ravens have a lot more information on players than the outside, especially those at Michigan. First I've heard of Samuel to us. I haven't looked at WF in a long time, they used to be just awful. Tankersley's tackling is definitely inconsistent, but maybe... he can get better at it! I think you're way off on Njoku and don't realize the ability he has. He's been playing TE for two years and is already so good. He'd be a perfect target for Joe, who's best throwing deep and up the seam.

  5. The thing about all these mock drafts from media and online forums, is that they're all basically the same. And for the past three years no one has correctly projected even the Ravens first two picks. No one ever mocked Stanley or Perriman, and Mosley was rare. Never saw Jernigan or Correa linked to us either. Even third rounders, like Kaufusi and Carl Davis were barely mentioned on here. The funny thing is, despite the lack of attention, these were almost immediately hailed as good picks, especially by people here.

The Ravens have shown they will go away from big needs at times and is one of the very few teams that doesn't use a national scouting service. So their drafts often look different from conventional mocks and big boards. So with that, who are some early round under the radar picks you think could happen?

Here's some I came up with:

    - Forrest Lamp: I think he's easily the best o-lineman and can play OT more than fine

    - Dan Feeney

    - OJ Howard & David Njoku: May be too good to pass up

    - Curtis Samuel: Baltimore isn't the best fit for raw and athletic receivers, but he could be really good

    - Charles Harris: Would probably have had a much better year if Mizzou didn't lose its great DL coach and completely change its defensive scheme

    - Haason Reddick

    - Chris Wormley

    - Teez Tabor: Could be had later than perviously thought due to his slow 40 time

    - Cordrea Tankersley: A bit stiff, but he's 6'1'' and runs a 4.4 flat with seem decent tape vs top competition, how is he not getting more attention?

    - Jourdan Lewis: So good. 5'10'', but plays big

not sur why we stil are in disbeleive. lissen close becuz this is the truth. decosta picd joe for the 2008 draff n ot all in for him cuz he was gonna trade back but joe is decostas golden egg goose. when joe played real well for the championship he was money for 4 games and credable in the yrs leadin up with a heckuva team. joe got paid but not for his body of play he got paid for them four games. he nevah playad a four game strech like that befor an he nevah playad a four game strech like that afta. but what they see at all times is that four game strech and thare golden egg goose. if you take that golden egg goose away afta all these yrs what have they got? not very much. in the game of pokar they pushd all their chips into the center and said all in on joe. they cant see his weakness and they cant see his need and they cant see thar mistak

when we think about misguides this is a good letter to print and pin up on the good oz bad oz tack board.  oz is not a offens draffer. he best with d  decosta but for one yr has not been much of an offense draffer. the comprehesuv plan cannot work wiff getting all them pics and havin the same draff pickers.

A little random... but they paid Flacco because every year in the playoffs he won a game and gave us a great chance to contend. We rarely lost in playoffs because of him. They need to get him back there with a solid OL and better targets.

Since it sounds like the team is done until the draft, I can honestly say that I'm a little confused on the direction of this team.  I know the draft is still yet to happen but I don't really see the plan here.  Are we retooling or are we going for it?

The same holes still exist as they have for years now - WR, OL, OLB, and CB.  We made an attempt at filling CB in Carr but that's clearly a 1-2 year stopgap and nothing more.

We opted to spend our money on positions that weren't really needs.  Tony Jefferson is obviously the big get.  I can't complain about this one since he's young and a clear signing for the future, but I still find it interesting how much we spent on him when we at least had a viable option already on the roster in Webb, even if it was short term.  Woodhead wasn't expensive, but still interesting that we chose to invest there when you have a bevy of RBs in the draft.  I love Williams but his re-signing still confuses me in the grand scheme of things.  I like getting him back but I still question whether it was the best use of money considering none of our holes have been filled, and you had a guy that maybe you had to rely on stepping up.

Furthermore, we've opted to keep all 87 of our tight ends for the time being.  I know we have a young group but I see no point in having both Pitta and Watson on the roster when that cap could probably be better used, but I guess there's still time for that to happen.

Overall, I guess I'm just failing to see the direction.  We invested in a few stopgaps and a few younger players, but still have the same holes.  Is that a team that can compete?

I agree there's no clear direction. Every position the FO talked about needing major upgrades hasn't received much at all, even after handing out $63mil gaurenteed! The fact that we've had the same main needs for the past 3+ years is quite concerning.

All this talk about surrounding Joe with an elite OL and great talent around him but they're doing the opposite. The offense sucked last year and has lost a lot of talent this off season. Now they have to turn to a crappy OL class, where guys are going to get overdrafted because of the league wide need for them. And I bet that yet again they're going to rely way too heavily on their own WR's developing. C, RT and WR are huge needs, but no lets spend $ on another RB even though that's the smallest need and has a stacked draft class.

Of all the franchise QB's, Flacco gets by far the least help year in and year out imo. He's only had one good, or even stable OC and he's never had a great WR corps. A shame he's going to retire without the Ravens ever even seeing his full potential.

Hearing a ton of buzz in these mocks that we're taking wideout John Ross... I sure hope that isn't the case👿

I don't think it'd be a bad pick. Not ideal but Ross can constantly get open everywhere on the field with his elite speed, quickness and footwork. He freezes NFL caliber DB's and breaks their ankles every game.

Most certainly lol My only concern with him was that he was very much reliant on the outside rush and the hips were a little stiff on inside counters. But I've seen some placed have him in the first two rounds, so it definitely looks like good value at this point.

He's dangerous on that inside stunt though too, so much burst and relentless motor. I really like him a lot

  10. Not sure what to do about RT. The current guys on the team are about as bad as it gets for starters. There's some OT's in the draft I like, but none have really played RT before. Flipping a guy to the other side of the line isn't always that easy and a lot of guys can't do it comfortably. I guess the team could work them out and see how they do there, but I'm not really sure how to evaluate that from tape.

  11. Last year's offense was lead by an incompetent, stubborn and dull OC who repeatedly refused to run the ball no matter the score or situation. To the surprise of everyone around the NFL he will be returning. Now the front office has chosen not to re-sign Rick Wagner, arguably the best RT in the league. They've let Juice go, which was a good call, but you are losing the best FB in the league and most versatile player on your offense. And your hall of fame WR just retired.

The front office talked about building an elite OL being a priority, but the current starting RT is James Hurst, who will just get Flacco injured once again. There are no quality RT's left on the market and OT is often called the weakest position in this draft class. Even the few good ones are pretty much all LT's, and moving a guy to the other side of the line isn't always easy. Also, there are a number of teams desperate for tackles which could lead to them being over drafted. And Ozzie usually goes BPA by need. Center is now a huge need as well and depth is needed across the board.

TE: There's like 10 on the roster, but none of them have shown the ability to be a quality starter. Pitta completely limits the offense and none of the young guys have proven to be anything more than a move the chains type receiver. It isn't a bad group, but it's not dynamic at all and Flacco needs more help.

WR: No real number 1 guy here. I like Wallace a lot, but he will be 31 and could lose his speed at anytime. Perriman has amazing potential, but has a long way to go. He's faster than every DB in the league and bigger than 95% of them, but hasn't shown he can make more than the occasional splash play. There's nothing behind those two in terms of potential starters. So this seems like a below average group with the potential to be okay.

RB: Dixon got himself suspended for 4 games. Nice job Kenneth! West is an alright power back at best. Woodhead could be a great addition but is a 32-year old coming off an ACL tear. Lot of question marks here. Best case scenario it's a pretty good group.

And on top of all of this you're relying on Flacco to return to his pre-injury self. I've always been a Flacco fan, but he regressed big time last year. Right now Flacco needs help more than ever, but the exact opposite is happening.

We obviously still have the draft along with a small amount of money left after some more cuts, but that's a lot of immediate holes to fill. Right now we easily have one of the worst offenses in the league. The front office has never drafted a great offense and this is a very defensive heavy draft. Hard to say I have much faith the offense will be any better next year.

  12. Late to this, but I think Deshaun Watson fits great with Sean Payton and the pieces around him. Should have good protection, which may be the biggest determination of his success after rarely being under pressure at Clemson, and has great skill players around him

Cam Jordan, Geno Atkins, Sheldon Rankins and Takkarist McKinley is quite the upgrade for the Saints pass rush. Takk is one of my favorite players for the Ravens too

  13. I really want Williams or Davis now. I'd trade the 3rd round comp to secure one of them. The offense desperately needs help

I've been a huge fan of Lawson for awhile and if he fell to the 2nd that'd be worth the injury risk imo. Johnson pick is obviously pointless now
