is the running game having issues because of the OL? or is it broadcasting the plays? or is it because we don't have any running backs? Pittsburgh and Cincy are waiting. When the h.... is Dumerville going to get in the lineup?
wasn't it the Jags that upset us a couple of years back....still smarting.
I'm not confident in Trestman as OC AT ALL. There was all this talk how he would continue with Kubiak's system that worked so well. But little by little he's just demolishing it. It looks as if slowly, but steadily we are turning into the Bears of his tenure.
Running game obviously struggles for second consecutive year now. Last game Trestman couldn't figure out how to get the passing game rolling either, until Flacco had to go to him and point it out. That's not much of a confidence booster in your OC.
It's still early in the season so he has time, but Trestman must improve. We can't afford to waste another year of Flacco's career to a clueless OC. Flacco would be TOP 3 QB in the NFL if he had a decent OC.
you may be right, wonder how Flacco would do in Belicheck's system? He seems to be able to get top performances out of any QB.
I think the run game also depends on how quickly the O-line with 2 rookies on the left side can adapt to complex run schemes. It may very well be that our run schemes are plain enough that the defenses are accounting for it quickly and plugging the run lanes. Hopefully with a few more games under their belt, we'll be able to break off a few big runs. That is all that is needed to improve the YPC average.
agree but I hope we aren't seeing this 4-5 games from now. The Ravens have a tendency to stay with schemes too long. Look at the last few years....continuing to run the same plays for weeks. It's on the coaches to figure out how to use the players they have effectively even with two rookies on the left side. Bet they have been working on the pass schemes primarily.
we'll see when he plays against Pittsburgh and Cincy.....NE, Giants.
There are a lot of ways to win in the NFL but coming back from 20 point deficits, on the road, to a division rival is definitely not one of them.
The ability of the Raven's defense to shut out the Browns for three quarters was exceptional and allowed the team a chance to win the game. This performance was so clutch that it has to be encouraging for the team's future. IMO this looks like one of the top defenses in the league and may take them a long way this season.
The offensive line needs to improve their performance. I don't know what the answer is but hopefully it is just taking time for the 2 rookies to get up to speed and for the line to gel as a unit. It is clear that with the return of Pitta and the play of Wallace we have all the play makers that Flacco needs to have a pretty good offense. But he needs protection and a running game to make this an upper level offense.
The addition of Hester and the play of Tucker gives us the best special teams group in the league.
This team has potential for a deep playoff run. Knock on wood when seeing that our injury status is negligible. We have a tough game in Jacksonville this week and I will be glad to eke out a 3 point win.
But there is nothing better than being 2-0 after 2 weeks into the season.
not that excited. Two wins against poor teams and now another 0-2 one.
Flacco should try stepping up when the game begins. That first interception was thrown into double or triple coverage to a receiver that clearly was not open. Poor performance from him.
1 hour ago, Derrel said:Good win on the road but what the heck with the pass coverage? Even got gouged at the end the game to put the ball on the Cleveland 10. Couldn't get the game here in Richmond so didn't see anything but the 'highlights' but looks like the pass coverage needs to improve to beat better receivers than last place Cleveland. Cleveland had the game and the refs turned the game in the Ravens' favor.
they did beat up McCown though. Big DL play in the last 3 quarters. That late pass was troubling though...Pittsburgh and Cincy are watching that one.

The offense needs to get going this week. The top teams (Pats, Steelers, Cincy) already had their teams in mid season form on offense during last week's games.
'didn't have last season'?? How about never had two speedy guys, ever....
sorry folks but someone tell me how to reply to a post?
it seems like we always play regular season games in NE....why is that?
You could argue that Ozzie has had a difficult time getting an impact player from the draft the last 5-6 years. The counter argument could be our draft position because of how the team has finished but take a look at what the Steelers have added to their offense during the same period with similar draft position. In my mind, he's on the clock now.
I have images of him chasing down pass receivers all season. He needs to work on his pass defense.
very average...no story
.....and we can expect the Ravens to turn this into another guessing game when he sits until the 8th game next season. Get him two receivers and a LT.
they can't rely on Suggs or Dumerville next year. They need to work things out with Upshaw at the right price...otherwise let him move on.
He's being honest about where he is.....now just retire and stop making this an ongoing story. Announce it tomorrow.....the Ravens need to get some younger talent.
Flacco's agent negotiated after a big season and now he will work through his past season. Without a doubt they need him but not at this premium. Don't know what options the org. has but Flacco looked ineffective before his injury regardless of who he was throwing to....accuracy issues, throwing off his back foot and too many interceptions. Fix the LT problem, get a solid running back and add some targets. Easily said.....
.....and the 2nd game against the Steelers? Two huge PI's that eventually resulted in 14 points. Guess we'll have to wait until next year to see.
I have a hard time believing next season will be much better than this year. The Steelers and Cincy are way ahead talent wise. I would like to know if Ozzie is ready to move on. It wouldn't surprise me if he's in his last year with the Ravens. How is it the Steelers and Cincy have a ton of receivers and we can't get too reliable guys?
good luck to Smith but he drops too many passes. If they keep him, only for 3rd down short stuff.
It's hard to know what goes on behind the scenes. A vet like Suggs stays away from the team for most of the season and I wonder if he even watches the games. Need all of ex players to show up in Cincy next week.

Like Steve Smith's fire but wish he would play and shut his mouth. Been with us for several seasons and hasn't made a major impact....drops too many balls.
