  1. He'd have more than one WR if Doss and the younger WRs actually got an opportunity. There's no need to generalize on rookie WRs going on IR either. Streeter was raw and didn't contribute on special teams. He was a prime IR candidate.

So three drops means he's not an worthy heir apparent? Right. Doss doesn't make enough catches because he doesn't get many opportunities. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

Doss hardly saw the field this year in plays designed to get him the ball. Give him a full workload and he'll make enough catches. Now, I'm not saying I expect Doss to ever live up to Boldin's level. However, I just think your justification for why Doss is not Boldin is horrible.

you both missed my point . if we are cutting boldin wouldn't it be better to have a PROVEN talent to replace him and not gamble on unproven "rookies" ie doss williams streeter........... what happens if they all turn out to be david reed and 4 years from now they are still developing .if doss turns out to be the next calvin johnson great but what if the indy game is his norm we have no way of knowing thats the point.

  2. I didn't make your point at all. Doss' terrible against the Colts doesn't mean he has bad hands. I don't remember a single dropped pass from him in the regular season.

If Q was cut and not re-signed, the team wouldn't be doomed as some people seem to have convinced themselves. WRs often break out in their third season and in a better offense, I think Torrey could make serious statistical jump. Doss has room to improve with more opportunities, there's Streeter and Thompson and there's always the draft to add talent.

joe needs more then one reciever to throw too. we have pitta and dickson (who also is not the best at catching). what's the point of drafting more wr's to add to injured reserve until they develop . we need recievers who can take boldins place . and i don't see doss doing that the colts game, the superbowl and he just doesn't make enough catches to help .

  3. we won't go back to run first all of this is speculation at this point boldin has denied the whole thing. i don't want him gone either and since i have calmed down i know the fo will not mess up and leave us without options.i disagree with you it is damn near impossible to draft a wr nfl ready and austin will not start day one playing like calvin johnson or welker or "insert name of good wr here....."the speed of the game is different , formations, routes etc.

with the wr's we have and if what you and everyone else says is true all wr's have to develop then all we r left with is the run game reed 4 years are u freaking kidding me ? what job do you know where u can have it not do one darn thing and keep it for 5 years ? none of this makes sense.

  4. The passing game wasn't built on easy completions. Torrey was targeted 110 times and caught 49 balls in the regular season. Q caught 65 of 112 passes thrown his way.

you just made my point torrey is still learning and getting better . q caught over half his passes .and this is not counting post season . so we cut boldin, we have jacoby dropping passes or fumbling them torrey still learning and doss dropping passes still learning and drawing penalities .....they need to keep boldin

  5. Where are you getting this from? Did you chart all 18 passes thrown to him in the regular season (according to ESPN) and the few in the post-season? Or, like seemingly most people, are you basing your opinion on on him solely based on what you saw from him against Indy?

. if he was targeted 18 times in the regular season then he caught 7 for 123 yards .thats not even half .

  6. To everyone bagging on our young WRs (Doss, Laquan, Streeter, Thompson); don't you remember Torrey? He had a disappointing training camp and preseason, some were already labeling him a bust, others were saying he would never be more than a speed guy who would come in for go routes. Then he gets a shot to start a game because one of our WRs who we assumed was better got hurt. Everyone knows what happened that day.

I'm not saying I don't want Boldin, I do. I will be very disappointed if we lose him. I'm simply saying to let others have a shot before you write them and the team off. Sometimes it's all about confidence, and in the case of someone like Torrey all it took was one game for him to become the WR we were looking for.

i i always knew torrey was good .i never bashed him and i think he will only get better with caldwell and joe

  7. the only point i was trying to make it is fine to say cut boldin but when you look for someone to replaced him there is no one period. doss can't catch, williams he lays on the ground to catch ,,,,,thompson haven't seen him play, streeter 'developing". would it kill ozzie or thefront office to actually draft a wr that can catch run routes and get seperation if so then go ahead and cut boldin if not find a way to keep him . no point having a 120 mil dollar qb with a rocket for an arm and go back to a run first team over 2 million dollars. thats not smart

  8. well as of lately we have been developing receivers much better than before mainly becuase we have stable QB play. This is a deep receiver class, so I would take a guy in the second round if the value is there. Markus wheaton, Hopkins, Woods, all are guys that would be good day one contributors.

i would love austin , yes i know i'm dreaming but of the ones you mentioned I like wheaton and Hopkins woods i don't know much about .

  9. Streeter was placed on IR because he was a project. There was no way he was ready to play in the NFL. Pretty everyone agrees that Jacoby is a 3, no one is suggesting he be our other starting WR.

with q gone who would be though seriously jacoby is pretty much it .i figured as much with streeter i had a feeling he was not injured at all like most of the guys on ir.

  10. Boldin's got a good 3 years left. He's only 32.

I like Ellerbe but we shouldn't break the bank on him. Lets be realistic. We should try and keep Ellerbe, but if he's looking for 30M thats a little too rich and its not impossible for us to fill in at MLB. We always do well at LB we just find guys and develop them right and left. So as long as we get a NT we should be solid. Jameel's coming back.

Ellerbe should stay. No one wants to go to the Browns if they care about winning games. Also we've got some up and coming LBs. Josh Bynes and some players in the draft. So as much as I'd like to keep Ellerbe losing him isn't the end of the world if he wants to break the bank with his contract.

i agree with you i keep hearing doss has the best hands on the team if thats the case as stated before this wr corps is in serious trouble. In ozzie we trust for defense the man does not do well in the wr department. streeter was a stand out in college why was he stashed on ir was it route running or was he really injured. thompson hasn't played enough to make a decision. and i know this isn't a popular opinion but jacoby jones is not a number 1 or 2 reciever. he drops allot of balls. the fo doesn't care what any of us think but i pray they work things out with q until at least we find some good wr's.
