  1. Unfortunately the quarterback stays. Trestman didn't help himself but captain check down now is playing like he doesn't want to take a hit to make a play. The faces will change but the one who has been here through all the excuses (minus being competent in Kubiak's scheme) is still here.
  2. Reminds me of the "new" coke debacle... Why change something classic and great for the sake of change? The shield was great...Too bad.
  3. It shouldn't be unpopular because it's the truth. You just can't hitch your wagon and pay these types if you hope to have success.
  4. I'll say best case scenario is 9-7. Joe has never shown consistency over a full season. Even with rosters much better than this he couldn't get to 13 regular season wins. One game (or quarter) he'll look like Joe Montana the next game (or quarter) you'll wonder if he's ever seen a football before. Hi biggest detriment to improvement is touch (or timing) on the deep ball. He consistently throws it late which leads to underthrows or contested catches if the receiver has a step or two.
  5. I don't think anyone will ever call me a homer but to borrow a baseball term, Ozzie and the front office are raking!!!! Great offseason spending with the three acquisitions. No beef at all with the dollars invested. Looking forward to the rest of the offseason.
  6. Great news!!! I resigned myself into thinking he was going to Oakland because of all the money they have available. The Ravens really need a guy like this on the back end. Great day!! If they can bring Wallace in at a fair rate I call the offseason an overwhelming success.
  7. Yeah, Flacco the "Team Player"...LOL Flacco feathered his own nest, the Ravens made him the highest paid QB in the game and has never shown himself over the course of any season to be worth it. Quest for mediocrity started with the Flacco resigning. Too much money going in his direction when some should be allocated elsewhere.
  8. Soft is one of the words I'd use to describe him. In my years of watching sports I can't say I remember a sprain lasting this long. Even the scope indicated no new damage. Look at SSS who plays with broken ribs. Man, if Perriman had 4 broken ribs he'd probably be on life support. I'm going forward that this pick was a complete waste and will be pleasantly surprised if it turns out otherwise.
  9. I've always maintained the higher Flacco's cap hit the tougher it is going to be to win. People chastised and negged me but that's always ok as long as I'm true to what I see. Going forward if Flacco hasn't been humbled by this experience and negotiates a salary inline with his type talent the time to unload him is this offseason. The Ravens or no team can afford to surround him with the type of talent he needs to succeed at that salary. Good news for the trading team for three seasons at least the Ravens would incur the accelerated bonus hit and the cap penalty on the trading team would be closer in line with his value... I don't expect the Ravens to move on but that's what they should do if they can get two firsts and at least one second round pick. At any rate I'll root for the Ravens to do well in spite of Flacco's contract.
  10. In a perfect world he would have never left and gotten a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens. Wishing JJ the best in retirement.
  11. AAFC Miami Seahawk/Baltimore Colt colors were green and silver. I'd love to see a throwback to Baltimore's first professional season whatever the color.
  12. I don't think people would mistake me for a Flacco fan but concede 90 some is way too low, after last season and the playoffs 58 may be too low. Flacco should be high 30s minimum.
  13. Agreed. Pollard is much better than Elam, I've been saying since Elam's rookie year they paid the better player to leave to waste a first on Pollard lite. After the dust has settled Elam can't carry Pollard's jock. That said Pollard isn't coming back, I'd hope the team learn lessons and bring in a rookie capable of making contributions. See Dawan Landry back in the day a fifth rounder.
  14. They sell tools that the user can set to deflate to a certain PSI. Of course someone can deflate 12 balls in 90 seconds. Very easily. The shills up in New England, like their coach, players and fans are once again throwing stuff against the wall and hoping something sticks. I don't know if this has been posted but I agree with Aikman's thoughts.
  15. The Patriots and that whole area have no shame. No one out side of a Patriots fan will believe it's a rogue clubhouse attendant but that won't stop them from using it.
  16. Sounds great. It's been proven Flacco is better when he has a QB coach. I hope Flacco continues to work on footwork . I've complained about his game this season (of course) but give him an A grade for his season. IMO he is better selling the play fake than in the past but needs to clean up throwing off his back foot at times when it's not needed.
  17. I liked the idea of hiring Gase until they mentioned on Vinny and Rob today how Gase and Manning would get into shouting matches. Vinny mentioned because of Trestmans personality Flacco and his new coordinator should get along great. They both swung me to a Trestman before he got hired. Trestman has done it over the long haul and isn't a one trick pony, see McDaniel.
  18. Although I've longed believed Elam was a poor choice(especially since they paid Pollard to leave) , I haven't given up on him yet. I think the thought of elite SS has long since been buried but he can be a salvageable draft pick. He seems willing to work and listen to coaching but am wondering if his football IQ is good enough for this league. He started pretty much out of the gate so my thoughts say he has the smarts. Elam , has poor technique and always seems like he's going for the big shot even in space. I do believe playing him out of his natural position has hurt his development and confidence. If he can get the fundamentals and confidence back this can still work.
  19. One Quarterback fresh out of a tree stand and the other playing like a deer caught in the headlights. Even with the dumbed down playbook ,pathetic peformance Flacco. S.O.S.

Even is he had 3 TD passes and we had two running TDs that would set me good.

  21. Anyone see NFL Live yesterday? They substituted Ashley Fox and Ed Werder in studio for regulars. No one will ever accuse TM-Zespn of unbiased reporting.. Speaking of that where was Ed Werder when Bryant was beating the heck out of his mother?

Yet - nothing on the Steelers re-signing Harrison, charged for DV in 2008, apologized and Rooney campaigned to get the charges dropped.

  22. Good article by Preston! It turns my stomach to think where the ravens will be at when Joe's real money kicks in the following year. This team isn't going to be able to afford to surround him with the cast he needs to occasionaly rise above average or below average performance.

Flacco was the least of our problems on offense yesterday. Like the entire team top to bottom, he made some mistakes too, but if his receivers didn't drop 8 passes and if his line could block on the right side, we are talking about a completely different ball-game. I dunno what was in the water yesterday, but it effected this entire team, they were all playing like they didn't get any sleep or something. Hopefully the TEAM can perform better next time. Thursday comes quick. Enoug...

Preston hasn't written a good article involving the Ravens in his lifetime.

  23. Having trouble understanding how Torrey can work out with Cam but Flacco can't find the time to workout with his own reciever. Just learning the playbook, excuse 1001,,, Yeah that's the ticket.

  24. I understand he's gotten better shedding blocks but stepping up in competition he'll need to get even better. This pick reminds me too much of Arthur Brown , injury concerns of Mosely notwithstanding. I hope I'm wrong and the Ravens inside backers are 49ers east. I'll happily eat crow if the pick pans out.
  25. I don't understand the pick. Looking at the LSU and Auburn games I see nothing special. It looks like he's gotten swallowed up by blockers too many times. Admittedly I have no hardware on my finger but given that Alabama defenders don't seem to take it to the next level when they go to the next level I feel the Ravens got themselves another workmanlike defender instead of a Pro Bowl caliber talent. Then there's the injury concerns. Didn't like the pick the minute it was announced and like it less now.
