  1. Let's add a little more to the circumstances.  Melvin was an undrafted Free Agent for Tampa Bay who spent his first year there on IR due to a "Hamstring".  He made the team in year 2 but was released by the Bucs after week 2.  He was signed to the Dolphins Practice Squad and there we "poached" him.

We were in a bind for corners last year and Melvin was considered the answer.  He was carved up like a Thanksgiving Turkey in the Divisional Round.  He had no resume to indicate such a performance was truly out of character.

He's from my alma mater but I won't forgive or forget.  If he's on the corner this coming year, fuhghedaboutit.  Don't worry though, barring everyone going down again, he won't be.

Some players need more time to grow. Jimmy smith? Not all players can go to a new team and be thrown into the fire like that and succeed. He had one bad game. Against tom brady. Enough said. Thank god you arent a coach or GM. It was his fifth game. I dont care how many practice squads hes been on. Those arent real gametime experience. I cant wait til he shows up this year. You keep bringng up that one game and thats it. How many games did he play for us? Ok then. Enough said.

  2. Hmmmm......I don't know. How do you turn away from a 200 yard 2 Touchdown debacle. If Melvin Toast has to play as a "1", we are in trouble.

And zero is what he offered in the Divisional Playoff Game, playing 10 yards off for the most part. At least you're not offering opinion that he is of starter caliber. Still, he was targeted and his ability was illustrated. If we have to rely upon him, it will not be a satisfying season.

    Really?

I only comment when im serious.

  3. Aren't they? I mean you're right that non of them are in the Elam-Urban ball park, but missing an entire season is close to as bad as it gets injury wise so you can't really compare those injuries.

But Perriman, who was supposed to miss couple of days, has now missed almost over a week. Considering it's a knee injury, I'm getting a bit worried. Brown had a back issue. Now the back is solved, they say he has another problem with hamstring. He has also been out for almost a week. If it was regular season then it would mean both of those guys would have most likely missed a game. That is generaly considered a problematic tendency already.

Now, Maxx's eye. Usually when you get poked in the eye you take a time out, wash it off and get back into the game. The fact that he missed several days and had a temporary loss of vision in injured eye prior to rejoining practices... I mean, if loss of sight isn't serious, then I don't know what you consider serious, dude!

Bottom line is, we have lost 2 depth players for the year and 3 potential starters are sitting out for nearly a week. That's already too meany too long injuries for my liking. But that's me you know, I like my players healthy and practicing out there.

Just wait until the pre season starts and everybody will be playing. Like i said, Harbs likes to rest players. Im sure Maxx is fine and you shouldnt worry about it neither. He got pomed in the eye. Not an acl tear.

  4. "Concerning that Breshad Perriman is missing practice" hope Perriman gets well soon but he is the future and gotta wait his turn! He can bust out on the seen later in the season and Wreak Havoc with glimpses of what's in store for now and the future! Triple " S ", Marlon and Kamar are up to the bat now! Let's do this!

Except marlon just underwent an MRI for a back injury so who knows how long he'll be out. So yea, we need Breshad to be a difference maker early in the season. We don't have the time to "bust out later".

  5. This team is really sharp. Can't wait for the preseason to start to see how this team looks. P.S. I wonder how Seattle pay all their top players like 10 of them under contract? They just sign Bobby Wagner to a 4 year 43M dollar extension. I don't know how Seattle does it. If they somehow fit all of them under the salary cap in the next few years, than they do a better job signing contracts then we do and be better than Ozzie but I doubt it. Nobody's better than the Wizard those big contracts will come back to bite them in the future.

Dont worry. Seattle is going have to let go of alot of players. They had a young team but once they sign all their players, we'll be seeing an overhaul soon.

  6. I had him as a 3rd round talent. So i was underrating him a bit also.

Hater. And why arent you a scout? Cant sand people like this. Ozzie and 31 other GM's passed on brown multiple times until the sixth round. Teams passed on ray lewis, ed reed, haloti ngata, cj mosley, joe flacco, ray rice, marshal yanda, kelechi osemele etc. It happens every year and its impossible not to skip great talent.

  7. I don't have him in my personal top 5 but I'd love for him to prove me wrong and force himself into my top 5 and everyone else's top 5.To me he's not that far away from being there. He just needs to get those int's up.

How can he get interceptions if quarterbacks dont throw his way? I feel just as good about jimmy playing lockdown that his receivers dont have any seperation. Take the number one receiver out of the game will do wonders for the rest of our secondary.

  8. This is what Wikipedia has to say about Rashaad...

"Melvin made his debut on December 14, 2014. In his first game, he was a pleasant surprise on the Ravens' hobbled secondary, recording 5 tackles and 1 pass deflected. In his first start the next week, Melvin continued his success, recording 8 tackles and a forced fumble. In week 17 against the Cleveland Browns, Melvin had 4 tackles.

However, this success would not carry into the playoffs. On January 10, 2015 against the New England Patriots, Melvin allowed 12 catches on 15 passes thrown his way, giving up 224 yards and two touchdowns, according to Pro Football Focus."

As 2nd year CB, he needs as much TLC from us as we gave Jimmy Smith in his first 2 years. The kid has potential.

Its funny how some people try to knock Rashaan because he reminds me strongly of Jimmy Smith. Rashaan has a ton of potential and I think one more season nder his belt and Webb's below average play will put Rashaan into the Ravens second starting corner. Jimmy and Rashaan would be a lethal combo if Melvin continues to get better.

  9. This guy has stud potential but all people will see is his drops in college and his 4.25 speed and thing the Ravens toi a chance on a speed guy to replace Torrey. Perriman has top of the line talent and the speed is just a part of his game. I see Trestman using Perriman to attack every level of the defense. I think of all our recent OCs that Trestman will be the perfect guy to utilize Perriman's full potential.

I hope so also. Hopefully Trestman wont make everyone situational players like our OC's in the past. I want to see Perriman running a full route tree during games. Not just go routes and run as fast as he can.

  10. Yea it was reported on this site I believe that he had a solid camp. He didn't make as many flashy plays as Gillmore but that he caught everything thrown his way many for first downs.

I think it has mostly to due with expectation vs what was shown. Maxx was expected to make catches so simply doing that doesn't stand out as much as Gillmore or Boyle who were mainly known as blockers but were making big catches.

So that's what got focused on in reports but Maxx performed to expectation. Definitely room to imporve but he was solid and did what he could with the targets he got

This! Im getting tired of people riding the hype train on Boyle. The only reason it sounds like he has an awesome camp or maybe better than Maxx has everything to do with expectations. The reason Boyle is getting so much praise is because hes a later round pick and many wetent expecting him to do much. People were more surprised even though Boyle only caught a few balls, hes slower then Maxx, horrid route runner with decent hands. A 7th rounder who catches a fee passes will always get much better reports than a 2nd rounder just doing whats asked of him.

  11. Honestly I think you are stretching hard on comparing him to Heath but I to can hope that he reaches that point but I just cant see it. As the main receiving option at tight end I do not see him having better numbers then even Owen Daniels had last year. He just is not a mismatch in the way that Pitta is or in the way that Williams can be once he gets a real NFL body,

I would also not even consider that a waste of a 3rd round pick if he merely turns out to be one of the best blocking tight ends in the league who can also occasionally catch passes thrown his way and is a secondary threat in the redzone.

Gilmore is going to be a stud. I just have a strong feeling about him. Hes doing all the right things and hes got good hands. How is he not a mismatch at 6'6" 275 pounds? He can box out anybody on defense. I can definately see him surpassing Owen Daniels numbers from last season. Joe loves his TE's. Gilmore is definately a sleeper.
