  1. Big Ben is being charitable; he knows it will be a blow-out, in their favor. Just giving respect.
  2. I think it would have been a different season if Suggs had stayed healthy. Oh, and Steve Smith Sr., and Flacco, and Forsett, and....I wonder if Perriman will come out of witness protection?
  3. Jernigan is a meathead. Now I'm beginning to think Harbs may be one too. Smith was definitely out of bounds. If this is the way the guys are getting coached, no wonder we're losing.
  4. You really think Harbaugh went, in one season, from being one of the winningest coaches in the NFL, to an ineffective coach who can't enforce discipline in his players? No. This team is an example of what can happen in the NFL due to player attrition, salary cap issues, injuries, and some draft picks just not working out (could ANYONE have foreseen the Perriman debacle??). Some of the draft picks appear to be plain stupid (sorry, but Timmy Jernigan has done the same stupid things time and again...some players never learn). Harbaugh has kept this team motivated and hard-working in the face of some unimaginable odds. Not that he is perfect, but what coach is? We'll be lucky if he stays. Or doesn't have a heart attack from the stress.
  5. I honestly don't think this will impact the team that much. He hasn't exactly been a playmaker this season.
  6. Who cares about the Pro Bowl? It is just name recognition. The same people get voted in year after year. They always mention it as an accolade, but everyone knows it is bogus. They should just get rid of it.
  7. I don't think Eisenberg was saying Joe is elite. But he is a franchise quarterback. I don't think even his naysayers would deny that. And this is an example of what so many NFL teams struggle with every season when they don't have a Joe Flacco -- the constant juggling, insecurity, and winging it that makes for a losing season. I think we've all seen that there are many variables that go into making a winning season, and having an "elite" quarterback isn't the only one. There must be consistency at the OC position, few injuries, a balanced team...and a head coach who can inspire and motivate. We have the QB, the coach, and now we need the other factors to shore up. And yes, a secondary coach who can actually coach!
  8. Very disappointed in this latest roster move. Mallett showed himself to be a punk on the Texans. I don't care how badly O'Brien handled the QB line-up, Mallett was unprofessional and acted like a spoiled brat. I don't see him fitting in. Should have kept Renner on and and developed him instead.
  9. No one really expected this game to be close, did they? The Seahawks are red-hot right now, a complete team, and our team is on life support. Once again, there were bad calls, but the fact is, we are a pale facsimile to the team I've been watching the last five years. Very sad.
  10. Wonder if we have the personnel to make it through the season?
  11. The Ravens are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. I think that's been said many times. Even with our pitiful record this season, in some divisions we'd be in the race. Not sure that would be a good thing. We need to get strong with good draft picks and more money. Look at the teams that were weak for years that are now getting stronger because of it...the Raiders, even the Jags and Titans. The system is flawed but I'd still rather have it this way than the way of professional baseball where the same teams win year after year after year. The Ravens have a solid organization and good ownership and that is the real key to success in the NFL. Amen.
  12. I pray that we are not desperate enough to sign Ryan Mallet. He is a punk and would not fit in with the Ravens. Please, don't do this, Ozzie.
  13. There is no way in the world that a John Harbaugh-coached team is going to give up for higher draft picks. That's the opposite of the way the mentality of this team is built. The Ravens play to win, period. You can see the teams who have given up; the Dolphins, the 49ers, possibly at this point even the Browns. Those teams have owners who want a quick fix and are impatient; their locker rooms are divided; they have no respect for their coaches. That is not the Ravens' way. And that's why I love my team!
  14. If there's one thing you can say about John Harbaugh, it's that he is relentlessly positive. You never hear any dissing of the team, threatening to bench the QB, no morose-ness even in the face of every darn thing that can go wrong, going wrong. He's the one I'd want with me on a sinking ship. Nuff said.
  15. Luckily, we were playing the Browns for Matt's debut. We were playing with basically either rookies or back-ups on offense. Also, don't forget -- we lost to the Browns in October, at home, with Flacco under center. The NFL is so unpredictable. But what a spectacular finish!!
  16. Think we should have run the ball more, though. Trestman isn't committed to the run, it seems. Schaub isn't a reliable passer
  17. Three things have really changed since 2011 -- 1. Penalties -- we used to be a team that racked up very few. Now we're one of the league's leaders in ratcheting them up. 2. Interceptions -- Joe never, or rather rarely, threw them. Now you can almost count on him to throw a couple of costly ones every game. Yes, the LT spot has not been great. But still, he needs to work on his fundamentals. Oh wait -- that brings me to 3. Injuries - we are making up for lost time here, too. We NEVER had this many injuries...gotta wonder why. Strength and conditioning? Bad luck? Guys not taking care of themselves?
  18. I like your thinking! And we think we've got problems...
  19. Iron Man will be fine. Not worried. But they need a good, viable back-up. I keep watching Tyrod Taylor -- happy for him, but man, we could use him right now!!
  20. Come on, people, he's the back-up to the back-up. You were expecting maybe Peyton Manning? And the article did say they were considering signing Bryn Renner to the practice squad. At this point we need bodies, and all the "good" candidates are long gone. Whoever mentioned Kaepernick should know he just had surgery so he isn't available.
  21. Sad, sad day. To lose our RB and our franchise QB in one game...it makes you wonder. It really does. I have little to no faith in Matt Schaub to lead this team, but I guess that's all we've got. We will really, really miss Joe Flacco. I hope he has a phenomenal recovery. Maybe Ray Lewis can give him some of his deer antler spray...:-)
  22. Next year looks like it may be better, with the league allowing trading for compensatory picks. Ozzie has been the best at stockpiling those. This team has been snake-bit this year. It happens. They won't fold. We have good leadership all over the place. It's just one of those years.
  23. I'm hoping it's a sign of Harbs' frustration that he had to single out these two young players publicly. There was plenty of blame to go around. He's dumping on the two most expendable, the weakest links in the chain...I've never heard him do this before. He won't say anything about Flacco's three interceptions...he needs him. I'm kind of disappointed in him.
  24. Jon Gruen always says it on MNF - TOO MANY FLAGS! IT'S A FLAG FEST! He always says he wishes they would let the players play the game. Too many rules, maybe, for part-timers to digest. Get full-timers in there, if there's a penalty for even blinking your eye.
  25. This is the hour of desperation.
