I listened to former Ravens player personnel head Phil Savage on the radio talking about the Ravens draft and he said something that made me wonder. He pointed out that when he was here through coaches Marchibroda and Billick, the coaches had little or no input into personnel decisions regarding the draft. Ozzie and his player personnel and scouts assembled the team and then the coaches coached. Now he said, Harbaugh has a lot of input, wants to know how players will be on special teams if they are drafted and basically is heavily involved in the drafting and free agent processes now. Harbaugh came in 2008. His first draft that he had a lot of input into was 2009. You know what I am going to say next. The Ravens have had only one pro bowl draft pick from 2009 to present, the entire time Harbaugh has been here and that has been 7 years. Prior to Harbaugh, the Ravens averaged one pro bowl pick every two years and never went more than 3 years without one. We have now gone 8 with only one. I think it is time for Bisciotti to step in, like he said he would do if we continued to fail, and delineate responsibilities again and lets have our coaches concentrate on coaching especially when we have time management issues, time out issues, play issues, talent evaluation issues, etc... Lets get back to coaches coaching and personnel people making personnel decisions and see if it makes a difference. The Ravens are high on analytics and data and that data tells me it is time for Bisciotti to make a change and for Ozzie to take back control of ALL personnel decisions.
If you follow that logic then Eric DeCosta has been given more and more influence in the draft over the same time period. are you going to take DeCosta out of it as well?
Maybe he's the next DC.
I keep hearing rumors that Chuck Pagano is on the hot seat. If he gets the boot in Indianapolis maybe we can get him back.
I like this way of seeing it. I'm gonna see it this way too.
I think ultimately with a few outlier exceptions like Kindle (which btw, I don't think was his fault that he had that freak accident), Elam and Clayton, with Ozzie you do get what you invest in.
Whenever Perriman's knee does cure, we're still looking at a guy with the frame of an Andre Johnson but the straight-line speed of Chris Johnson. If we stay patient we may find later in the season that he was well worth the 1st round investment.
Where would the Ravens be if they had cut Jimmy Smith his first two years as a bust like everyone wanted.
So as a fan since 1996....when are we going to get tired of the joe flacco hype?... I don't care if I get 1000 thumbs down. We need to be sick of his play, and overall decision making. You got paid 120 million dollars to be mediocre at best. He is way too inconsistent for my taste and I'm sick of watching the bs! Suggs out for the season really put the icing on the cake for me today. Expect a long season while our defense busts it's butt for 60 minutes everywhere. Meanwhile elsewhere in buffalo, where Tyrod Taylor showed the type of qb I always knew he could be.. Good for him.
If you get rid of Joe Flacco who would you get that's any better? How long have teams like the Browns and the redskins been looking for a QB? What kind of record do those teams have?
DAG-NABBIT I wish we could have had SSS play his whole career as a Raven. I am going to miss him after this season.
My thoughts exactly!!
Enjoyed the call very much. Flacco is much smarter and more articulate than many people give him credit for. Forsett (and Smith) had me laughing out loud.
Sounds like a really fun call. Was it recorded so the rest of us can enjoy it?
I **DO** like Flacco's hair. Much more attractive on him than the buzz cuts he has been sporting. It makes him look less like an overgrown kid.
I guess this settles the debate. Joe Flacco's hair is elite!
HAHA! I love that! Best post of the day.
Pay them no mind, it is just the Patriots propaganda machine at work, they are everywhere these days. lol
Mixed in with a few Steelers fans. One identified him/her self as a Steelers fan.
I have been reading comments to posts concerning the debates on news websites. I see a lot of comments about "Cry Baby Joe" and I think "Really?? Flacco? Cry Baby? Look at Brady's on field dramatics, watch Joe **THEN** see who the Cry Baby is." Sadly all they see are the stories about the Ravens complaining about the balls in deflategate and the complaints about the ineligible receivers in eligible jerseys without the facts and all of a sudden the Ravens are cry babies.
I wanna go!!! :-(
No, just like Ray Rice & Adrian Peterson, Brady cannot play until the court makes their decision (basically overturning the suspension). Until that time, he's at home (insert joke here).
I stand corrected. Maybe I was thinking of baseball.
If they uphold the decision and it goes to court is it then he is suspended and will have to get an injunction to play? And if they go to court i wonder if they realize at that point the NFL can subpoena for texts and that could damage Bradys case. Maybe this is Brady trying to threaten but doesnt realize that he could damage his own case.
I believe that if Tom brady goes to court he can play until the court renders a decision.
Am I the only one that feels more for Pitta's health than how many balls he can catch. It would really hurt to see him go down again. But at the same time it would hurt to see his career crumble like that. I wish him the best of luck.
No you aren't the only one. I feel the same way as do I suspect many others. My guess, and it is purely a guess, is that Pitta is healthy enough to live a normal non-football life but whether he can live a football life is questionable. I think if the Ravens were honest nobody really knows whether Dennis can or should play football again. Two consecutive hips injuries to the same hip is uncharted waters. No disrespect intended, I don't know if the medical staff have a clue what look for as signs whether Dennis is ok or not to play football.
I just am happy Brady did not retire because we have unfinished business with him.
I like the way you think!!
I put my request in. Hopefully this is my year.
It wasn't. ![]()
I just imagine him saying something to Joe then cringes waiting the Cutler-like response he is used to.
Maybe that is why they get along so well. Trestman can actually have an adult conversation with Joe.
I try this every year and never win. Hopefully this is the year!
You and me both!
I put my request in. Hopefully this is my year.
The Ravens are really making me sad. I never attended training camps when they where at McDaniel because it just wasn't practical for me. When they started the practices At Annapolis I went and loved it. The last year they moved it from Sunday afternoon to Monday nights. I live in Harford county. I go into work early and get off late therefore for me to attend the night practices I would have to take half a day off Monday to get there on time and half a day on Tuesday because I would be late getting back Monday night. I recently had friends move to Annapolis so I was thinking about taking a day and a half off to see the practice and visit my friends. Guess what? The Ravens aren't having practice at Annapolis.
I'll put my name in the Training Camp lottery but my luck usually isn't good at lotteries. Oh well, at least I have memories of years past.
(End of Pity Party) You may resume your regularly scheduled comment reading and writing.
Oh man. I don't know how to feel. I'd like to see Pitta back, of course. But I'm scared that he hurts the hip again and then it is permanent. He's too good a guy to have to live with that fore the rest of his life.
I hear you. The flip side of the story is between Glimore and the two TE picked up in the draft . They could rotate TEs and Pitta would not be on the field continuously. That would spare some wear and tear on the hip.
I am so disappointed that Webb is moving his charity softball game away from Ripkin stadium. I went last year, really enjoyed it and was looking forward to it this year. I don't like driving into Baltimore so I guess I won't be going. :-(
Adam Schefter reports: Former Texans HC Gary Kubiak has emerged as favorite for Ravens OC job. Kubiak and Rick Dennison met Sunday in Baltimore w/ Ravens officials
Ravens trying to assemble star-studded offensive coaching staff with Gary Kubiak, Rick Dennison, Kyle Shanahan.
Wow! Talk about a roller coaster. This is really getting crazy!
Hummmm.... it sounds like CSI: Baltimore (maybe I should rename it CSI:Ravens) might have a surprise ending. Stay tuned Ravens fans.

There are 16 games in a season. Sluggs played and was injured game #1. Suggs was placed on IR meaning he would not return in the 2015 season. 16-1=15. At the end of the season Suggs will have missed 15 games.
