  1. have to remember that Suggs has been playing with a torn bicep all season and it's probably really bothering him now, and Doom is getting older and has been hurt all season too. Without an effective pass rush, you can't stop a cagy, quick-release QB like Big Ben. No Jimmy Smith really hurt us too, but Smith's value has to be re-evaluated. He's too injury-prone. We need someone stalwart like a Richard Sherman.

  2. Couple of thoughts:

    1. Getting outcoacched was painfully evident. Harbaugh is a solid HC, but no mastermind like Belichick. From the way NE went uptempo early in the game and completely exhausted out our league lading D-line which allowed them to push us around with the run game the rest of the day, to couple of trick plays just at the right time, and even to the last play before 2 minute warning in the end of game, where they passed since it the clock was gonna stop anyway and caught the entire defense off guard - our team was just not ready for anything in this game. And the saddest part is, our entire team from coaches to players seemed to be baffled and surprised by the things NE did. As if we haven't seen it year in and year out. Our Harbaugh&Boys just got schooled, period.

    2. Flacco and Brady both veteran QBs, yet one of them is capable of reading the defense, detecting weaknesses in coverage, audibling to a right play to take advantage of those weaknesses and make the defense pay for their play call. The other dumps the ball off to the closest receiver, usually near the line of scrimmage.

    3. It was actually pathetic to see Ravens attempt nohuddle uptempo offense next to Brady and Cheat-a-lots. NE was on the line scrimmage ready to snap 10-20 seconds from the end of last play and our defense could not even get into their stances. Our "uptempo" offense never managed to get a snap off with considerably more than 10 seconds on the clock. Absolutely no urgency late in the game, we just wasted time between plays. And when running our regular offense, our guys got lined up with 10 second on play clock. How in the hell if Flacco, even if he is capable of that, make any audibles with so little time remaining?! How in the hell can other teams get ready to run a play at least 10 seconds faster than us?! That puts our offense in a disadvantage even before the snap, damn it!

    You are so right.

  3. Kubiak's patience with the running game is what struck me while watching the AFC Championship game -- of course, that and the amazing D. I was thinking back over the season and remembering how Trestman just couldn't stick with it, and that put so much pressure on Joe to throw so many times. If you're going to throw 40 times in a game, and your O-line sucks, it's pretty much a recipe for disaster. Hope Harbaugh exerts some pressure on him to stick with it next season.

  4. I think he meant wins and not players. And it was criminal intent that was displayed by Burfict. Hs name actual should be Inflict cause he's aiming to hurt or mame his opponents. A life time ban will probably ensue come his next infraction. Hopefully. i'm praying he doesn't kill someone on the field. But his style of play reminds me of the play that paralyzed a player. But as they say, Karma is mother.

Yes, I think you're right.  But in the end, they could not retain their composure and that did them in...I've been upset at some of the unnecessary hits the Ravens have given out this season -- thinking about Timmy Jernigan in particular -- that have cost us dearly.  His unrepentant attitude and Harbaugh's defence of it was even more troubling.  Have to learn from these things.  It is never worth it.

  5. With the benefit of hindsight, Bisciotti calling the Bengals "the class of the AFC North" is hilarious...as dirty as some of the games between the Ravens and Steelers have gotten, I don't think anyone was prepared for the almost criminal behavior of some of the Bengals in last night's game (which they thankfully lost). It just goes to show that in the NFL, anything can happen and probably will. Even Cris Collinsworth was rendered speechless.

  6. Making wholesale changes may sell with the fan base, who want a quick-fix and, often, a scapegoat, but our owner is smarter than that. You have to look no further than our division -- the Cleveland Browns. Could ANY team change coaches more often than they do? And they continue to spiral downward. That Art Modell was a smart guy. Bisciotti is even smarter to listen to him, and his own instincts.

  7. I love having Steve Smith on the team, even if he isn't as clutch as he was in his younger days. He is a leader and a mentor to the younger guys. And you have to love the way he plays with all his heart and soul! He is in the Ray Lewis/Ed Reed mold, where you just lay it all out for your team. If we had to lose Anquan, at least we got a great replacement in SSS. Welcome back!

  8. Made the season for me. SWEET! It was so much fun to see Mallett out there looking like Peyton Manning, and our rag-tag group of guys who normally wouldn't be playing after the preseason wreaking havoc with the great Steelers. If only the offsides penalty hadn't negated Jimmy Smith's pick, I wouldn't ask for another thing this season. That almost killed me.
