The writing is on the wall for the '16 Ravens. You can ignore it all you want. We are significantly more likely to get lumped in with the Browns than with the Bengals and Steelers.
Tell this board which members of the current Ravens squad you would trade for, if you were the GM of Cincy or Pittsburgh. Would you trade Leveon Bell for Justin Forsett? Would you swap AJ Green for Chrs Givins? How about this...would you trade Big Ben to get Joe Flacco?
just incase your not a troll; Brandon Williams, Marshall Yanda, Jimmy Smith, we have corner pieces and like others have said the team finished 14th in offense and 8th in defense with the final 8 weeks being 2nd best defense in yards allowed. this team isn't that far off we need to be healthy which no team can guarantee. Add players in the draft which should allow for impact players with us picking 6th in every round plus upcoming comp picks.I don't how people think we are the browns.. with one losing season while setting an NFL record for loses less than 8 points and having 20+ people on IR. fix turnover ratio and stay healthy this is easily a playoff team like it always has been.
once the team extends/ reworks flacco's contract everything else will fall into place. Basically everything hinges on that in my opinion as it is the easiest, clearest way to open up 8+ million in CAP room. in addition I think we can expect Daryl Smith, Canty, and Kendrick lewis cut. if we can extend Joe on a similar deal with the first 3 years being a little higher this time I think we are great shape.
Tucker gets a deal just below what Gostkowski got paid. 4 years 17.2mil is what Gostkowski got. You just structure it right with the bonus money so 2016 cap is minimally affected.
Players that are cut in my opinion:
- Canty
- Daryl Smith
- Kendrick Lewis
- Unfortunately Forsett.
all these post June 1 cut comments sound great but you cant sign free agents with that money and you need 4-5million for signing drafted players also which is where the June 1 cuts could be done for that possibly, not sure on that.
Biggest factor is Joe's contract that needs to be redone/ extended and lets all hope Cap goes up higher than projected.
so I guess we should throw it 50 times a game what's our record when we do that all I'm saying is right now we have a rookie who is good in Allen a 2nd year back in LT who has played in fewer games than he has missed and a guy in West who has more teams played for than years in the league. I want a guy who I know what I'm getting Forsett is a good runner receiver and blocker an all around back who is a great leader in the locker room and a Guy who helps the younger guys. Should we also get rid of Suggs he is owed a lot of money or Dumervil a lot of money and didnt perform to the contract where do you draw the line.
I don't think anyone is arguing what he can do but push comes to shove with the CAP number for next season Forsett has little money in bonus so cutting him clears 2.3 million in cap where as cutting other players like you mention would result in more dead money therefore less value in cutting than keeping. Other than the 10 or so Great RB's the rest are very replaceable in this league as shown this season with them all hurt and replaced fairly well.
the comments in that article say everything you need to know.
I like Forsett but if Joe doesn't restructure/ get extension Forsett is easily cut due to his almost all base salary equaling 2.3m off the cap. With how high we draft this year we could grab a top back in the 2nd or 3rd round plus Allen has proven to be effective as well with a lot of promise. Personally I would like Forsett, West, Allen but I could see LT being kept over West.
Well this Sunday removed some of the pain of this season. Especially if the Jets and Broncos take care of business to keep Pitt out.
so just how things are falling appears Tunsil isn't out of the question as Titans would likely take Bosa and Browns don't really need a LT maybe they do a browns and take a QB or Nassib?
I really hope Ravens win but common sense says otherwise. that offense vs. our secondary?... unless we get some monster pass rush going it could be bad.. they just put 34 on Denver, some consider the best D in the league this season.. plus you know Steelers fans will be buying every ticket on the market might be close to a home game for them.
I hope the 1 score streaks keeps going this will be out toughest test yet. Going to need a huge game from Buck and West keep the ball out of Seattle's hands as I don't want us throwing very much at all with a banged up Schaub vs Sherman that's a pick 6 waiting to happen and Clausen behind center.
Cant get rid of Monroe we have to much money tied up in him. Hope the trend changes on him barely playing.
Monroe- Urschel- Zuttah- yanda- wagner isn't a bad o-line by any means plus we can draft players as well.
Lambeau uses under ground pipe heating, Kentucky Blue grass with Desso grassmaster fiber in the soil to keep it together give the grass roots support. should be able to replicate to what is needed here. Hopefully it can reduce the volume of injuries we have seen.
if he is better or even maybe he can be top 10 at FS a position we have tried to fill unsuccessfully since Reed left why on earth wouldn't we be playing him there... I don't care if his pride says he wants to be CB this team needs a FS.
well I think i'm going to just watch the games on Sundays and ignore anything media wise from now on. This season is a dumpster fire.
Harbaugh stays, Trestman stays.
Pees is a wildcard, no idea what will happen with him. Ideally, I think he gets fired. Probably some positional coaching changes, but I personally think they rarely have any impact. Positional coaches change annually in this league and fans never mention their name or even acknowledge their existence until things are going poorly.
Defensively, we certainly need at least 2-3 quality players, and obviously the offense lacks talent at the skill positions.
Exactly my feelings, plus I wouldn't mind one season where we keep some continuity in the coaches the turnover the last 3 years has been very frustrating and not beneficial. I mean the offense is scoring and moving the ball decently with the talent we have which isn't much to speak of on the skill positions.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they didn't do any coaching changes. Teams needs more talent not new coaches. We have not been blown out or not in any game this year its a special circumstance that has never happened in NFL history being so close to winning any of these games but with bad luck and stupidity, resulting in finding ways to lose them. Need players to make plays not drop passes, grab face masks, fall over each other on easy tackles that's on the players not the coaches.
Harbaugh has to go. I'm convinced the NFL executives blame Harbaugh for inflating Deflate Gate. You can see with the calls. Ross was down before he fumbled. Johnson was down, his forward progress was stopped. That was not pass interference on Fitz by Web. Maybe we can get a good draft and bring Harbaugh back next season but will the NFL execs forgive him in that time?
Is that you Dave from Salisbury?
Maybe someone can enlighten me about the defense. I know we lack receivers on the offensive side of the ball but for the most part, they do their job.
From what ive seen and my opinion as strictly a fan. It looks like there is no communication. we still lack a true free safety that can make the right adjustments for coverage and cover over the top. We don't have a solid #2 corner and jimmy hasn't been doing enough consistently. secondary just cant prevent the big play and I don't think the pass rush has been that great most of our sacks and pressures are from ILB blitzing.
were back to 2010 with no speed and seperation at WR that's why Perriman was so important. Atleast 2010 had a defense.
wow to the cutting flacco talk.
Lets go ahead if you really want to set this franchise back a decade to come. this is a passing league now we need some more receivers. Forsett is in the top 5 rushing yards right now and were still 1-5. we need to improve defense and keep the offense while adding some speed. the FO counted on having Perriman on the field to at least replace the missing deep threat of Torrey that hasn't happened and now we have Aiken at No.2 WR and no speed at WR. its a bad year we have injuries we need to take this destined 6-10 or worse season and draft well and we right back into the playoff mix next year. I mean look at Atlanta they go 6-10 4-12 draft franchise LT and OLB plus other pieces freeman, coleman they didn't cut Matt Ryan after looking bad due to lack of players around him without Julio Jones and a bad defense. you keep the core and build were still building from 2012 we barely made the playoffs last year this team is building still and the cap didn't help this year along with 12 people on IR already.
Since the complete roster turnover post 2012 season. We have a less than .500 record including this 1-5 start. from the 6 straight playoff years and superbowl we have 4-5 players from that team, one of them on IR now. we have not been replacing what we have lost over the last 4 years and we have not drafted well enough to replace the losses it is as simple as that. The ray rice situation has drastically affected this team both in plays missing on the field to the Dead money that could have kept Ngata or even Torrey in town. Ozzie has a chance to draft in the top 20 again the way its going maybe top 10 and he is always hitting on those players. This can be a down year where we build to hit our stride again i've been very critical of this teams drafting lately we haven't been able to get a RB in the middle rounds like other teams seem to do. Pierce, Talifero. CB has been a wiff outside Smith for a few years also. Lets hope Perriman can heal and actual contribute next year like the team counted on him doing this year.
Flacco is signed through 2018 I believe with this being the first shocker at a cap hit of 28mil. hopefully we can extend maybe add a few more years and get the cap back down again to add some players we need. with all the dead money we would have he isn't going anywhere and we are not trading our superbowl MVP QB you don't just find those laying around and we definitely not cutting him. Need to rework/ extend his deal which Im pretty sure was the game plan going into this with how back loaded the deal was to begin with.
Well the Lions have Stafford and Johnson.
Raiders had Asomugha
Browns had Josh Gordon.
All top level talent pro bowlers at one time or another. Where are their Super Bowl rings?
What Seahawks wideout made the pro bowl the past two seasons?
Seahawks traded for Lynch pro bowl RB, drafted Wilson in the 3rd and have drafted a ton of probowl defensive talent in the secondary and some weren't even the top rounds. something we have not done once again in the last 5-6 years. Elam, Smith, Upshaw, Kindle, Cody, etc list goes on we haven't drafted well enough I don't what to tell you. Each draft we seem to barely hit and by hit get players to just play not be consistent or even remotely game changing talents, we draft 2-3 If that, players that standout to us because we watch the ravens but don't really make noise beyond that. Name me a player outside Mosely that you can say is a consistent elite talent player that we have drafted in the last 5 years...... I'll be waiting.
The jury is out on the 2015 draft but before that:
2014: Mosley in the first and Jernigan in the second. I'd consider those to be hits.
2013: yeah, two misses
2012: KO in the second who helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl, and helped nearly get them back there last year.
2011: Jimmy Smith and Torrey Smith, both hits.
Still far better than most teams in the league.
I said 5-6 years we have drafted 1 pro bowler in those years. 2010 was a complete bust as well. and 2009 we don't have either of those players on the team.

with them losing those key guys should allow the defense an easier gameplan. issue has always been the offense bengals defense doesnt appear to be same as previous years hopefully we can get something going.
