He played a great first half......second half? Not so great.

TBH I don't really disagree with your statement about the OC and pass rush. But similar happens to Joe and I guarantee the banter here is "Flacco should have thrown the ball away and not taken the sack". and "he's an 8 year veteran, not a rookie. Can't he audible to run plays?"   Guarawnteeed.

Also guarantee the Falcon's fanbase isn't blaming Ryan like our ungrateful fanbase would Flacco.

Did you really write that the Ravens have consistently done more for Flacco than the Falcons have for Ryan? wowzer!

And you are writing other things here and not understanding(maybe purposely) what you are writing. Boldin was here for 3 years and has been gone for 4. We won a SB in one of those years and were very competitive in the other two. Flacco and SSS had a good year in 2014, almost made it to the SB. 2015, 2016, injuries. Williams, Perriman and Gillmore probably haven't played a seasons worth of games between them. What is so hard to understand?

I really have no interest in taking the time to disprove it, but your subjective hypothesis that "many, many teams are worse off" really has no bearing on matters. Fact is if the Ravens want to get back on top there's going to have to be improvements on offense in more areas than just the play of the QB.

It's maddening how blind some of our fanbase is, I love when people yell Boldin in response to Joe never having weapons, they're actually proving the point, the 3 years with Boldin were all good seasons and should of resulted in 2 super bowl appearances.

Come ask me to compare Joe to all those other teams QBs this time next year. Another season of sub-mediocrity and I'm selling my Flacco jersey. As of right now... I'd take Tannehill, Dalton, Alex Smith, or Philip Rivers. I'm even tempted to look at young guys like Wentz, and I'm also a huge UCF homer... so maybe Blake Bortles can turn it around?

I'd love to see Dalton on the Raven teams of the last 3 years just to prove my point, no Green, no Eifert, no consistent  WR separation

Let's not act like Flacco has never had absurd plays from his receivers. Wallace's 90 yard TD catch was one of the flukiest touchdowns of the season for the Ravens. SSS made a living of making absurd YAC plays and breaking tackles for the Ravens. He was a menace against the Bengals for this reason.

I'd love to see how someone like Boldin ranked before and after his time in Baltimore. Same for SSS, but compare Newton and Flacco timelines so the prime argument can't be used.

We always talk about not having these amazing playmakers and what not, but much of that falls on the Ravens and Joe. Boldin was one of the most productive receivers in NFL history prior to coming to the Ravens. Perriman was a first round pick for the Ravens. Mike Wallace was incredibly productive for several years with the Steelers and isn't past his prime.

SSS played better under Flacco than Newton, if he didn't get hurt in 2015 he was looking at multiple career highs. Wallace is what he always has been, a one trick pony #2 ceiling type guy. As for Perriman, draft position doesn't automatically mean he will be good, I want him to excel but so far he has been the reason for his own shortcomings dropping a lot of great passes, several TDs.

I miss the ugly Joe Flacco who cares about winning games more than how his hair looks. He is the next Jay Cutler unfortunately. Ryan mink really has to put it out there that Joe Flacco beat Tom Brady in looks. Coz that's what matters in the nfl.

I thought Cutler was really clutch in his 10 playoff wins and especially in his Super Bowl performance.

  6. I can't believe all the Seahawks and Falcons had to do was run the ball and the Patriots only have 3 Super Bowls, the Patriots are one play away in each super bowl from a different outcome, they could easily be 0-7, and obviously some crazy happened in their losses as well.

Honestly this is the year that broke my spirit as a 27 year old fan whose seen every Raven game, why wouldn't NE be favorites next year? Bellicheck is unstoppable, they did this without Gronk. I'm sick, this is a sick joke, I'm still waiting to wake up.

So I guess Flacco didn't win the game. It was won by an Ed Reed interception, Jacoby Jones kickoff return, and an Upshaw forced fumble, all leading to 21 points. And then, it was Sam Koch who actually won the game by ensuring a kickoff was the final play of the game.

That fumble was way in our territory to be fair. Flacco probably has another TD this game if Torrey Smith isn't held, also who the hell knows what happens without the power outage.

Let us have the one small benefit of the Patriots winning lol, we can always tell Falcons fans that Flacco wouldn't have fumbled or taken that sack.

Yeah, but that's why I added "that offense".  The Ravens had momentum drained thanks to a long power outage as well.  But in terms of the teams:

Atlanta's run game averaged 5.7ypc last night vs the Ravens' 2.6ypc.  Matt got more help without a doubt on this end.

Boldin was great for that superbowl run, but he was no Julio Jones in terms of ability (and didn't draw consistent double teams).  The rest of Atlanta's WRs greatly outplayed the rest of Baltimore's in their respective superbowls as well.

I just can't see Joe being the Falcons QB last night and not winning the game.  Joe's best games are when the running game is thriving

I agree, week 1 in 2015 Flacco led a should of been game winning Drive against the #1 defense that was in his face all game long. I'd love to see Flacco be able to zip it to a Julio Jones.

Mile high miracle I wouldn't call a clean pocket, TD to Torrey Smith vs Pitt in the playoffs was not ample time, TD to Derrick Mason and game winning throw to Todd Heap his rookie year vs the #1 defense in the playoffs.

As an Atlanta resident, let me tell you that these fans are pissed off or depressed right now.  Sports radio still calls it the best Falcons season ever (which is sad if you think about it.  Best season ever features the worst superbowl collapse in history).  Someone's actually talking about it right now in the hall way and you can hear the sadness in his voice

I can only imagine, it's hard not to blame their head coach when you give up a 25 point lead in the super bowl.

It really sucks, every Patriot fan I know is bandwagon and don't deserve the constant success they get.

People loved to bash Sanu when he was a Bengal, but now he's some super star. Taylor Gabrial couldn't make the Browns roster. Austin Hooper was a first year starter at a notoriously difficult position to adjust to.

Let's not pretend he had amazing skill players outside of Jones this year.

And Flacco consistently had the vastly better lines (remember, if Joe just had offensive lines, he'd be good; works the same for Ryan), the vastly better running games, and the vastly better defenses.

Ryan has always been just more accurate and more mechanically sound.

Oh, also, the dome provides a minor advantage. It's not a 1,000 yard, 2.0 YPA, 15 TD difference.

Check Flacco's stats vs Ryan's division and vice versa, it's not so crazy

I mean Matt Ryan just won the MVP last night and wasn't at fault for this collapse. Blame Freeman for not picking up that block. Y'all are still going to say Flacco is better because of what he did four years ago? So sad

Ryan deserves some blame for the fumble and the sack, both at the worst times. What a sick joke this is

so essentially the talking heads needed to dive deep and create a new line of stats to note that jimmy smith is formidable, and really these stats shouldve been around for a long time because they are the only true indicators that a corner is good in coverage, but this is what it takes?

sad thing is, half of our fanbase is still gonna call him a bust for some ridiculous unknown reason.

Yep, but then praise Rashard Melvin

Looking to the draft I really like Mike Williams a lot. He reminds me a lot of AJ Green. Almost same size as well. Just an inch shorter and 2 pounds lighter. I still think Perriman looks a whole lot like Julio Jones when the ball gets in his hands. Problem is he needs to work on his route running to get open. Not saying either of those players will turn out to produce like Julio or Green.... But man those few times that Perriman got the ball was the few electric plays the offense had all year. He did solid for a  rookie campaign I hope he builds off of it this next year.

I ageee with that about Perriman, the potential could be unreal if he improves his hands and route running. Some of those plays were amazing. From what I've heard about Williams, we don't have a realistic shot at getting him.

Now we're talking! I think he needs a couple of really good possession receivers with awesome hands. A burner with awesome hands and a great catch radius (Flacco's long ball accuracy isn't the same anymore). A terrific pass blocking line and an awesome and potent run game. Most importantly, no more than 45-59% passing in any game no matter what the circumstances. Run the ball first, throw the ball only in play action. Most importantly he needs a dedicated QB coach that can get him back to re-learning fundamentals and footwork. Finally, Marty needs to call plays that use Flacco's strengths and create some easy plays for him when blitzed, where he has an easy out without damaging the team with boneheaded interceptions.

Agree we need someone to cater towards his strengths, which probably isn't the heavy pass run ratio built with a throw to run concept, everything seemed so hard for this offense this year.

Our route concepts could be better, we struggled getting guys open, whether this was route design or poor individual separation or a combo , it needs to get better. We've all seen what Joe can do with a line and open WRs, hell, with a line he's made some of the most impressive tight window throws I've seen.

I personally liked the bootleg with Joe, he throws well on the run to the right side, when that knee brace comes off (I hope) I expect some improved mobility. Bellicheck when gameplanning for us after the AFCCGs has mentioned this and said Joe always gets us one or two times with a big scramble play for a big run, we need to do this more, when he takes off he is actually pretty fast. It may also keep the defense honest and could help our WR separation.

What do 2009,2010,2011,2014 and 2016 have in common? They all featured huge drops from clutch passes that would of won a game to win the division, win a playoff game, win a playoff game to get to the Super Bowl, Joe doesn't need a superstar, he just needs people to catch the damn ball, it honestly hurts thinking about all the HUGE drops he's had to suffer from. It definitely isn't subsidized by AJ Green type catches, he gets like 4 of those a year from his crew. That being said, Dalton doesn't have to throw the ball with the precision Joe does when he's throwing to guys like Eifert and Green, we do need some more playmakers, maybe Perriman.

Why do you insist on answering my question with a question of your own? In any case, let's just agree to disagree and put this to bed shall we? There is one thing that is common to all of us here. We love the Baltimore Ravens! I have serious questions about Flacco and his skills after what he's showcased this year and for some time now. Short of that magical spell in 2012, I am hard pressed to say he carried the Ravens or has the ability to carry the Ravens. Matt may have taken a long time to reach the SB, but he did it starting game 1 in 2016 and put up MVP numbers spanning both the regular season and post season. He's carried the Falcons on his back, the entirety of the Falcons. I can't in sincerity say Flacco has ever done that for a whole season ever.

Having said all that I am a guy that always believed and said Flacco was the better QB of the two because I was jaundiced by 'homerism'! This year and just the insane mistakes by Flacco told me to rethink who Flacco is and I have come to the conclusion that Flacco is a very good QB, except he needs much more help than other elite QBs to produce the same results. Instead of debating how great Flacco is why don't we debate how to make him a winning QB again shall we?

Line, Burner, 2 solid possession options, good run game.

    So essentially 2012 January

    Mckinnie>Osemele>Birk>Yanda>Oher

    T Smith

    Boldin and Pitta

    Rice, Pierce and Lynch
