  1. Interesting thought . Not really sure . Let's see how he plays against Cincy .

I agree, if Cincy needs this win to secure a bye or advance seeding then it should be a decent litmus test to see what we're dealing with. I suspect they will blitz him more and take away the dink and dunk more than Pittsburgh did.

  2. Mallett without question has more talent than Schaub or Clausen . Some of those throws he made only ,well,Joe could make.

I hope he has turned the corner because he should be the backup QB for us .

Would you be opposed to a trade with a QB desperate team if the opportunity was there? Though I agree it's ideal to have a backup with similar characteristics to your starter for scheme fit.

  3. If you really think given a whole season of opportunity that Clausen can match Flacco's success than you just don't know football, period. And if you watch enough football you know how stupid it is to just look at stats in a vaccum, this doesn't even matter for Clausen because he's not even good enough to rack up garbage time stats.

  4. In this comparison are you trying to compare Ben to Flacco?

Because honestly I could see where you can compare Mallett and Flacco.

    ^This being our problem.

It's simple guys, you can say its premature if it makes you feel better. But every Qb that has started this season for the Ravens is putting up Flacco type numbers with less than half the time in the offense.

Say what you will but Flacco is clearly in the conversation with the likes of Mallett and our other backups.

Haven't seen anyone match his games against Oakland, Cleveland, Cincinnati and San Diego yet, beside the point, you're putting way too much stake into numbers. Between Smith and Smith last year they dropped enough TD passes that would have given him his 4K, 30 TD season, would that make people happy?

Only you are saying Mallet and Flacco are comparable, I must have missed Mallets 10 playoff wins and 5 straight playoff appearances to start his career and a large collection of impressive passes with a high degree of difficulty and his 26 game winning drives.

Maybe we should get Dalton or Stafford, they have had 30 TD seasons so they're clearly better because stats.

Mallet played fine but he wasn't pressured much and checked the ball down all game besides 2 or 3 throws. We were a top 10 offense with Flacco this year we aren't anymore, I'd thought that would be enough proof for the small minority of our fan base that doubts his contributions to this team but I guess it isn't. Matt Cassel looked pretty serviceable in New England's offense and look how that turned out.

  5. So we are talking about one playoff run? Before the legacy run. I can remember when he got us booted out of the playoffs based on his play alone. Turnovers yet again spell doom for boy wonder.

We can do this with a serviceable guy at the Qb position. Trust me. Flacco's stats suggest that he has been that player since the said run.

24 TDs and 4 INTs and many dropped TD passes since his rookie and sophomore years including last year at Pitt where he far outplayed what Mallet did today in a much bigger game.

It's not just 'one' playoff run, and entertaining this idea is literally insane. I question if you were a fan before 2008, maybe let's see what our serviceable QB can do with a true #1 WR instead.
