The TEs of today aren't All that impressive. Witten is getting old, Jimmy Graham has been less effective in a run offense, gates is on the way out, Vernon Davis fell off the face of the earth, and all the best TEs out there today are nowhere near the caliber of those guys in their primes, celek, cook, reed, ertz, kelce, all good TEs but a big notch below the previous generation of TEs. right now you have gronk, olson, and Bennett that really stand out, maxx Williams has the potential to be at the top of that 2nd tier of tight ends once those older elite TEs hang it up.

Eifert too, the amount of weapons Dalton has is insane, aside from Matt Ryan no QB could ask to be surrounded by more, I'd argue with the line and defense Dalton has had the best situation the last 5 years in the NFL.

Assuming health, Watson, Williams, and Gillmore all have a place on this team.  After that, the question becomes whether we keep 4 or not.  Pitta is still a wildcard. He might look alright in OTAs but let's see what happens when the contact starts.  Waller is transitioning to the position and we have no idea how that's going to go right now.  He could force us to keep him on the roster or he could show he needs development and end up on the PS.  Boyle is suspended for 10 games so we have some time to make a decision on what to do with him, and with how things have gone these past couple of years, I'd expect injuries to play a part in whether there's a spot for him or not.

While I wholeheartedly agree, it's worth noting that his re-injury of his hip that occurred in Cleveland was entirely non-contact. It is somewhat encouraging that he is presumably able to make cuts, sprint, jump, etc in OTAs.

But I agree, tempor expectations for now, it would be something else to get him back on the field given his reliability and chemistry with his QB.

  3. I mean "special" as in "elite" player, possible hall of famer. Joe is not going to the HOF and he's not a consistant "elite" player outside of a great stretch of games about 3-4 years ago, I just see something in Goff.

One more super bowl and I think you could make a strong case. And for both our sakes let's hope you're wrong about Goff unless he goes somewhere outside our division.

  4. Is there a problem with this? Fact is I think Goff is gonna be a special player and Bens a future hall of famer candidate, neither titles are appropriate for Joe.

I think throwing 17 straight TDs and 0 INTs in the playoffs and winning Super Bowl MVP is something a pretty special player would do.

I guess it's more appropriate to crown someone who has never played a down in the NFL before.

  5. Whats more amazing is the fact there was not a penalty for driving him into the ground. It's laughable how tough flacco is and how little respect he gets.

What's even more amazing is that he threw an absolute dime to Jacoby Jones THAT HIT HIM IN STRIDE (since apparently he is not capable of that feat) and was of course dropped, also was a TD since he dropped it at the 3 yard line and was going to run in. That game frustrated me with the 150 yards of drops, the next game was even worse with the Steve Smith call.

When you live in Cincinnati you care about these games more than Pittsburgh and Joe could of had 400 yards that game and a game winning TD the other game....I NEED THESE THINGS TO HAPPEN so I don't have to get into the Dalton is better than Flacco garbage that I get into.

  6. 1. I get that but Brady finds his way to the playoffs no matter the case which I am still waiting for you to explain to me. Flacco had receivers that produced at this point or another that he had chemistry with... I doubt Marlon Brown all of a sudden forgot how to play football.

    2. He had Randall Cobb in Torrey Smith. He has James Jones in Kamar Aiken or Marlon Brown take your pick. Receivers that Flacco at some point had great numbers with all of them. It took Steve Smith for him to realize he ad another receiver on the other side of the field.

    3. Put Torrey Smith with Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, etc... I guarantee his numbers are way better than with Flacco. His numbers may increase this year with Chip Kelly in all honesty. Colin Kapernick hasn't played well in a long time and they are debating whether or not to give him up.

    4. Hey I'm not trying to disrespect you in any way when I say this, but c'mon how many times does Joe Flacco under throw balls to speed receivers. Torrey Smith had to go back and fight for the ball on most of those calls he got. Thats why a lot of people thought he would be kept because its not his fault. That has 100% percent to do with Flacco. I don't know if you watch the games but Flacco did that consistently week to week. Like I said we led the league in that statistic. If you want to over look Flacco weakness as a QB and blame the players around him you can do that. As I said in #3 Torrey just didn't go to a team with a good QB. Flacco did the same thing to Chris Givens this season. Flacco will more than likely under throw Breshad Perriman as well. Mallett on the other hand 39 yard strike to Givens (Steelers game). Beyond just that game the problems with Flacco are not the same with Mallett. I never saw Mallett be predictable and throw to one guy majority of the game(s). For the first time in a long time our receivers as a unit made plays. Flacco will throw majority of his passes to Steve Smith next season, and it will be another season of blaming WR's unless we draft Laquon Treadwell (I pray we do).

Oh no I thought we were done with the Ryan Mallet rhetoric, fine with him as our backup, if he's our starter than we're in trouble.

Yea Flacco's never hit a WR in stride particularly Chris Givens a mid season acquisition, please spare me the Ryan Mallet is a better QB talk. Speculation about Torrey doing better in another system is just that, but Brady?, has Torrey really showed mastery of the short routes? We do have facts on how Torrey actually did do in another system, and pretty sure 3 years ago the anti-Flacco crowd was talking about how much better Keap is.

I'm with you on Treadwill, let's see if we can finally get a true #1 in here. But then we can debate if Treadwill is a bust or if Flacco is inhibiting his progression.....I'm just kidding, this forum would never do such a thing.

And path to the playoffs for Brady is a lot easier than our path, that one really isn't debatable.

  7. Talk is cheap until Joe's contract is renegotiated then I will say what a guy. Joe Linta or the Ravens haven't said a word about any talks, he's just saying what the fans want to hear.

I really want this case to be different due to it ultimately being more beneficial to him in the long run too. But after Boldin and Kubiak's promises I can't trust talk either. And I definetely don't trust Linta but this is news, and whether or not the validity is substantial, this piece of news is definetely encouraging.
