I know it's unpopular, and I'm biased because Ben typically plays worse vs Baltimore and I see those games in finer detail and it shapes my perspective on him; however I've always believed there is a big double standard with Ben, maybe influenced and exemplified by Pittsburgh bias in the media.
His playoff stats are abysmal, outside of the game winning drive in the Super Bowl, which obviously deserves credit. If Flacco had the lowest QB rating for a super bowl winning QB in the history of the game it would be brought up constantly to diminish him, how often is it brought up for Ben? Never mind he should only have one SB, that was the worst officiated game of all time but I digress.
How many times has he raised his game against Brady? Has he ever beaten NE? He's had superior talent around him, before last year never made the playoffs without a top 5 defense, but only Flacco wins because of his defense. Ben is good, I'd be fine with him as our QB, he's the best in the game at extending broken plays, but if/ when (lol) Flacco wins his next SB he is a hall of famer too, purely because of the post season resume at that point, he'd be 2nd to Brady in almost every category.
When Ben has clunkers you never hear him get criticized, last year he almost had the same amount of INTs and TDs but from the media love fest you'd think his ratio was 4 to 1, I was actually surprised when I saw his stats based on the perception he was getting. He didn't deserve any credit for that gift wrapped win in Cincinnati but he sure did get it, I just think he's a little overrated, but I obviously think he's good.
