  1. i love how you think its okay to turn the ball over.

anything to put all the blame on pees right ....

That's the issue, both sides of the ball always play a flawed game. Waiting for that complete game like 2012 opener, that will be our litmus test to see if we've improved or not. Still, very annoying these sloppy games have all gone their way recently, they haven't been playing perfect football either by any means.

    And that Steve Smih call.......

  2. I'd like to believe that, but frankly...there are a lot of idiots in the world...

Yea it's true, my login with Facebook functionality stopped working years ago, I've never stopped reading, the Mallet stuff Virginia was spewing made me so angry I tried to log in again and it finally worked!....Besides, I figure you could use the help in here, the Mallet stuff was a new low with this ongoing discussion.

  3. Or they could be Steelers fans trolling our website. That makes about as much sense as saying Tucker isn't worth the money!

Remember when Haushka (sp?) was going through a mechanical glitch where he hooked everything and it cost us an epic comeback against Brett Favre and the Vikings, and yea Billy Cundiff essentially ends this debate.

    I'll never forget that night.

  4. Agree to disagree I guess. Flacco's 17 total TD's to 14 turnovers through 10 games, most of it done before half of the offense went on IR, doesn't tell a story of someone lighting it up like you suggest. Flacco has, and likely always will be, wildy inconsistent in the regular season.

Steve Smith did drop 4 TDs but even this season he still had more 300 yard multiple TD games than all of our other qbs combined this year. And just one pick six lol, hard to compete with Schaub on those.

  5. That's great and all, but there's a difference between LOOKING like you have killer instinct and actually having a killer instinct.

I certainly didn't see anything resembling the have part in that game on Sunday.

For me, its simple... I have not seen Mallett make one throw that Joe can't make thus far. Not one.

I've seen multiple (at least three I saw on Sunday) that Joe can make that Mallett hasn't proven to me that he can make.

That's all I need to know. I could care less about how Joe or Mallett reacts on the sidelines, whether they are reviewing pictures or eating a hot dog. That's the stuff that gets fans all worked up, but its ultimately irrelevant.

I think Flacco looked pretty confident when he audibled on 4th and 1 in the Super Bowl. But he doesn't show emotion! I mean this is literally insane, idk, maybe it's like a president sentiment type thing, half the fanbase is always going to want the backup when things aren't going our way.

  6. What an awful trade. Dumped someone who was going to retire. I'm pretty sure they either had Dalton or drafted him that year and then got Hue Jackson back. The Raiders are just now recovering from that. And didn't they only get like 2 3rds for Palmer from Arizona?

Correction. He was traded for a 6th and a conditional pick. I hate the Raiders.

Me too, they setup the bengals so well. I was livid when it happened, they're a joke and don't deserve to have an upside right now after that lol. Throw Tampa on that list too, they set up the bengals with a comp pick 3rd round for Michael Johnson, then they cut him, bengals get him back for a discount and they still get a pick. You literally can't make this stuff up and recently it's been benefiting them. I hate football

  7. So I take it you didn't actually watch the games then? Mallet made alot of major league throws out there with what little talent we still had left around him and deserves some credit.

Mallet got his first start after being on the team for 12 days while McCarron sat behind Dalton for a year and a half, give your head a shake if you think they are even worthy of comparison at this point.

I watched the games, never missed one and was at the Bengals game where his inaccuracy became even more glaring in person when you see how open some people were. I watched him beat Pittsburgh by having a lot of time to throw and for the most part checking it down, inaccurately I might add. That's the 31st ranked defense I promise you if Joe was back there for THAT specific game he dominates them similar to 2011s home opener. But Pittsburgh knows Flacco is 10x the QB Mallet will ever be and they would have been foolish to bait throws and not bring pressure.

Like someone just said above me, he made no throws Joe can't or wouldn't have made, and he certainly hasn't shown he can consistently make the throws Joe does make. And he looked very rattled, he threw a WR screen into the dirt that nullified a great play and TD from Butler.

The point I'm making with McCarron is he actually threw multiple touchdowns in multiple games which is more symbolic of strong play versus Mallet throwing 2 TDs in 2 games and a few picks where he's lucky it was kept to a few. Not to mention a few temper tantrums that are embarrassing considering this is from a guy that was just kicked out of Houston for oversleeping and has less career wins than Flacco has playoff wins. I get the on the team for 2 weeks but he has more starting experience than McCarron does. Poor example though because I think I could throw some TDs to AJ Green lined up against Wright, I'll give you that.

Ryan Mallet has no impact on Flaccos contract negotiations, if nothing else we have a backup that's better than Schaub.

  8. I hope he comes back strong, but not under the existing deal. Something tells me the surprisingly strong play of Mallet is going to light a fire under Joe.

Surprisingly strong play? I want him to restructure too but Ryan Mallet is irreverent in this discussion, he shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Flacco, he's a joke.

We probably have a 2011 opening game type performance against Pittsburgh if Flacco was starting, we need to stop acting like Mallet threw 3-4 TDs a week. It's not like he did what AJ McCarron did in his short starting period, granted way better talent, but Mallet looked terrible on Sunday and average against Puttsburgh.

  9. I wouldn't mind throwing every play if that is what gets us wins. However, this year with four different QBs and a band of misfits at receiver was not the ideal season to throw it more than any other team. We threw it so much, and we were only way behind in two games. We even had the lead through the first half this past week and still threw it almost 60 times. I have to think with better balance we wouldn't have been so inept in the third quarter.

I'm with you man, I just want to win period, this season was beyond frustrating and certain things happened that really made you question if this really isn't supposed to be our year. The ideal situation is we can do both well to exploit match ups and or not be dead in the water if one unit is off a given day.

When you talk about 4 different qbs it does look puzzling they threw so much, maybe some of it was forced to see what we have at WR going forward? Yesterday showed no team should be afraid of that unit, I love Aiken but correct me if I'm wrong, he has one game over 100 yards and it was largely due to a Hail Mary? He seems to be a good possession WR but he is not a game changer.

  10. Just putting this question here because it has to do with quarterbacks. Did we really lead the league in pass attempts this year, or did I get bad information? We should work on lowering that number and trying to help the running game again.

Not saying I disagree but I always get irritated with the, so and so is 35-3 when they have 30 carries or more type stats. They're incredibly misleading when the pass was used to gain a lead and open up the run, a lot of times a good share of those carries are accumulated in the 4th quarter after the lead has been obtained.

This game last week for example, I understand you don't want Mallet throwing 60x a game, but the defense knows that too and force you into having to pass. If we ran the ball more we would of lost by more, they weren't getting it done more often than not this year. Games where we were running it well we didn't necessarily go away from it, we just didn't have too many of those.

So I guess we do agree, we need to improve our running game to be more efficient and produce more big plays and setup play action to that guy we drafted this year.

  11. The fact that he turned around the defense to be the second ranked defense in the second half of the season after repeatedly telling us in his pressers the same thing - avoid giving up big plays. His players did, and they shot up in the rankings to 2nd overall. Is that reason enough for you?

I don't know if it's the DC, the secondary coach, or the personal, or a combination of all 3, but when the ball is in the air, I can't think of a team that has a worse sense of ball awareness. It is laughable at points, we have safeties hitting WRs full seconds before the ball even gets there, we have guys afraid to track down the ball in the air, players afraid to turn around, etc.

This really becomes evident when you're at the games in person and can see how long the ball is in the air and just how are secondary is tracking it during its flight relative to the WR. We need more ball hawks, I don't care if they're on our team now and they just need to be coached differently or if the players with this capability are just not on our current roster, just fix it next season. We need more playmakers on both sides of the ball.

It will be hard to watch if we have constant let downs in the 4th quarter with a Dean Pees defense again next year, very hard to watch.

  12. According to this chart from Football Outsiders, we were about middle of the pack (17th) in our opponents average starting field position per drive. Meanwhile offensively, we were 18th in time of possession on offense. These aren't great numbers, but I don't think our offense can be blamed quite as much for our 24th ranking in points allowed. I prefer to think our defense was simply bad when we faced good offenses, such as the blowout vs. the Seahawks, or at times even just average offenses, like when Josh McCown threw for over 450 yards on us.

I do certainly agree that our offense could've done more to help out, and changes certainly need to be made there as well. But I think certain stats, such as the 8th in total defense, are quite deceiving. Our defense was all too often really bad.

And the Oakland game, the defense needs to be more opportunistic, the turnover ratio is more attributable to the lack of turnovers forced versus conceding turnovers which also needs to improve and can improve with better pass blocking and more consistent separation from WRs.

  13. Well someone did say about him being Tom Brady-esque. He doesn't have the talent down but at least he got the whining and blaming other players right! :P

It's pretty obvious that some here are not watching the same Ravens the rest of us are.

Anyone who thinks Mallet is better, more confident, or poised than Joe, is simply not paying attention.

Ask Patriots' fans what they think of Joe.

That notion is literally insanity, it really emphasizes the lack of perspective some of the anti-Flacco crowd has and he is very Brady like with the whining, very un-Brady like with his play and unearned whining.

  14. We allowed over 25 pts a game. You aren't winning too many games with that stat. We did better in yardage and all it took was for us to face some offenses at the bottom of the pile lol

And every time we needed a crucial stop we couldn't get it besides the Pittsburgh games. Bengals week 3 sums up my opinion of what we'll see more of if Peas stays and I can't watch that secondary incompetence for a 3rd season in a row. At a minimum, Hewitt better be gone. This defense got no turnovers, that needs to be fixed next year, and it seems like a different governing mentality could help with that.

  15. Also:

Lolz we can't beat the brngals to save our lives.

kinda funny how since pees been here we can't beat em? JUS SAYIN

I agree he definetely has problems shutting down their offense, it's not so much that he gets torched, but that he fails time and time again at stopping them during crucial moments in the game. And some of the matchup decisions on Green in big moments have been brutal and we've paid the price.

  16. I'll be at the game too. But hopefully I won't have to witness fights between fans. That's No Bueno. Why would fans be fighting over something they have no control over? But I'm sure somewhere there will be some idiots doing that.

The teams on the other hand,, yeah that will probably get pretty "chippy".

Yea nothing physical obviously, but there will probably be a lot more animosity going on between the fans compared to what the environment was like today.
