The Ravens' Brass should take into consideration that Joe excels with good protection. Any money Joe sacrifices for the "team" should directly be spent on his behalf. We won a Super Bowl with our best O line in recent years. All Joe Flacco did was return the favor by playing as good as a great Hall of Famer...Joe Montana
Just as an FYI......just because a player restructures a contract, doesn't necessarily mean he "sacrifices" any money. In fact, it usually means just the opposite.
Allen was the "stating" RB in week 15? Must be a new position.
He signed a 5 year 37.5 million dollar contract after the 2013 season. He has 3 years left on the contract.
That is not an extension.
Where have you been? They gave him a huge contract which he has not lived up too. He isn't even worth what we traded for him. Work out warrior but always hurt. Only year he played well was half of 2013. Sucked otherwise. Sorry, Oz made a huge mistake signing him as if he were a top 10 left tackle in the league. Not sure if they will cut him this year because of the dead money? Add him to the list of bad trades and bad draft picks and there you have the 2015 Ravens.
So, you are saying they signed him to an extension, then(?) You have details on this extension?
I noticed that error as well as the Hargreaves/Alexander comparison (ain't looked up to see who actually is bigger yet), typos happen but shouldn't when listing stats lol
Yes, typos do happen, but when someone does this (or writing sports articles, for that matter) you don't expect to see them. It is, after all, what they do for a living.
Eric Galko......pertaining to Shaq Lawson......first he says Lawson is 6'3", 270. Then he goes on to say he's 6'6", 280. So, I looked it up and found a site claiming he is 6'4", 260. LOL is all I have to say. I guess we will have to wait for the Combine to find out.
The Ravens signed Monroe to an extension? I wasn't aware of or recall that. (Dane Brugler)
"after spending his entire life up to that point on that the West Coast"? Translation, please?
I know he had a great season , but the best in the league ? And if we retain KO we will be in even worse shape in FA.. I just don't see it happening..unless we cut Monroe and he takes a friendly hometown deal.
Even if he gets cut, there's still a lot of dead money to deal with. Sure, some of that could be offset w/a new, lower salary, but why would he do that? Sorry, that makes no sense. Nice try, though.
What if Ozzie & crew proposed a draft pick trade to the Packers for Eddie Lacy
Not much chance of that, I imagine. Personally, I am not a fan of his. He seems to turn it off and on when he feels like playing hard. Also, as much as I like the RB's we have, I do agree that it'd be nice to have a big bruiser for when we need him, which we don't have. I believe in the old adage that "the run game sets up the pass and the pass sets up the run". If teams don't fear your passing game, it's tough to get your run game going. The play calling (?)comes into play, also. When we become too predictable, it's tough to get going. I also think (sorry Flacco worshippers) that Joe needs to do a much better job of not staring down his receivers, which he does all the time. Oz and crew will do their best this off season. We need help in quite a few areas. It'll be fun reading all the "Crock" Drafts for the next few months.
Turnovers, or the lack thereof. Pretty much wraps up the season.
The NFL offseason "is increasingly become a season of it's own". Yet another article written by a fifth grader. One of many.
Nice to know the draft is the "mostly likely place" to find those players, Garrett. Or that a pass rusher might not be "worth worthy" of the #6 pick. Got it.
I agree that Frazier was a good addition. Solid guy w/lots of experience.
BIO.... I don't disagree with you and I know that in today's NFL you need a franchise QB. I believe that is accurate with 27 or 28 teams in todays NFL. I also believe that the Ravens are the exception to that rule. We won our first SB with Trent Dilfer at QB...and a woeful offense. I know that was a different coach and system but the scheme is not that much different. We are a run first team, who passes to alleviate pressure from the run game. The formula was the same when we won our second SB. We are never going to be that team who wins off of QB play alone (Pats, GB, NO, SD, Pitt, etc). We really don't need that franchise QB we need a very good game manager. That's what Joe actually is! While I am not ready to lose Joe... (bc I don't know what we would get in return). I am not ready to mortgage the future to have a game manager now! If joe was a tom brady, aaron rodger, drew brees I get it... they will win games on their own. Joe is not that person and 28 million for a game manager is a trade off that I say is worth looking into what we (could) get for him???? We may look and find that what we get in return is not worth losing Joe but we may not? IF he don't re-negotiate- I say we start shopping..... Ohhh and by the way... a few GMs have done it successfully (RGIII was benched and that turned out well, Drew Bledsoe was traded away and a guy named Tom Brady replaced him, The chargers traded Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers turned out to be pretty darn good) I know and I can say that each had a replacement waiting in the wings... (IDK just don't think Joe is a great value at 28million and if not maybe need to see who else is available at a slightly lesser price tag and evaluating our options???
You may want to read up on the difference between a cap number and a salary, since you (and a few others)seem to not know the difference between the two. Joe will not make a $28 million salary this year. You may want to read up on what dead money is, too, while you're at it.
Glad for Ed Reed. It may just be a 1 year gig though. Remember that Rex Ryan was given another year even though rumors were he was going to be fired. If the Bills do not make the playoffs next season, he most likely will be fired and who's to say that the new coach will keep Ed Reed or any of the coaches for that matter.
Rex was given another year to make the playoffs, but he has a nice, long contract. He'll probably not make it again next year, then get fired and go fishing for three years while getting paid.
I can now tell it's the off season lol
Must be. This should confirm it.
So,are they going to pitch players who haven't developed, then? (Elam, A. Brown)
They could. Then, if history is a guide, they might go on to become stars w/their new respective teams. Just sayin'.......
I wish him lots of luck...against the Bengals and Steelers.
Not bad. I had to insert missing words in only a few places to comprehend what I was reading. Quite an improvement!!
Also - repeat offenders should be receiving fines a percentage of their yearly salary...increasing by 10% for every offense. 25K to a guy who made $3M last year (and stands to make another $8M over the next 2 years) is equivalent to the average joe taking his family out to dinner... Make it mean something, and he might just clean it up....
I agree. In addition, it might be time to start taking a serious look at ejecting players from games (way more often). I know the league doesn't want to do that, as it could remove game-deciding players from games and fans want to see the stars playing. Plus, it leaves a lot of judgement up to game officials when to actually eject someone. For now, all that ever happens is suspensions/fines. Something else needs to be done, as some fans feel the zebras let games get out of hand w/the fights, etc. I have a feeling it will be a topic of discussion at the Owners Meeting.
What is this article suposed to tell us after all?
Let us all know if and when you find out, Walter.
John......the Ravens haven't "sighed deeply about the fact Burfict got away from them". He got away from them? The team didn't WANT him. I doubt much "sighing" was done.
I wish you the best, Matt, but you may want to have a backup plan.....perhaps coaching.

I'm not sure where Hensley gets his pick numbers for us. First of all, I don't think the Pats get a round one pick (?) If that is right, our second pick should be #37 overall and the third one would be #69. Not sure if that is right, but was just wondering.
