Ok I think I get it now lol. This has nothing to do with the fact that I compared Perriman to Torrey and everything to do with the fact that Torrey is a hated man now.Whew, thought I was going crazy for being the only one who sees the similarities.
Torrey is not a hated man. Well to some maybr but not to most. People are just pointing out the facts. He wasnt a pure hands catcher. Yes he had some hands catches but most of his catches were sloppy. I will give him credit though. He did get better with his mechanics every year. He was extremely passive. He gave up consistently on his routes-especially towards the middle of field. I think Perriman is significantly better coming out of college the Torrey was and has a higher ceiling. I dont see much similarities between the two really. Someone pointed out the hes similar to DT. I agree with that.
I was saying those are the receivers who got 1000 yards for us. I know boldin never had an 1000 yard season for us.i believe derrick mason only fell short of 1k yards twice in his whole time with us.
you may be thinking of boldin, who never hit 1000 yards with us. derrick mason was an all-franchise offensive stud for us and i still believe joe wouldnt have became half the player he is today without derrick mason in his younger years
Isnt great? Any receiver who gets 1000 yards in thr NFL is a great season. Given torrey only had one 1000 yard season with us and maybe Mason also, its not easy. If BP gets 1000 yards his rookie year, I will be estatic and he'll be in the running for OROY. Not to mention a huge relief off our shoulders because we finally have a star receiver.I think BP is gonna have a great rookie year. I think 50-60 catches around 1000yards. I think he will get off to a slow start then will hit a stride. I don't know if you can call that great, but I'd be more than satisfied with that production. I don't like predicting tds, too many variables go with that.
As many others have said here, for what little we have seen of him he is relatively impressive. It's easy to remember him "going Randy" on the Tampa CB in the memorable 5 TD in 16.5 minute game last year. And he showed here and there. But there were games when we really needed someone to get seperation and he didn't get it done. Of course, you have to wonder if the injuries played into that. I think if he got a whole season, he'd be able to develop into that Wes Welker, "7-11", always open type of guy.
It was his rookie year. This will be his second year with Joe at QB to gain communication. Camp will only get better as long as he can stack days on the field instead of being injured.
Slot receivers are usually quick becuz they have to run their routes quickly and find the holes fast. I heard Jeremy Butler was as quick as Camp and has more range.
But camp has game time experience and has done very well when not injured. I feel very confident Camp can turn into a great slot receiver for us. He just has to his body in shape to avoid injuries. One thing abot em is he plays fearless. We dont know about Butler.
So when John Urschel left harvard they just become clueless huh? John please go teach them something please!!! And Yanda is the best linemen in all of football, i just hope his agent doesnt know that because it could price him outta here. Although Ed is my all-time favorite raven, Ray is the Best of the Best. He was the heart and soul and heartbeat of this team. But i believe it could very well be 1A and 1B. Sugar Ray and Quick. Congrats to Tomlin...looking forward to ending your season for years to come...just stay off the sideline!!!
John Urschel left Penn State. Juice is from Harvard.
How is this unfair to Joe? Its spot on and right where he belongs in my opinion. Hes a regular season "so so" guy who turns it up during the playoffs.
Its not about the ranking they put on Joe, its about what they left out of the reason why. They failed to mention Joes cast of receivers and never had a number one receiver like most "elite" QB's have. They left out the drop rate Jor has to deal with over the years and Lee Evans drop that was right in the bread basket. They failed to mention so many things but yet they say our defense carries Joe which is simply untrue. The 2012 season is not an anomoly because joe has been January Joe for a while now. Its not about the ranking.
And they fail to mention our receivers drop rate!
What those executives fail to mention is joe flaccos recievers. Joe has never had a number one receiver. And that 2012 was not an anomoly. Joe has done this nearly every post season. If lee evans catches that pass, we would have two super bowls. Joe doesnt have a megatron or antonio Brown or DT. He works with was he has.
"Go build a museum"? Really? Basically saying that under him, there will never be a Baltimore team. Well look at Baltimore now. Redskins have been irrelevant for the last two decades. Ravens own ALL of MD.
People say that we need Reggie incase Steve gets injured but where does that leave Reggie if Steve doesnt get injured? A backup? If he iant a backup then he'll be taking valuable reps from our young guys. We dont need Reggie period. I have faith in marlon Brown/ kamar Aiken and Perriman even of Steve Smith gets injured.
Reggie Wayne said he's talked to several teams... Think we're one of 'em?
No, not at all. Lets these young guys showcase.
That's like saying take away Ray Lewis' tackles made beyond the line of scrimmage, he wasn't much. LOL! Players make plays on the field. Granted, you need good coaches to coach up developmental guys and scheme both for and during games, but the players are the ones who have to execute the X's and O's. Yes, you've got to hand it to Bellicheat for knowing to throw like crazy vs. us in the playoffs then turn around and run like crazy vs. the Colts, but his players (especially Brady against us), had to make the plays happen. I dislike Brady as much as the next non-Patriots fans, but you can't honestly diminish or deny his consistent success at winning games from the QB position. Now you can argue that I can't deny Bellicheat's success either, which I certainly cant...but I'll stick by my notion that it's had to do more with Brady than him, regardless of Cassell's one fluke year.
Didnt say I was dimnishing or denying anything about Brady. I said hes overrated. Hes not the best quarterback the NFL has ever seen. He relies heavily on those short passes that make the recievers get all his yards. Hes a good quarterback, dont get me wrong, he makes great reads and is smart but hes overrated. Your opinion about how Brady is making belicheat look good is your opinion just how I think Tom Brady is overrated. Belicheat is a smart coach.. You cant deny that.
I think i read DT wants 15mil a year. Thats outrageous. He might just be a product of Peyton Manning. Both Bryant AND Thomas have both reportedly turned down offers that average over $12M/yr. We're tight against the cap now - can you imagine what the offseason would like like trying to get the Bryant deal done too? Those kind of numbers almost guarantee he wouldn't be getting a second contract from the Ravens.
Apparently, both receivers are looking at Megatron's contract as a starting point rather than the exception (thanks Detroit!), so it will be interesting to see how these contracts pan out. If Perriman tuns out to be a stud, we may be looking at some huge numbers in four years anyway (hopefully without the drama - Breshad seems to be a pretty grounded and humble kid).
Theres still time for us to sign them. I think one of them will get done before the regular season and thats probably Tucker..Ravens learned that no one on our team deserved to be placed on the tag this year. However next year is a whole new year what with Tucker, Yanda and or/ K.O not willing to sign this year...
This! Why wouldnt you want to face your opponents best? If we faced every team with one of their stars injured, how do you know how good we are? I dont want no excuses for this season. We have a better roster than 31 other teams in the NFL and I have total confidence in our team as a whole. People saying they hope DT is out don't have any pride in the ravens. I hope DT does play because I know he isnt gonna be doin much.I wouldn't be upset if he sat out- but knowing we beat them with their best gives us a better guage to determine how good we really are- and will also keep our secondary battle tested down the stretch.
I tried telling JoeyFlex5 that Tom doesnt have a deep ball and Tom's overrated. Like Tannehill. He went on a long rant why Tom is a beast. If you take away those short throws then he isnt much. The Patriots went 11-5 with Matt Cassel. The next year, with Brady, they went.....11-5. Brady is far more overrated than Belichick. Brady "won" 3 SBs with game manager stats. He's never been able to make tough throws consistently, but he's almost always put in situations where he can get quick, easy completions and cover up his weaknesses. That's a sign of great coaching. Until last year, when he got to take advantage of a bunch of injury depleted defenses, Brady never did much in the postseason. It was the defense shutting down Warner's Rams and Manning's Colts(with help from cheating) that were the main factors in their SBs.
I hope he does play. I have total confidence in us.I know we have another 2 months before the season but I'm praying that DT holds out and sits out a couple games, or at least the 1st one so that we wont have to worry about him in Denver
True but were you a fan before the Flacco era? We had some pretty tough seasons. Even when Joe retires, as long as we have ozzie/ decosta and or Harbaugh I think we'll be in pretty good shape. It took us two seasons to "rebuild" or whatever term you want to use. We did it quietly and turned over most of the Super Bowl roster. Manybother teams take years.i wouldnt say loyal, i would say fanatic as opposed to just fans.
cant claim loyalty until that loyalty is tested.
we'll see how the fans respond when the flacco era comes to a close and we face a few years of mediocrity/cellar dwelling. ive develloped an emotional bond with this team, i couldnt imagine ever a time where im not itching for some ravens football and even if were guaranteed to lose ill still watch with passion, but the way i hear so many ravens fans talk about the team, i dont know if we could expect the same from them
That is extremely impressive when you consider we are small market like others have pointed out. Steelers ranking 14th was surprising, they're fans in Pennsylvania are die hard like we are but their "fans" around the country almost always have no ties to Pittsburgh and are just bandwagoners.
Exactly what I was saying. Teams like Cowboys, Steelers etc travel alot more than we do because alot of them are bandwagoners.
I was at that game. That stadium was rockin. People were throwin stuff on the New England sideline.
Just goes to show how loyal us ravens fans are. We have one of the smallest population cities and we dont travel too well bjt we're still in top 5. Feels good to be a ravens fan every day.
I can definitly see the Raiders and Chiefs but I think the Jags are gonna take a little longer. It seems whenever Pittsburgh loses a QB or WR, they always replace them quickly. Kordell Stewart, Tommy Maddox, Ben Roethlisberger, Holmes, Mike Wallace, and now Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton and a couple other young studs. The defense is horrid but Steelers draft well for defense. I would never say the Steelers will fall off. The Colts seem to ignore the defense which is weird because of Chuck Pagano but their offense is rediculous. An aging Frank Gore won't help them but T.Y. Hilton and Philip Dorset will be huge. The Colts will always be a good team but won't win a championship until they pay attention to their defense. What wins championships isnt a potent offense or defense.. It's balance. Jaguars are doing all the right things but it seems they can never catch a break. I see the Ravens, Steelers, Raiders, Patriots and Colts being the main contenders of the AFC for years to come. Oh yea, I know this is way off topic but I also see Marvin Lewis getting canned by seasons end after they either make the wildcard and lose or don't make the playoffs at all.I don't think the steelers and chargers QBs will be retiring in 3-5 years. And I don't think the colts are building their team well at all. They have Luck whicj will put them in contention but they are doing virtually nothing else right. I think the teams to watch out for are the Jaguars and Chiefs.
Yes, it is short. I take what Haloti said as a punch in the gut but at the same time he probably hated Dean Pees bend but dont break defense. If he was referring to Pees type of defense, then ok.. But if he was referring to the Suggs, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Peter Boulware, Trevor Pryce, Chris Mcalister, Samari Rolle defense, then I dont understand it.I wrote that they enjoyed "getting out of the shadow of the Ravens defenses' reputation." I did not say they did well afterwards on the playing field. They thought they might do well in another system, thus they "enjoyed" leaving, but not necessarily what happened after they arrived smewhere else. The list of those who enhanced their own reputatin by leaving is very short.

Guys, melvin was on a practice squad and went undrafted. He played pretty damn well considering. The person who said he will never be relevant obviously hasnt watched Melvin enough to fairly judge him. What people fail to realize is that Melvin was pushed into the fire at a young age with barely any game time experience. As a starter! If hes this good now, just wait until he gets the proper coaching and mechanics down. Hes definately got the size. Imagine him and Jimmy Smith. That would probably be the two tallest duo CB's. I didnt want this post to be this long but cmon give Melvin some time. If he played that well for a new team with no game time experience then he will be alot better. Just watch.
