  1. I never said that the referees were favoring the teams either way, but I was saying that Shazier's hit was totally illegal and I'm happy that you can own it.

Referees are going to have a big impact on each game. How many penalties did the Steelers commit that gave the Bengals a first down? That's the important one, to me

Keep moving the pylon. Its not that important to me.

  2. I'm a Ravens fan, so I naturally hate both teams and you're a Steelers fan, but you want to talk to me about being objective? My irony radar is going off.

And I never said Burficht shouldn't be flagged because that is the rule. I just didn't see the dirty intent to knock him out cold. However, the Shazier hit was illegal and should have been flagged.

And for what it's worth with the Burficht hit, I hope Brown is doing well. I remember saying back in 2011, very early in the year, that Brown would be far better than Wallace and Sanders because he had insane work ethic and dedication to being a strong route runner. I got laughed at by my managers at work. Now who's laughing

I think I was wrong about the Shazier hit. So i will own that. But the "objective" statement was about the flags for the whole game. Here are the penalty totals: Steelers 10 for 142 yards....Bengals 8 for 79. So before those last two flags in the final 18 seconds it was 6 for 49. Most of the flags were on the Steelers. Without penalties, the Bengals would never have scored that first TD and gotten back in the game. Without an inadvertent whistle, Shazier scores a TD. So, in spite of your irony radar....I will stand by the "objective observers " statement. The refs DID NOT remotely favor the Steelers in that game. And they did not hand them the game. The Bengals had numerous opportunities to win that thing.

  3. In regards to Shazier's hit on Bernard causing the fumble.  Penalty all the way:

ARTICLE 8. INITIATING CONTACT WITH THE CROWN OF THE HELMET.

It is a foul if a runner or tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players are clearly outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle to tackle and from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team’s end line). Incidental contact by the helmet of a runner or tackler against an opponent shall not be a foul.

Interesting. Will have to take a second look at the whole section.

  4. Id like to see that game, actually is manning officially the denver playoff QB? d rather face him than osweiler if I were you guys.

Well, Burfict singlehandly assassinated our three best weapons: Bell, Brown and Ben....so unless  we get guys back it won't matter which one we face...but yes, Manning doesn't really scare me...their defense does.

  5. Happens to the Bengals (except it's helmet to helmet): Just a really unfortunate, clean hit.

Happens to the Steelers: So unnecessary and flagrant. He needs to control his emotions.

    Have to love(?) the commentators.

Read the NFL rule book. Commentators were right about both. Whether you like the rule or not, it was properly enforced. And there is no way an objective observer can say that the flags were weighted for Pittsburgh. Burfict bought and paid of the loss and Lews is responsible for allowing the climate.

  6. well, yeah.  First time in a long time though there's a chance to repeat #1.  Kinda cool it happens at #50.

Agree. BTW, we are starting Toussaint on Saturday, a guy who had a cup of coffee with the Ravens. Some fans were kicking around the idea of bringing in Ray Rice. I don't think the Steeler brass considered, though. I think the Ben Tate experience against you guys last year told them to use an in house guy who knows the offense.

  7. Joey Porter did that same thing against Cincy on a couple occasions. I'm telling ya,, Burfict reminds me almost exactly of this generation's Porter (whether that's a good or bad thing is debatable I'm sure).

I think this is actually the Joey Porter rule. But it is a rule and Burfict is lucky he wasn't tossed. I accept your comments on the Bengals...sorry I misread you.

  8. I never liked his attitude and consider him top 3 dirty players in the league. That being said, he was phenomenal vs us in week 17. The best LB performance I saw in quite a while. He even picked up Buck Allen after one tackle.

Yep, he is very talented and aggressive. Thats football. Its just the "your team cheats and intentionally tries to hurt people but my team plays above board and only retaliates to your stuff' that makes me shake my head.  By NFL rule, Burfict should have been ejected before the game started for crossing the 50. Its a plain and simply rule and he broke it. And AJ Green should have been penalized for punting the football, another plain violation. This whole narrative that the Steelers get away with everything and others don't is a crock. I know you aren't saying this...its the Bengal guy I was responding to.

  9. Lol! ^ +1

Since it's the Steelers, how much you wanna bet that a key Bengals player gets hurt and knocked out of the game fairly early due to a real questionable play/hit?

I can almost guarantee it will happen again. In fact, I'd be shocked if it didn't.

**Side note - Bengals and Steelers players are already jawing and talking smack against each other yet again. It's gonna be "chippy".

Just curious if you watched how Burfict played in the last match-up? Did you cheer his low hits, late hits and penalized and fined plays? And if I used your logic...should I assume that Le Veon Bell was intentionally injured by the Bengals? Should I expect cheap hits from Burfict or others to try and put Ben or AB out of the game? Seriously, do you actually think a Steelers uniform means the guy has a black heart and a Bengals uniform makes him Mother Teresa in orange stripes? This total lack of objectivity is the worst thing about some fans.

  10. Good Guys won with all heart and effort, steelers didn't stand a chance.

I'm rooting for you guys to make it to NE and handle the patsies.

Well, "good guys" is in the eye of the beholder  ;) , but the Ravens definitely showed more heart in that game. I'm not a "fire Tomlin" guy, but I came close that day! AFC has no dominate team, so there is some reason for optimism, even with our defense.
