  1. I remember Dilfer did. Boller was a fail. Mcnair was a beast.

All Qb's are hit and miss. Mallett is just another potential candidate.

McNair was not a beast, in fact he delivered the biggest choke in Ravens history. That was quite possibly our best team and he blew it, for all this Flacco isn't worth the money, McNair had the definition of pedestrian numbers that year and became a zombie in that playoff game. The following year MNF he started the game with 3 straight fumbles....In a row, no plays in between.

3000 yards, 16 TDs and 12INTs. All he had to do was score 16 points at home vs one of the worst defenses in the league, granted they were on a tear with Bob Sanders....16 points. Either that or the Cundiff game is the worst loss in Ravens history.

  2. this is what's so funny. It was an average game. I think emotions are a little high because it was the steelerssteelers and we may have knocked them out of the playoffs. If 275 yards and a td is the benchmark... I would suggest those people have higher standards

Yea I agree, what if he throws for 5TDs next week!

  3. I see Joe is still being disrespected. Ahh

Mallet played great....Will forever be a cherished memory for us....Why can't that just be enough for some people? Instead it's ridiculous assertions & scenarios while comparing him to the face of the franchise who has dealt with far worse & has had far greater success. It's not fair to both of them. Short memories.

    Totally agree

  4. Besides, do we really wanna start the QB carousel again? Baltimore was looking for stability at the position for a long time. That hurt the teams chances, when the Ravens had some really good defenses, more than anything.

Which is why I tend to speculate that the small minority of our fan base (which thankfully has become much smaller) that is dissatisfied with our QB must not have been watching 2001-2007, aka the wasted talent years.

  5. With a group of receivers trying to learn their craft and an o-line playing like a sieve, our offense averaged 5.6 points per game MORE with Flacco at the helm than since he went down. Since then our receivers have figured out what they're doing and the o-line has tightened up, but scoring is down. Yes, I miss Flacco.

Thank you, been trying to drill this one home, it doesn't appear to be resonating, apparently Flacco isn't capable of 275 yards and 1 TD.

  6. Gonna be straight up and say Mallett may have looked better than he is because Pittsburgh gave him a ton of easy throws. There was only one pass - when he split three defenders on a pinpoint strike to Kamar Aiken - that impressed me. He didn't do anything special for the most part. He just took what the defense gave him and made smart plays. What Ryan Mallett is right now is a strong armed game manager.

    I definetely agree with this

  7. He doesn't seem to be struggling with his current crop of receivers. He should be able to give us what Flacco does.

You don't see a problem with a guy that has started 14 games in his career being put into the same sentence with our starting QB and holding his own at this point,

The reason you can bring in more talent is because it cost us less at QB. So yes, he should be able to get more talented receivers and no he is not better than Flacco as of yet.

One game against the second worse pass defense in the league, at home, with great O line play and limited game film for the opponent..1TD, and some decent YAC left on the field.

I want to beat the Bengals next week but I am terrified to read the forums if Mallet plays well.

  8. Again, you're missing the point. I'm not sold on one performance by Mallett. What I'm saying is Joe's been gone for weeks now and I don't miss him one bit. The gameplay has not dropped off enough for concern.

Mallett may not be the answer but we need to bring in competition at every position.

To be honest Steve Smith nearing retirement, is more missed than Flacco. Just saying

Top 10 with, not without. And how many TDs did our offense score for the other team. Mallet threw one TD pass, I forgot Flaccos career high is 1.

  9. I cannot for the life of me see how "FANS" are calling for Mallett over Flacco based on one game. Yes it was a huge game but seriously you people honestly believe that Mallett offers the Ravens better opportunity than Flacco?

Yea but the trolling is working on me, I have to say something lol. Seriously if Joe got that much time he would of torched them, but something tells me Pittsburgh would have blitzed him more as he is more of a threat than Mallet for obvious reasons.

The fact that this is being entertained is embarrassing, we really think Flacco isn't capable of 274 yards and 1TD against the 31st pass ranked defense?

  10. Would Joe have won Sunday and "Whom" would Trestman offense work better with Joe or Ryan?! I'm sorry I like Joe but I don't think he would have won Sunday and is why I knew it will be a QB controversy on the horizon! The Ravens organization is the definition of "RELENTLESS" and it showed Sunday and I know Triple " S " will be back now!

Joe's never played well against Pittsburgh and can't beat Ben so yea I agree with you.

  11. I think a big battle in camp will be at RB, We wanted West but Cleveland moved up to get him, and now that we have him, and the way he has played, i think TF might be in danger....

Good problem to have, with an aging Forsett lets keep the depth. I always like a rotation that can feature a change of pace as well, hopefully this RB committee can rival the 2008 crew.

  12. Find it weird that the defense always shows up against the Steelers but have a hard time elsewhere. These past 3 games against the Steelers are the best 3 games the defense has played in that stretch.

True, wish we could channel that energy into the Bengal games where it seems the opposite is true. Even last year minus the Ben game with 6 TDs, we shut them out at home.

  13. Oakland is NOT a pushover team bro. The Raiders of yesterday are gone. They're an up and coming team and after this offseason they should be pretty formidable.

No they're not but I think he's referring to the OPI in Miami, the illegal motion no call vs JAX and the Illegal Contact call in Oakland. Of these 3 I want to beat Oakland the most, watching Carr celebrate like he won the super bowl was frustrating.

  14. I don't think you quite know what you are asking.

Honestly an easy qb replacement assessment for me is this, can they do what Flacco did in 2012? Can they consistently go into New England and play well?

I hope Mallet plays lights out next week and some QB desperate team offers us a 1st or 2nd round pick for him, crazier things have happened...Matt Flynn

  15. When people bring up this stat in particular it makes me think that you don't understand the game. (ANYONE) could have taken us to the playoffs in JOE"s first season he had 14 tds and 12 picks. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

Mallett could have done that. Minus his stellar Super bowl run and 2014 campaign Joe has been mediocre at best. 2 Good years in the NFL are not enough for a contract of that size.

I'm only interested in what makes us better as a team. Mallett or something similar to what i saw against Pittsburgh is all we need to be an elite team in the future. Not a QB that underperforms in every area of the game(for his contract). We need a downgrade if Flacco is an upgrade at the position, so we can restock our defense and trench positions. Mallett is decent, I'm just not sure if I can trust him as of yet. But someone along those lines would be awesome.

If he restructures and keeps his cap hits to what they are the first 3 years of his contract (10-13 range among qbs) would you drop the criticisms? Not for anything but if a certain WR holds on to a pass in 2011 then we're in back to back Super Bowls. Big drops in 2010 playoff campaign as well and he had a good regular season that year too, we play in a balanced offense, he makes clutch throws in big moments and is a big reason we led the league in wins from 2008-2012. Stafford has some impressive numbers but has 1 win on the road against a winning team in his career, more to it than just stats. We also play in the AFC North and traditionally build our team around defense and a strong running game, all deterants to big QB numbers.

Yea I'll give you his rookie year, but his clutch throw vs Tennessee to Heap was a sign of things to come. It's a shame, Vet Flacco takes that team to a super bowl for sure.

  16. Let's stop here.

Off the top of my head. I watched MCCown torch (San Diego). Derek Carr did better than Flacco against them also. <<<also outplayed Flacco when we went head to head with the (RAIDERS). (Cleveland) is 3-12 no need to address them at all. Carson Palmer killed (Cincinatti). Does that cover everyone? Lots of misinformation in bold.

Now to Mallett- He can give us what Flacco brings to the table, if we can give him a better supporting cast. Which is very possible with the reduction of the Qb salary.

I meant between Mallet, Clausen and Schaub since you were saying they were matching his production. And not that it's that important but I think Flacco has thrown for the most yards vs Cincinnati than anyone this year.

  17. Stopping AJ Green has been the Ravens' unsolved problem, but maybe the Bengals backup QB won't have the chemistry with Green that Dalton has.

Separate note: If anyone could have imagined back in week #1 that the team will be playing the final regular season game without Flacco, Forsett, Zuttah, Monroe, Gillmore, and SSS on offense, one would think the season went so well that the team decided to rest those guys. It's been a ride!

Maybe, but he has thrown a TD to him each game so far.
