I don't believe Tucker and the Ravens are trying to "work out a long term extension". He's going to be a free agent. It's tough to "work out an extension" w/a free agent, when their original contract is over. I suppose someone could consider a new contract before the old one actually expires as an "extension", but that essentially is still a new deal. Call it what you like, but giving Tucker a "long term extension" is not what we're talking about here. It's called a new deal. Maybe the author doesn't know the difference?

First, we'd have to find a team willing to make that deal and pay him what he wants. Then, we just eat all the dead money, too, I guess(?) Top all that off w/what it will now take to sign KO as a new franchise LT. Your plan is not quite that simple to pull off, but who knows?

That's pretty much how I feel. Although I do kind of like when new teams get to play big games. I get a bit tired of the same old teams (NE for example) being in the big games. I may be wrong, but I just have a feeling KC may go far. I'm kind of rooting for them. No particular reason, although I've always thought Reid was a good Head Coach. They also (I think) were 1-5 at one point earlier in the season and completely turned it around. I'll watch all the games and just keep looking forward to the Draft.

I agree w/what you are saying. However, Joe is not being paid $28.5 mill this year. It's his cap number, which is a bit different. Either way, I agree w/your main point.

I agree that he's a bit light for the position, but if they can make it work, I say keep what's working. Hanging around and picking the brain of the GOAT Ed Reed will be great, at least for the mental part of playing at that position.

The last contract the Ravens signed w/Pitta will go down in Team history as the absolute worst contract they ever signed w/any player. No other signing, no matter how stupid, will even come close. Ever.

Suggs is way more interested in making movies than playing football. The Ravens will pay him next season no matter what. 'Nuff said.

Probably not. As usual, the team will severely overpay him yet again and it will be settled. He'll make "the going rate", as some prefer to call it, as he should. The fact that the team will suffer by having other players walk after each year to help offset his salary means nothing. This obviously happens on other teams and barring anything happening to bring down sports salaries to somewhat reasonable levels (define reasonable), it's the way it is. I know all the Flacco Worshippers will hate to hear it, but folks, he's just not that good. Never has been and never will be. He's just an......Average Joe. On a good day. And I have no doubt whatsoever that his best days, performance-wise, are behind him. But, the Ravens will pay him. Yet again.

I like Tucker, also. However, paying that ridiculous salary for a kicker is crazy. I know, I know, people are going to neg like crazy. Too bad. The same people will be whining next year (count on it)as they watch, as always, some really good players waltz out the door because of "salary cap issues". This team has signed it's share of bad contracts through the years w/dead money ashes to show for it. Then we have to "settle" for over the hill rejects from other teams. Count on more of that, also. Not true. Every contract is different. You make a few valid points, but you are incorrect in some of it. A cap hit is a cap hit, regardless of what season it is applied. You don't "backload" a cap hit. That would assure dead money galore forever. I get what you are trying to say, but your terminology is not accurate.

I'd love to see him stay. As always, it'll come down to the numbers. He's been a solid, steady player for us and for that, most fans are surely grateful.

Stats like that can be deceiving. What are those seven teams' rankings in pass offense? Did they have their run games working and just threw the ball less? Either way, it all boils down to the W/L. But, I imagine you were inferring an improvement in the overall play of the pass defense and you are probably right.

I pretty much agree, it's just that potential dead money w/Monroe that we'd have to deal with if we cut him. I'd love to see KO back at LT and see us keep Upshaw. True, coverage is not his specialty. Two good players that "play like a Raven".

All practically meaningless points, considering neither QB played w/the same supporting cast. Plus, once a team, any team, fully realizes they are not going to the playoffs, the quality of play changes. Throw in the schedule differences as to what the quality of the opponent is from week to week and you are comparing apples to oranges to grapefruit.

As much as I haven't been all that thrilled w/the job Harbs has done the last two seasons, I do not believe for a second that he should be replaced. There are plenty of directions to look when wondering how to get the Raven Ship moving in the right direction again. If, after next season, things are the same, that will change. Ozzie should retire and I hope he does. Not to assign blame on him either, it's just that I think it's time and we have a fine and well qualified replacement for him who has waited patiently for his chance.
